Chapter 218 Extremely Dangerous, He Has Arrived
"Today, neither you nor this guy are getting away!"
The pursuers quickly caught up to Emily and her group. The leader's voice was icy cold.
Emily felt Daniel's body growing colder by the second. She glanced at the people blocking their way, her eyes blazing with fury.
They couldn't afford any more delays.
If something happened to Daniel today, these people would pay with their lives.
Emily unleashed her deadliest move.
Time slipped away in the chaos of the fight.
Emily fought with a ferocity that bordered on madness.
Just then, Knox showed up.
Seeing Emily like this made his heart ache, and his own rage surged.
"Emily, it's me!"
As Knox approached, Emily instinctively reacted, her fingers aiming for his eyes. He was quick enough to catch her wrist, shouting in a deep voice.
"Emily, it's safe now. I've got you!"
Knox's voice was gentle yet firm.
Emily's sanity returned. Recognizing Knox, she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Knox, I need your help. Daniel's in trouble. I have to get him out of here right now!"
Emily quickly and succinctly explained the situation to Knox.
Any other words could wait.
Knox noticed Daniel lying nearby. He hadn't expected that in his rush, he'd still be a step behind Daniel. Or maybe Daniel had been with Emily all along.
Even though he felt a pang of jealousy, since it was Emily's request, he couldn't refuse.
"I've got this. Don't worry!"
Knox replied.
Emily nodded and quickly helped Daniel up to leave.
Knox reminded her, "Our car's outside. Let my men drive if you need to do anything."
Knox took down another attacker and tossed a jade token to Emily.
Thanks to the token, Emily quickly got Daniel back to her place.
She had a spare set of acupuncture needles there.
Emily's expression was serious as she tore open Daniel's shirt. This time, she used a rarely employed technique.
Daniel's condition was critical.
Emily had used seven needles, and by then, sweat was dripping from her forehead, and the air around them had grown cold.
Her eyes were sharp, and her movements didn't falter for a second.
Finally, ten minutes later!
Just before she collapsed from exhaustion, Daniel's face regained some color, and his fingers twitched.
Though Daniel couldn't open his eyes, he was aware of everything happening around him.
It felt like his soul was trapped in a heavy body, unable to muster the energy to open his eyes.
After his fingers twitched, he soon fell back into a deep sleep.
When he woke up again, he tried to move.
He noticed something heavy beside him.
Daniel looked down and saw Emily, her face pale, sleeping by the bed.
Her eyelashes trembled, and she looked fragile and weak.
Daniel's gaze fell on the bleeding wounds on her arms.
He forced himself up, intending to carry her to the bed to rest, and called his men to arrange for Emily to be taken to the hospital.
But as soon as he moved, Emily woke up with a start.
Seeing Daniel awake, she was overjoyed.
But noticing him trying to get out of bed, her face immediately turned stern.
She stood up, supporting herself, and couldn't help but scold him, "You really don't care about your own body, do you? After all the effort I put into pulling you back from the brink, you want to die again, huh?"
This was the first time Emily had scolded Daniel in such a tone.
But Daniel wasn't angry at all.
She didn't realize how lively she looked when she was scolding him.
And she was scolding him because she cared.
Just thinking about that made Daniel's heart race.
"I'm sorry. Please don't be mad."
Daniel apologized gently.
Emily was speechless.
At this moment, the weak Daniel had a kind of sickly beauty.
The way he looked at her so tenderly was almost like he was using his charm.
Emily couldn't bring herself to scold him further.
Daniel took her hand. Emily, realizing it wasn't appropriate, tried to pull away.
But he spoke, "Your wounds need to be treated immediately!"
Daniel's voice had a compelling quality, making Emily's heart tremble.
He was worried about her injuries.
Avoiding his gaze, Emily said in a dry voice, "I'm fine. It's just a scratch, already scabbed over! You rest first. I'll arrange for Hayden's situation and then get you back home. The toxins in your body can't be managed by acupuncture alone; you need medication to suppress them!"
Fortunately, she had been working on a remedy in her basement whenever she had time. It was just one step away from being ready.
"Are you sure you're okay? You don't look well. I'll arrange for you to get checked at the hospital."
Daniel was still worried, looking at her pale face.
To him, no one was more important than Emily.
As for Hayden, he was less significant than a stray dog on the street in Daniel's eyes.
"I'm a doctor. I know my own body best. I said I'm fine, so I'm fine! You, to avoid a second relapse and making me waste my energy saving you again, you need to behave!"
When Emily said "behave," her tone was commanding.
It made the weak Daniel lying in bed look like a little puppy.
"Okay!"
Facing Emily, he couldn't refuse.
Emily finally left the room and contacted Zander, the least combat-capable member of the mercenary group.
He had been the one to take Hayden away first.
But she didn't know where Zander was now.
When Zander saw Emily's call, his nervous heart settled a bit.
Though he wasn't strong, he was smart and very cautious.
That's why he had successfully gotten Hayden out.
"SQ, did you get out safely?" Zander asked urgently.
"I ran into some trouble and didn't come out with the others. Where are you now? How's Hayden?"
Emily replied concisely.
"I'll send you the address. Hayden's with me, he's fine!"
"I'll be there soon!"
Emily breathed a sigh of relief. That was good news.
She hung up and called Leopard's group to check on them.
A small voice answered, "SQ, Leopard's injured and unconscious. We've retreated safely and are heading to the hotel!"
"Good. I'll pick up Zander and Hayden first. If you get there before me, wait for me. Can Leopard hold on?"
Even though she had paid them, Emily genuinely hoped they would return safely. She was very satisfied with their cooperation and wanted to recruit them as her loyal subordinates in the future.
"He's lost a lot of blood, but I've stopped the bleeding. He can hold on for half an hour!"
The small voice reported after checking on Leopard.
Emily understood, "Good, wait for me!"
She was pressed for time and couldn't check on Knox now. She had to handle this first and then check on him later.
But she believed that with Knox's abilities and the help of reinforcements, they would get out safely.
When Emily arrived at Zander's place, she heard sharp shouting from inside as soon as she reached the door.
