Chapter 217 Beating People, She and He Are Very Tacit
"Alright, I'm asking you one last time. Are you gonna tell your men to stand down, or do you want more pain?"
Emily waved the silver needle menacingly.
Orville's mouth opened, but no sound came out. His eyes were filled with terror.
He was deeply religious and superstitious. To him, Emily's methods seemed like divine powers.
Orville's eyes were red and blinking rapidly. If it weren't for the gun pressed against his head, he'd be nodding like a bobblehead.
Daniel caught the message in Orville's eyes and said to Emily, "He agrees. Give him a chance."
Emily had expected Orville, being a regional warlord, to hold out longer.
But this?
Turns out, not everyone has nerves of steel.
Emily withdrew the silver needle and jabbed it again.
"Alright, you can talk now," she reminded him. "But don't try anything funny, or next time it'll hurt even more."
Orville deeply regretted his situation.
He had no choice but to compromise. "I wouldn't dare. If I tell my men to let you leave safely, you have to let me go too!"
Emily's lips curved into a sly smile. "Of course! A promise is a promise."
Orville didn't fully understand but assumed Emily had agreed.
Emily and Daniel exchanged a glance, understanding each other's intentions.
Daniel clearly supported all of Emily's decisions.
Emily then said to Orville, "Tell them to put down their guns."
Orville immediately shouted to his men, "Put down your guns!"
The men hesitated but knew that if they didn't comply and Orville managed to escape, they would face even harsher punishment from him.
So, they cooperated and put down their guns.
Daniel gave York a look, and York quickly led his team to confiscate the guns, leaving one person to guard the group against the wall.
The rest of them took Orville and left the office.
"Everyone, move back!"
This time, Orville didn't need Emily's reminder and immediately ordered his men.
The guards outside, seeing Orville captured, didn't dare make any sudden moves and cautiously stepped back.
"Tell us where the women you're holding are. Take us there!" Emily demanded.
Daniel was surprised.
This place was extremely dangerous. He knew Emily was kind-hearted, but she wasn't a saint. Why would she make such a decision?
Though puzzled, he chose to trust Emily without questioning her.
"Who are you really? Even if I tell you where they're held, how do you plan to get them out with just a few of you? Don't think you can threaten me. If I order their release, I'll be dead before you can act."
Emily smiled, "Just lead the way. The rest isn't your concern."
What she didn't say was that once they reached the location, Orville wouldn't need to stay alive.
He had too much blood of her people on his hands. Killing him a thousand times wouldn't atone for his sins.
Under Orville's command, they encountered patrols but managed to avoid them, reaching the place where the women were held.
The guards, seeing Orville threatened, immediately raised their guns. "Stop! Don't come any closer!"
One of them even sounded the alarm.
Orville smiled bitterly.
Emily and Daniel had anticipated such dangers.
As the alarm sounded and guards rushed toward them, Emily jabbed a silver needle into Orville's pressure point.
Orville didn't even feel the pain before collapsing, unconscious.
Seeing this, the guards raised their guns and fired.
Emily and Daniel moved in sync, each dodging in a different direction, then sprinting forward.
In a swift move, they disarmed two guards.
After dealing with them, Daniel ordered York, "Get the men outside in here."
Emily fired a flare into the sky.
The flare exploded above.
Soon, well-trained reinforcements poured in from all directions.
But the guards arrived first.
Emily, Daniel, and York had to hold their ground to prevent the guards from breaking through their defenses.
Everyone was on high alert, engaging in a fierce battle with the incoming guards.
Emily had used up all her silver needles.
As the fight turned into close combat, Emily and Daniel worked seamlessly together.
She threw a punch.
He followed with a kick.
They took down one enemy after another.
As more guards closed in, Emily and Daniel stood back-to-back. She was breathing heavily but smiled, "If we die here today, will you regret it? Did you come for me?"
"I never regret my decisions. But you should've told me before coming here!"
Daniel didn't regret saving her; he was just upset she took the risk without informing him.
He didn't directly answer if he came for her, but his words made it clear.
Daniel's body wasn't suited for prolonged combat, especially not this relentless fighting.
Unseen by Emily, his face was pale, and he tasted blood in his mouth.
As another group of enemies approached, Emily and Daniel readied themselves for battle.
Gunshots rang out from behind the guards.
Emily's eyes lit up with hope as she looked toward the source of the gunfire.
She recognized the familiar eyes of the team leader, who nodded at her.
Emily was overjoyed.
She turned to share the news with Daniel, "Our backup is here..."
But before she could finish, she felt a weight on her back as Daniel collapsed.
"Daniel, are you okay?" Emily's face changed as she quickly turned and caught him, checking his pulse.
The poison was acting up!
Emily's heart sank.
York noticed Daniel's condition and rushed over after kicking away an enemy. "Mr. Smith, what's wrong? Ms. Johnson, is Mr. Smith okay?"
"The poison's acting up. I don't have my needles. I need to get him out of here immediately. Hold them off."
York didn't hesitate, "Don't worry, I'll clear the way. Mr. Smith is in your hands."
Emily nodded, helping Daniel up and heading out.
With the reinforcements and York's help, Emily managed to evade most of the guards, only sustaining a few injuries on her arm, and got Daniel out of the compound.
Unexpectedly, more guards were heading their way.
Emily set Daniel down to rest and engaged the guards.
To end the fight quickly, Emily fought fiercely.
"Emily, it's us! Get your friend out of here!" a voice called out.
Emily, ready to strike, recognized the voice just in time. It was Leopard, dodging her attack and shouting.
Seeing Leopard and his team, Emily said, "Thanks, guys!"
At this moment, Daniel was the most critical. She couldn't waste any time.
With Leopard's team clearing the way, Emily hurriedly led Daniel out.
But the guards, realizing Emily and Daniel's importance, especially with Daniel as a "burden," split up. Some fought Leopard's team, while others continued to pursue Emily.
