Chapter 33
After two hours, Scarlet, together with Sophia, walked out, causing a stir.
Seeing Scarlet, Mrs Davis was stunned, but she didn’t know whether to be glad or panic. She recalled her friend's words.
‘When they come here in the future, let Scarlet choose the products she wants.’ Mrs Davis knew that Shanaya had thought that cause she was gone, there won’t be any problem with Scarlet showing her true skin.
However, one couldn’t see their country’s native in her. That was one of the reasons that made her panic. What if Mr Jenkins threw them out once more?
Scarlet saw the woman and a young lady next to her and was stunned.
“Aunt,” Scarlet walked towards the woman and greeted her. Mrs Davis looked at her in surprise and looked at Sophia, who was walking behind Scarlet.
“She recalls you and where your shop is located,” Sophia answered when she saw the latter’s questioning looks.
Mrs Davis was happy to hear that. “Come to Aunty. Let me look at you,” she said as she opened her hands for Scarlet.
Scarlet took her hands and turned round as the latter wanted her to.
“Glad you are back. This is my daughter. She is called Samantha,” Mrs Davis introduced Scarlet to her daughter.
“Sam, this is Scarlet. Your aunt Shanaya’s daughter. You guys are of the same age,” Mrs Davis said as she smiled broadly.
Samantha had been stunned when she saw Scarlet. Her skin was so fair and white. She looked like an American native but at the same time Indian cause of how soft her hair looked. She understood that the product she had mentioned on the way was meant for her, but it seemed the latter didn’t use it.
“Hello,” Scarlet greeted her with a smile.
“Hae,” Samantha said as she took Scarlet’s hands from her mother, stunning them.
Samantha couldn’t tell why, but she felt afraid and had the instincts to protect the latter. Especially after feeling that she had discovered why her mother was worried.
“From today, I am your eldest sister. Call me elder sister,” Samantha said, seriously amusing Sophia and her mother.
However, Scarlet didn’t see anything wrong with her. Her eyes were red as she stared at the latter.
Just like this time, she had met with Samantha on the second day upon her return, but in the mall, where she was being bullied by Ann and her friends. The latter had protected her. At that time, she felt safe when she was around the latter and had exchanged even numbers.
However, the latter went abroad in a week, and there was no one to protect her. She returned five years later. When she discovered what had happened to her, she had stormed into the Jenkins mansion, demanding her release, but Ann instructed the guards to attack her.
She had died trying to protect her. Other than her aunt and her godparents, she also made Scarlet guilty. Still, she never expected that Samantha was Mrs Davis' daughter.
“What nonsense are you talking?” Mrs Davis smacked her daughter’s shoulder.
“I am serious, Mom. I have always wanted a sister. What’s wrong with her being my sister? She is so cute and well-behaved. I like her,” Samantha said stubbornly, making her mother shake her head in helplessness.
Though Scarlet was really tempted to accept the latter as her sister, she didn’t want her to get harmed cause of her. Thus, she stubbornly refused to respond.
Seeing how stubborn she was, Sophia looked at Scarlet in worry as she could tell what the latter was really worried about.
“You can be her best friend instead,” Sophia said, making Scarlet glare at her.
“Okay,” Samantha compromised when she saw that Scarlet was unwilling to call her sister. She thought she might be Scarlet’s best friend instead.
Scarlet was bothered. She initially wanted to reject Samantha, but her aunt had made everything difficult for her. She could only nod her head in agreement, but inwardly, she vowed to protect the latter so that she couldn’t be harmed by Ann.
“Scarlet, Sophia. The hairdresser is waiting for you. Come, let’s trim your hair,” Mrs Davis said, making Scarlet stare at her.
She had a feeling that her mother had left some instructions for the latter before her passing. How else could the woman know that her hair always needed to be trimmed when it was tied into a bun?
“Aunt, can I not trim it?” Scarlet asked. Mrs Davis looked bothered and looked at Sophia.
“We can curl it so that it doesn’t seem so long,” Sophia said, and Mrs Davis nodded.
Samantha looked at them curiously before looking at Scarlet’s hair. She wanted to see how long it was.
“What if we dye some parts brown?” Scarlet asked, but her words were directed to her aunt, who was seated beside her.
“No need. You had black hair when you were young. If you change, he might think that you are trying to hide something,” Mrs Davis answered before Sophia made Scarlet fall into deep thoughts.
When she recalled that they would be living with that family for two months, she thought there won’t be any problem as the family won’t dare hurt her during the period cause they wanted something from her. She nodded and let her hair be.
It took them an hour for Scarlet’s and Sophia’s hair to be styled. When Samantha and the hairdresser saw how long Scarlet’s hair was, they were stunned. Samantha became more determined and believed that her guess that Scarlet was an Indian was correct.
Scarlet was so hungry that she was even too lazy to walk. Seeing how she was behaving, Sophia knew what was bothering her and said, “There is a restaurant nearby. Let’s go and eat.”
“I will join you,” Samantha said as she stood up.
“Shouldn’t you now go to school and complete the procedures?” Mrs Davis asked her daughter, making Scarlet freeze.
“Mom, can I not go abroad? I want to accompany Scarlet. What if she is bullied in school?” Samantha asked.
“How do you know that she will go to the same school as you do?” Mrs Davis asked her daughter.
“Ann goes there, so I am sure her father will take her there too,” Samantha said as she controlled herself not to say anything wrong about that man in front of Scarlet.
“You should pursue your dreams,” Scarlet said as she worriedly about Samantha. What if something goes wrong if she doesn’t leave?
Mrs Davis stared at Scarlet and knew that she was afraid that her family affairs but get Samantha, she felt relieved and heartache for her friend’s daughter.
What Mrs Davis could see, Sophia also could, so she held Scarlet’s hand, making Scarlet look at her with confusion.
“They won’t do anything to us in these two months. After that, won’t we have powerful backers?” Sophia whispered to Scarlet, stunning her.
Yes, she had control of everything that was happening in this life. She wasn’t held captive by the Jenkins, so how would Samantha confront Ann?
At that time, the Jenkins' power and status had risen rapidly after taking her properties, but at this moment, the Jenkins were even inferior to the Davis, so how could Ann confront the Davis young miss? Thinking of all these, she felt relieved.
“Okay, I will talk to your father about that. Let’s go and eat something,” Mrs Davis said as she nodded at Scarlet, giving her a reassuring gaze.
They all walked out and went to the restaurant.
“Where are you guys heading after this?” Mrs Davis asked as she looked at Sophia, then at Scarlet.
“I am taking my brand back from the Jenkins Group. We are going to look for a building to open the studio,” Sophia said when she saw Scarlet continuing to eat.
“I know some buildings that have recently been built. Do you want me to take you?” Mrs Dave said as Scarlet took a napkin to wipe her mouth.
“No need, aunty. We already made plans,” Scarlet said. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust the latter but felt that it was better if it stayed between her and her aunt; that way, there won’t be any chance of what they were doing being talked about.
Mrs Davis stared at her for a while and nodded her head. “Okay, I will take Samantha to her father’s office so that we can talk about her next plans.” She understood the meaning behind Scarlet’s words.
"Oh, I almost forgot, there is a banquet today in the evening, why don't you two join us?" she said just as they were about to separate.
