Chapter 134 Almost Killed Someone, Exposed
"What the hell? You jerk, how dare you pretend to be a real doctor."
Chase heard Dwayne's muttering and his face darkened with rage.
Unable to hold back, he punched Dwayne square in the face.
Dwayne, holding a silver needle, fell to the ground from Chase's punch. The needle accidentally jabbed into his own body, causing him to cry out in pain.
His mind finally cleared.
Looking at Aurora, who was growing paler by the second, he feared she might die right then and there.
If she died, he’d be facing jail time for sure.
No way, he couldn’t go to jail.
"Ms. Johnson, Mr. Smith, you gotta help me. I did everything just like you told me, but she doesn’t have the illness described in that manual. I can't go to jail! What should we do?"
Dwayne, now looking nothing like a doctor, crawled to Bianca and James, desperately clutching their pants and pleading.
"So you finally admit it, you’re a fraud."
Aaron spoke up at the right moment.
Chase, initially stunned by Dwayne’s revelation, felt his mind buzzing and couldn’t react immediately.
Aaron’s words brought him back to his senses.
His eyes turned red with anger as he looked at Bianca.
"Bianca, you lied to me! This guy isn’t the skilled doctor you claimed he was. You brought in a fake for your own selfish reasons, didn’t you? How could you do this, Bianca? I thought you were kind. Aurora is a living person! What have you done?"
Chase grabbed Bianca’s shoulders, shaking her in his agitation.
The weak Bianca felt dizzy from the shaking.
"Chase, I’m not feeling well. Let go of me, I can explain."
Bianca spoke weakly, trying to endure the discomfort.
James, remembering that Bianca was pregnant with his child, quickly grabbed Chase's hands. "Chase, calm down. Bianca is pregnant and already weak..."
His voice was deliberately louder, carrying an air of authority.
Chase finally calmed down, his face tense. "Explain, what’s going on? And, aren’t you supposed to have medical skills? Check on Aurora, what’s wrong with her? Can you treat her? At least stabilize her condition!"
Freed from Chase’s grip, Bianca took a few deep breaths to steady herself.
James had immediately thought of protecting her, which meant she still held a place in his heart.
Bianca, teary-eyed, glanced at James. Seeing his tense face and pursed lips, she knew he was also in a tough spot.
"Chase, don’t worry, Aurora should be fine. James and I were also deceived by this Dwayne. He kept insisting he was a great doctor who could cure Aurora, so I thought he was the real deal."
Bianca explained as she walked to the bed to check Aurora’s pulse.
She had thought Aurora’s condition would just be as bad as before, and she could find a way to clear her name later.
But as she felt Aurora’s pulse, she almost let her true emotions show.
How could this be!
Aurora’s life force was rapidly fading. If they didn’t find a real doctor today, Aurora might not survive.
No, she couldn’t let the blame fall on her and James.
She tried her best to hide her reaction.
Emily and the few medical experts following her could see what was happening.
But Bianca, eager to shirk responsibility, lied, "Chase, don’t worry, Aurora’s condition is about the same as before."
"Then why is she coughing up blood?"
Bianca’s eyes flickered, her mind racing. "It’s probably old blood clots. See how it’s black? Actually, she’s a bit better than before."
Emily almost laughed at Bianca’s blatant lie.
"Bianca, if this is the extent of your medical skills, you have no business being a doctor."
Bianca, teary-eyed, looked at Emily. "Emily, how can you be so cold-hearted at a time like this? Aurora is in this state, and I’m just trying to keep Chase from worrying. If you’re so capable, why don’t you treat her?"
James, understanding that Bianca’s earlier words to Chase weren’t true, realized he too could be implicated if Aurora died.
James frowned and looked at Emily. "Emily, I know you’re kind-hearted. Please treat Aurora. She’s important to Chase."
Emily frowned. "Weren’t you the one calling me ruthless earlier? Now you’re saying I’m kind-hearted. I’ve cut ties with Chase. And who was it that assured everyone this guy was a skilled doctor? Bianca said her teacher wouldn’t make a mistake. Now you’re saying you were deceived. When you lie, at least use some brains and don’t take everyone for fools."
Bianca’s face turned ugly, wanting to retort.
But Emily didn’t give her the chance, continuing, "I know what you’re up to. You want me to treat Aurora to avoid responsibility. If I succeed, it’s your credit. If I fail and Aurora gets worse or dies, you’ll blame me. Isn’t that right?"
"Emily, no way!" Bianca hated how sharp Emily had become, but she had to lower her head. "Emily, we’re all doctors. We just want to treat Aurora quickly. You said doctors have compassionate hearts. You’ll help, right?"
Chase, not caring about Dwayne’s fraud for now, realized Emily had a better chance of saving Aurora.
So he urgently said, "Emily, this is a matter of life and death. She might be my future wife. Please treat her. If you save Aurora, you’ll still be part of the Johnson family, still my sister. I’ll let go of the past and treat you better."
Bianca chimed in, "Emily, hurry and agree with Chase. You’ll still be part of the Johnson family, and we’ll protect you."
"I’ve seen shameless people, but you two take the cake. You’re asking Emily to treat her, but you make it sound like you’re doing her a favor."
Aaron couldn’t stand it anymore and scolded them.
Bianca looked embarrassed, her eyes red as she gazed at Emily.
Chase frowned. "Who are you? This is between me and my sister. It’s none of your business!"
James disliked Aaron’s presence. His support for Emily made James feel inadequate.
But he knew what needed to be resolved now.
"Emily, tell us what it’ll take for you to treat her. If it means reconciling with me, I’m willing to..."
"If that’s your offer, forget it!"
Emily cut him off, her disdain evident.
