Chapter 85 What’s Going On?

Chapter 85 What’s Going On?
When Luna Rosie was about to remove the knife from her shoulder bag to kill the old woman, suddenly, she heard the voice of her mother, calling her name in the distance. She looked everywhere, looking for the origin of the voice.
“Child, I miss you. Come home now.” Her mother's voice grew louder in her ears, and when she looked at the old woman beside her, she was looking at her mother’s face. How is this possible? How could she kill her own mother?
“Dear, what’s wrong? Are you okay?” the old woman asked.
She shook her head and replied, “It’s getting late. I’m going home,” she said, still seeing the image of her mother on the old woman's face.
What the hell is going on?
She rose to her feet and quickly left, rushing to her car parked near the bakery.
Once inside her car, she broke into tears.
Why didn't she do it?
Why can’t she do it?
Why did her mother’s face have to appear when she was about to claim her first victim?
Does it mean that she doesn't have the strength to kill Mira anymore?
No! This can’t be!
She’s been waiting for this moment to practice killing someone so when she faces Mira, she can kill her without mercy.
But why can't she kill that old woman? Because the woman’s face has turned into her mother’s face and she can’t kill her beloved mother!
Dammit!
She started the engine and went home.
While she was driving her car, she realized that if she didn't do it tonight, she would never be able to kill Mira anymore.
No excuses! She must carry on with her plan.
Now is the perfect time to go to the bungalow house and kill Mira while she still has some energy left and the desire to commit murder.
She decided to go straight to Mira’s place tonight and finish her plan.
It’s now or never!
After a few minutes' drive she finally arrived at the royal family’s property. After passing the high gate, she drove straight to the bungalow house.
She finally arrived at her destination and parked the car in the driveway.
She was glad that she didn’t see her husband's car in front of the bungalow house, which means she can kill Mira easily tonight.
She observes the bungalow house. The lights were still on which meant the inhabitants were still wide awake.
This is it.
The final moment.
She took a deep breath, picked up her shoulder bag and exited the car.
She walked to the verandah and knocked on the door three times.
The door was opened by Lena.
“Good evening, Lena,” she greeted her former personal maid with a smile.
“Good evening, Luna,” Lena responded. “Um, may I know why you are here? What do you want?" she asked apprehensively.
“Relax Lena, I just want to talk to Mira. I have something important to tell her about. Besides, I already miss my unborn child and my body,” she responded calmly, trying to control the sudden urge to want to strangle the annoying maid.
“OK.” Lena reluctantly opened the door and let the visitor into the house.
“Please wait here, Luna. I will inform Mira that you are here for a visit,” Lena said.
“Where is she? Is she alright?” she asked.
“She is in her bedroom. She has the flu, a runny nose and a cold. But nothing to worry about ‘coz she had already taken her medication,” Lena explained.
Nice. Easy to kill her. Luna Rosie’s eyes gleamed dangerously. “OK. I want to see her.”
"Please wait here. I will ask her first if she wants to see you,” Lena said sternly. “Um, I think it’s best if you leave now and come again another day, Luna. You might get infected with the flu,” she said, wanting her to leave.
Luna Rosie was furious, trying her best not to slap Lena’s face.
Lena is a big woman. If she kills her now, the maid will fight back and she might be overpowered and lose her chance of killing Mira.
But she can’t let this moment pass by now that Mira is ill and at her weakest moment. It seems destiny favored her this time, giving her a chance to kill the woman who stole her body, her pregnancy and her husband.
Luna Rosie sighed. “Alright, go ahead and tell Mira that I’m here. I will leave if she doesn't want to see me,” she said calmly, hiding her rage behind a calm facade.
“OK.” Lena moved towards Mira’s bedroom.
Luna Rosie followed Lena quietly.
When Lena entered Mira’s bedroom, Luna Rosie was standing in the doorway.
“Mira, you have a visitor,” Lena said.
“Who is it? Alpha Gideon?” Mira asked, sneezing and coughing while looking at Lena. Then she caught sight of Luna Rosie standing outside the door.
“Hey, Mira, it’s me.” Luna Rosie waved her hand cheerily. “I’m here to visit you. Don’t worry, I won’t stay long. I just want to tell you something important,” she assured her.
Mira sighed. Actually she doesn’t like talking to Luna Rosie right now because she is not feeling well. But she doesn’t want to be rude to her. “Lena, it's okay, let her in. I will talk to her,” she said calmly.
“But you are not feeling well. She can always come back tomorrow or the next day when your condition improves,” Lena insisted. “Besides, she might get infected with your illness,” she argued.
Mira smiled. “It’s okay, let her in the room,” she ordered.
Luna Rosie glared at Lena. She would love to slit the annoying maid’s throat but she will kill Mira first.
She entered the room passing Lena, glaring at her with contempt flashing in her eyes. “Can you leave us for a moment?” she ordered, glaring at her murderously, no longer hiding her animosity towards her former maid.
Lena stepped back. “OK. But Luna, you can’t stay long in the room. I will inform Alpha Gideon that you are here. He will come running if he knows you are here, so please don’t make me do it.”
Luna Rosie smiled diabolically. “Don’t worry, it won’t take long. I promise. So back off!”
She closed the door, slamming it into Lena’s face.
The violent slamming of the door startled Mira. “Whoa, please calm down Luna Rosie,” she said calmly, looking at her pet snake lying beside her on the bed. Brownie was already on alert mode, its forked tongue out, looking at the rowdy visitor, ready to strike if needed.
Luna Rosie turned around and faced Mira. She walked to the bed. “How are you doing? How is my baby in your tummy?” she asked, peering into Mira’s face.
“I have the flu, runny nose and coughing, but I already took medicine, I will be fine. I’ll get better tomorrow,” Mira explained. “Don’t worry, the baby is fine, we’re both fine,” she assured her.
“Good, glad to hear that,” Luna Rosie murmured, smiling a bit as she sat on the edge of the bed, facing Mira. Her expression turned deadly serious.
“Luna Rosie, you can’t stay long in the room. I’m afraid I might have infected you. My flu might be contagious. Please go home early,” Mira requested politely.
“No, I’m not leaving yet. You can’t force me,” Luna Rosie said vehemently. “Are you scared, Mira?” she asked. Her voice carries unmistakable danger, grinning wickedly.
Mira ignored Luna Rosie’s intimidation. “Um, may I know why you came here? You said you had something important to tell me. What is it?” she asked curiously.
Luna Rosie looked at Mira, her eyes gleaming dangerously.
That's when Mira finally took notice that there’s something weird about Luna Rosie today. She looks different, dangerous.
Mira cleared her throat. “If you want to tell me something, go on, I’m listening,” she said urgently, wanting the visitor out of the room.
Luna Rosie broke eye contact with Mira and stared at the wall of the room for a few minutes. Breathing heavily, gathering strength, she looked at Mira again. “I can still remember, after the divination, you offered your life. You are willing to die so I can get my life back. Do you still remember?”
Mira sighed. So she came here because she still couldn't get over the soul swap?
“Do you still remember? You are offering your life to me. That you are ready to die to undo the soul swap?” Luna Rosie said, removing the knife from her shoulder bag, showing it openly to Mira.
Mira gasped in fear, terrified as she watched in horror when Luna Rosie unsheathed the knife, grinning wickedly while pointing the sharp weapon directly at her face.
“Do you still remember your offer, Mira? Answer me!” Luna Rosie demanded in full killer mode.
Mira swallowed the lump forming in her throat, fear gripped her heart. She watched her pet snake slither towards Luna Rosie. She knows snakes are poisonous animals and their venom is deadly.
“Please calm down Luna Rosie. I remember what I said after the shaman’s divination. You can take my life. I won’t fight you. But I beg you to kill me after I give birth to your child. Your baby is innocent. You can’t kill me and expect your baby to survive after I die. For your unborn child’s sake, please don’t kill me too soon,” she said, appealing to whatever remaining amount of mercy is left in the lioness’ cold heart.
Outside, Lena had already sensed danger when Luna Rosie locked the door. She was frantically knocking and banging on the door, demanding to be let in. “Luna Rosie, please open the door! Leave the room now. Alpha Gideon is coming!” she shouted at the top of her lungs.
Luna Rosie completely ignored Lena’s plea.
She looked at Mira, smirking. “No. It's too late for that. I have already made up my mind. Mira. I will kill you now. Then I will drown myself in the lake outside the house. The three of us, my baby included, can go to heaven together. We will all die tonight!" she said solemnly, moving her hand to slit Mira’s throat.
Resigning to her fate, Mira shut her eyes tight, waiting for the sharp blade of the knife to hit her flesh but to her surprise, nothing happened.
She slowly opened her eyes and her mouth fell open in shock because Luna Rosie was no longer moving. She was frozen on the spot like a statue, the tip of the knife was still directed at her face, a few inches away from her neck.
“Jesus Christ!” Mira gushed in shock. Luna Rosie was really serious about her intention of killing her tonight.
But what happened to her? Why was she suddenly frozen?
Fearing that the lioness might wake up at any moment and attempt to kill her again, Mira quickly got out of bed.
That's when she saw her pet snake, its tongue still buried deep in Luna Rosie’s arm.
She finally realized what was going on!
Holy cow!
Her pet snake had bitten Luna Rosie causing her to freeze!
She looked at her pet and ordered, “Stop biting her, release her now,” she ordered.
Brownie reluctantly pulled out his tongue and the knife in Luna Rosie’s hand mysteriously disappeared as if it didn't exist at all.
Mira saw everything. She stared at the snake in awe and shock. ‘Wow, her pet snake is not only invisible but it can also wield magic!’ She was stunned.
She picked up her pet and said, “What have you done to her?” she asked.
Brownie’s mouth parted, grinning mischievously.
“You freeze her?” Mira asked.
In response, Brownie nodded its head.
“Such a naughty snake you are. But thank you very much for saving my life,” Mira said and patted Brownie’s head lovingly. “Now be good and unfreeze her so that she can finally go home and we can resume our sleep,” she ordered.
The snake obeyed and blew a purple light onto Luna Rosie’s arm. The color of Luna Rosie’s skin where the snake has bitten has turned into a purple color.
Luna Rosie finally came back to life and was shocked to see Mira was no longer on the bed and the knife she was holding in her hand had vanished. She looked at Mira. “What happened? What did you do? Where is the knife?” she asked, searching frantically for the weapon all over the bed.
Mira sighed heavily, shaking her head. “The night is getting late. Please go home Luna Rosie. I want to rest early because I have a runny nose and I’m coughing heavily. I don't want you to get infected by the virus I’m having right now,” she said calmly, moving to the door, opening it wide.
Lena entered the room and released a sigh of relief after realizing that no disaster had taken place inside the room.
Luna Rosie immediately notices that something strange is happening to her. The fact that the knife she was holding to kill Mira was gone from her hand and she has no recollection of what exactly happened after she wielded the knife, and her arm suddenly turned purple. It all bothered her deeply.
She felt like she had passed out for a few minutes because she couldn't remember anything.
Did Mira overpower her and removed the knife away from her hand? But Mira looks physically weak right now and she was not holding the knife. So where is the knife?
Lena addressed Luna Rosie. “Luna, please go home now. Please come back another day.”
Luna Rosie ignored her. She was still busy looking for the knife all over the bed.
“What are you looking for? Your bag?” Lena asked, picking up the black shoulder bag from the floor and handing it to her former mistress. “Here’s your shoulder bag,” she said.
After realizing she couldn’t find her knife inside the room, Luna Rosie grabbed her bag, glared at the confused women and left the room in a hurry.
She exited the bungalow house.
She quickly got into her car and glanced at the house. She saw Mira looking at her, standing calmly on the verandah, holding something in her hand, and smirking. But she can’t see what she’s holding, a silhouette of something? What is it?
Damn, she failed to kill Mira tonight. She will return one of these days to finish her enemy!
She started the engine and drove the vehicle back to the mansion to rethink her plan.
Back in the bungalow house…
Mira received a call from Alpha Gideon.
“Hello, babe,” she said.
“Is Rosie still there? Did she give you a problem?” He asked anxiously.
“Calm down. Everything is fine here. Luna Rosie came here to check on me and my pregnancy. She didn't harass me. I told her to go home and come back later after my flu is gone. She has gone home already,” she explained calmly.
“Ah, OK. Good. I’ll text you later. Bye,” he said, feeling relieved.
“Bye, see you tomorrow. I love you,” she said sweetly.
“I love you too,” he responded lovingly.
The couple bid each other goodnight and ended their phone conversation.
Mira lay down on the bed, resuming her sleep, feeling safe knowing she had a powerful protector lying beside her on the bed.
Meanwhile in the mansion, Luna Rosie was pacing back and forth in the middle of her bedroom, trying to recall what just happened when she was about to slit Mira’s throat.
Her mind went blank. What happened? Why can’t she remember a damn thing?
What the fuck happened to her?
