Chapter 136: What If I Take It Seriously

Chapter 136: What If I Take It Seriously

"Daniel!"

James couldn't believe his eyes. What was Daniel doing here?

The moment Daniel spoke, James felt a chill run down his spine.

Daniel knew Emily was his girl, yet he always stood up for her, clearly trying to win her over.

The idea of Emily actually falling for another guy—especially Daniel, someone he'd never be able to outshine—made James sick with jealousy and despair.

"You okay? Did something scare you?"

Emily shook her head, feeling a warmth in her chest. "I'm fine, don't worry. Daniel, what brings you here?"

Did he come just for her?

Normally, Daniel might have denied it or shrugged it off as a coincidence.

But this time, he just smiled quietly.

His silence made Emily's mind race, adding to the mystery.

James noticed Emily's shift in attitude towards Daniel, his pupils narrowing.

Could something have happened between them?

Just the thought made James' eyes burn with rage, teetering on the brink of madness.

Bianca was green with envy, watching Emily connect with Daniel.

No way, she couldn't let this happen.

She quickly stepped forward and said to Daniel, "Mr. Smith, you misunderstood James. He didn't have a choice. Emily claimed she could heal but refused to help, and James was just trying to convince her to treat the patient. His tone might have been harsh, and you took it the wrong way."

Daniel's eyes swept over her, cold and indifferent, "You again! Are you questioning my hearing?"

"No, that's not what I meant, I just..."

"Shut up! When Mr. Smith speaks, you don't get to interrupt!"

York sensed Daniel's impatience and snapped at her.

Bianca's face went pale, her lips trembling, but she didn't dare say another word.

With the room quiet again, Daniel asked Emily to explain what happened.

Emily gave a quick rundown, including the two conditions she had set.

Daniel's gaze turned icy as he looked at James and Bianca, "Since you claim to be compassionate, to let Emily treat the patient, you must comply with her conditions."

He then ordered York, "York, make sure they follow through."

York had brought elite bodyguards with him.

These bodyguards were far superior to those around James.

Knowing Daniel's status and their own limitations, they didn't dare make a move.

"Mr. Smith, no, don't be fooled by Emily. She was just flirting with a guy named Aaron. She doesn't really care about you."

Daniel was about to follow Emily inside to treat Aurora when Bianca's words made him pause.

Suddenly, he wrapped his arm around Emily's shoulder, his voice magnetic and firm, "If Emily is willing to deceive me, it means she cares about me. I'm happy to accept that!"

Emily's mind buzzed.

What was he saying?

It felt like a heartfelt confession, a high-status person bending down for love—nothing more moving than that.

Emily's mind went blank.

She walked, supported by Daniel.

Bianca's envious gaze was venomous as she looked at Emily.

Her nails dug into her flesh, but she didn't feel the pain.

Bitch, bitch!

Emily was just a nobody, how could she deserve Daniel's love, especially such absolute adoration?

And what did James, whom she had manipulated, amount to?

Not only was he far inferior to Daniel, but now he couldn't even see her anymore.

At this moment, as she was forced to kneel and apologize on camera, James was useless.

Chase was still in shock.

Daniel liked Emily!

He was even willing to humble himself for her!

Daniel's sharp eyes must have seen something special in Emily. Could it be that his previous impressions of her were all wrong?

The more Chase thought about it, the more he recalled past events.

He had already started doubting Bianca, and now, reflecting on his memories, he realized that every time his dislike for Emily increased, it was because of Bianca.

Every time Bianca cried, acted pitiful, or "helped" Emily, they ended up disliking Emily even more.

It was all Bianca's manipulation that made him hate Emily.

"Hurry up, kneel and apologize!"

York kicked Chase's leg, snapping him out of his thoughts, and he fell to his knees, finally waking up.

Emily quickly administered acupuncture to Aurora and gave her a prepared pill.

The pill dissolved immediately.

As she continued with the acupuncture, Aurora's complexion improved.

Dwayne, who was temporarily ignored, craned his neck to watch Emily's technique. The first few needles matched his own methods.

But with the fourth needle, he saw a completely different technique, and his eyes widened.

As Emily inserted more needles, Aurora's eyelids fluttered, showing signs of regaining consciousness.

Dwayne finally realized that Emily's medical skills were far superior to his.

With the last needle, Aurora slowly opened her eyes.

Emily's acupuncture had drained her energy, and as she finished, she felt weak and was about to collapse.

Daniel frowned and immediately supported her.

"I'll take you to the hospital!"

He was about to carry Emily out.

"No need, just a bit of rest, and I'll be fine."

Emily knew her condition and smiled, "Did you forget I'm a doctor myself? Are you worried about me?"

"What if I am?"

Daniel's gaze was deep, his words tender.

Emily's heart skipped a beat, "Sorry, I was just joking."

"But I might take it seriously."

Daniel's gentle eyes reflected her image.

Emily realized she wasn't good at expressing herself, running out of words.

Daniel didn't seem to need an immediate answer. He calmly said, "Let's not discuss this now, you need to rest well."

Aurora, now awake, thanked Emily, "Ms. Johnson, thank you."

"I charge for my services. Remember to transfer the payment, I'll send you my account details later."

As Emily finished speaking, Daniel lifted her up.

Startled, she instinctively wrapped her arms around Daniel's neck.

Daniel's smile grew more pronounced, not bothering to hide his feelings from Emily.

Daniel carried Emily away in front of Chase, James, and Bianca.

James reacted the most, struggling to get up, but the bodyguards forced him to kneel, making him look pathetic and weak.

The difference between him and Daniel was like night and day.

Bianca cursed inwardly, feeling useless.

Chase, hearing Emily and Aurora's conversation, suddenly became smart.

"Aurora, do you know my sister? Do you have her contact information?"

Chase now considered Emily his sister again.

Breaking ties with him seemed like child's play.

Aurora looked at Chase, seemingly manipulated by Bianca, and her newly formed good impression of him faded.
