Chapter 135: Then You Can Forget About Leaving This Room
"So, what’s it gonna take for you to agree to treat her?"
Chase didn’t care what expression James might have; his eyes were locked onto Emily as he asked.
Emily glanced around at everyone present.
"Two conditions."
"Spill 'em!"
"First, Dwayne has to apologize publicly online and admit he was a fraud. Second, you, Bianca, and James have to kneel and apologize to me, admitting that you hired someone to impersonate a skilled doctor, when in fact Bianca isn’t a student of any renowned physician, but was just showing off."
"No way!"
Bianca was the first to object, her sharp voice echoing through the room.
James’s face was as dark as a brewing storm.
Even though he knew he was wrong, that being a doctor wasn’t easy, and maybe Emily really was the skilled doctor, he hadn’t trusted her.
He knew he was wrong and was even willing to reconcile with Emily, but how dare she demand he kneel?
Since being brought back to the Smith family, he had been used to being treated with high regard. How could he possibly kneel to anyone?
The incident from years ago, when he had been forced to kneel due to poverty and lack of support, had always been a scar in his heart.
Emily knew this, yet she still pushed him.
"Emily, don’t push it. Kneeling is out of the question."
Chase’s eyes were blazing with anger; he too was unwilling to kneel.
But he was also worried about Aurora lying on the bed.
For a moment, the situation seemed to hit a deadlock.
Emily shrugged, "From what I see, if Aurora doesn’t get treated within half an hour, her life will be in serious danger. You all know who’s responsible, just don’t regret it later."
With that, Emily called for a few medical experts and Aaron to leave.
James signaled to his assistant.
The assistant understood instantly and quickly blocked Emily and her group.
Emily remained calm, "What’s the meaning of this?"
"Emily, you have to treat Aurora today, or you’re not leaving here."
James finally revealed his true colors, looking at Emily with a stern expression.
Emily chuckled, "Do you think this assistant can stop me?"
At this moment, unexpectedly, Dwayne was the first to kneel, "You must be the renowned skilled doctor, please save Ms. Rivera! I didn’t mean to harm her, did I? Mr. Smith and Bianca made me impersonate you because I needed the money, and I genuinely thought I could help."
"I didn’t intend to hurt anyone, did I? Dr. Johnson, please."
Dwayne, in an effort to convince Emily, even knelt to Floyd and Efrain behind her, "Dr. Ryan, Dr. Hubbard, you are compassionate doctors, please persuade Dr. Johnson to help me. I swear I will never do this again!"
Hearing Dwayne say that Emily was the skilled doctor, Chase’s eyes cleared with a clarity he had never had before.
He glared at Bianca, "Did you know Bianca isn’t the skilled doctor? No, you must have known, otherwise, you would have gone directly to Emily. Unless you knew you couldn’t get her, which means Emily is the skilled doctor."
Chase was filled with regret and felt a deep sense of disappointment and unfamiliarity towards Bianca, whom he had always spoiled.
If she could lie about something as important as this, how much of what she had said before was true?
For the first time, he doubted Bianca.
Bianca’s face turned pale, tears streaming down her face, "Chase, I didn’t mean it. We begged Emily, but she refused. And at the time, she just claimed she was the skilled doctor. We didn’t believe her because she had always been a poor student. Isn’t it normal not to believe she had such skills?"
At this point, Floyd and Efrain, respected authorities in the medical field, stepped forward to clear Emily's name.
"Emily is the skilled doctor. You all claim to be her family, yet you don't even have basic trust and understanding. Do you deserve to call yourselves her family?"
"I didn't mean it, Emily, please forgive me and treat Aurora. I know you won't let her die."
Bianca's tears fell like broken pearls, her frail body trembling, looking particularly sincere and pitiful.
But Emily shook her head, "The ones willing to let her die are you. I said, agree to my two conditions, and I will treat her."
Bianca bit her lip, stubbornly refusing to kneel.
Chase's face darkened, his eyes filled with anger as he looked at Emily, "Making us kneel, aren't you afraid of bad karma?"
Emily shrugged, "Then don’t blame me if I can’t help. If anything happens to Aurora, don’t blame me. It’s Bianca and James’s pitiful pride that stopped them."
Emily seemed to have predicted Bianca's intentions, blocking her words.
She turned to leave.
James made a phone call.
Soon, several suited bodyguards rushed in, blocking Emily's way.
"I said, if you don't treat her, you won't leave."
Emily's face turned dark.
"This is between us. If you want to stop me, fine, but don't involve the innocent. Aaron is from the Hill family, and Mr. Ryan and Mr. Hubbard are respected figures in the medical field. Are you sure you want to offend them? Let them go first!"
Emily wasn’t backing down.
Mainly, Floyd and Efrain were getting old, and to avoid any accidental injuries, Emily wanted to send them out first, making it easier for her to act.
Bianca tried to stop it, "James, no, what if they leave and bring help?"
Emily's sharp gaze shot towards Bianca, "Fool, do you think if the medical authorities stayed missing, they wouldn’t be traced here? Even you wouldn't withstand the consequences!"
Bianca's face stiffened.
She actually found Emily's words reasonable.
James spoke, "Let them go!"
But Floyd and the others were unwilling, "Emily, no, let us stay. I don't believe the Smith family can cover this up and let us die here. We can't leave you!"
Emily was touched.
She subtly blinked at them, mouthing silently, "You leave, I can handle it."
Aaron understood.
He obediently helped persuade Floyd and the others to leave.
Once they were out the door, James continued, "Now, go treat her. I will compensate you."
Suppressing her dislike, Bianca also persuaded, "Emily, if I were you, I'd be sensible and treat her. If something happens to Aurora, only we will be here, and it will become your fault for insisting on treating her despite our warnings, causing her death."
Anyway, everyone in the room was on her side now. Emily was indeed foolish to have sent Aaron and the others away.
Isolated and helpless!
Bianca's demeanor changed from weak to smug, smiling provocatively, "Emily, scared now? Just go treat her, and none of this will happen."
Emily looked at James, "Do you think the same?"
James sighed, "If you treat her, none of this will happen. You'll still be my fiancée!"
"I refuse!"
Emily said stubbornly.
Her eyes grew colder towards James.
James seemed stung by her gaze and suddenly ordered the bodyguards, "Grab her, restrain her hands."
"If you cooperate, you won't suffer!"
"Such arrogance, do you think this is a mafia operation?" The door suddenly burst open.
Daniel's face appeared, with York beside him.
