Chapter 332 Chapter 332 I didn't push her.
Caelan Cooper lunged forward, ready to grab Eileen Stevens, but Lynx Black was quick to block him.
Lynx's face turned icy. "Caelan Cooper, if you're going to lose your mind, at least pick a better place! This is my hospital!"
With red eyes, Caelan shouted, "What does it matter if it's your hospital? My son didn’t make it! It’s Eileen Stevens’ fault! Why are you protecting her?"
Eileen furrowed her brow. "Caelan Cooper, what are you talking about?"
He glared at her. "Myrtle clearly said before she fell into a coma that you pushed her! You were afraid she’d have the baby and take your shares, so you knocked her down and caused her to miscarry! Eileen Stevens, how could you be so cruel? That baby was only two months along!"
Eileen's expression changed, and she coldly replied, "Caelan Cooper, don’t say things you can’t prove. I didn’t do anything like that!"
Caelan’s eyes, filled with rage and sorrow, looked like they were burning with poison as he fixed his gaze on Eileen. "It was you!"
"Eileen Stevens, I really misjudged you. I thought you had changed, but it turns out you’re still such a vicious woman!"
As Caelan continued to shout, Finlay Stevens and Davina Evans rushed in.
Upon hearing the accusations, Finlay wasted no time and raised his hand to slap Eileen. "You ungrateful daughter!"
But the slap never landed, as Lynx Black firmly intercepted it.
In a cold voice, Lynx said, "Mr. Stevens, I respect you as an elder, but please don’t cause a scene in my hospital."
The Black family had substantial power, and Finlay didn’t dare to argue back with Lynx. He angrily pulled back his hand, saying, "I’ll deal with you at home!"
Meanwhile, Davina had collapsed onto a nearby bench, crying out, "My poor daughter! This was her first child! We even picked out a name! How could this happen?"
She got up and lunged toward Eileen, not intending to hit her, and Lynx felt it was inappropriate to stop a woman.
This gave Davina Evans the perfect opportunity. She grabbed Eileen Stevens by the collar, crying and shouting, "Eileen, how much resentment do you have against me? Take it out on me!"
"You hate that I took your mother's place. You want to kill me! Go ahead! Why did you have to hurt Myrtle? She's so young, and her child isn't even fully formed yet!"
Davina shook Eileen, pushing her against the wall, her hair falling messily around her, looking like a madwoman.
But at that moment, no one thought she was crazy; they only saw a mother whose heart was shattered for her daughter.
Eileen Stevens furrowed her brow tightly. She reached out and grabbed Davina's hand, pulling her away, and said coldly, "I told you, it wasn't me. I didn't push her."
As soon as Eileen released her grip, Davina seemed to fall as if she had been pushed, landing directly on the ground.
Davina paused for a moment, then started crying again, "Eileen, do you think that wasn't a push? What do you call pushing? Do I have to push her off a cliff for it to count?"
"You have such a cruel heart! She's a pregnant woman; how could you do this to her?"
Finlay Stevens crouched down to help Davina up, comforting her, "Davina, get up. The ground is cold."
Davina collapsed into Finlay's arms, sobbing, "Finlay, just let your daughter kill me! I’ll take the blame! Just don’t hurt my child!"
Finlay's eyes reddened at Davina's tears, feeling a wave of sympathy.
He shot a disgusted glance at Eileen and said, "I don't have a daughter like that!"
Lynx Black pulled Eileen aside and said, "This is going to end badly! You need to come with me now; otherwise, I won't be able to explain this to Niles!"
Eileen shook her head, "Do you think I can just leave? If I go, Myrtle will only smear my name in front of the elders!"
Lynx Black grew anxious, "Then what do we do? Are we just going to let you go back and fight them?"
Eileen Stevens waved her hand dismissively. "They can't take me on. It's just some back-and-forth banter; it won't escalate.
You should look into it more—there's definitely something wrong with Myrtle Stevens's pregnancy."
Lynx Black paused, confused. "What kind of problem could there be?"
Previously, their investigation had led them to believe that Myrtle might have been faking her pregnancy, which was why she had bought those pills to ensure a boy. But now, it was clear that Myrtle had indeed miscarried; the baby was gone. How could that be faked?
Eileen furrowed her brow. "I don’t know... I just have a feeling that something's off."
"Check into it. I'll handle things on my end and sort through my thoughts before I get back to you."
Lynx Black couldn't argue with her and nodded. "Alright, I'll see if she bribed any doctors at First Hospital. Just be careful."
As Lynx Black left, Davina Evans began to cry even louder, as if it was her own child that had died rather than Myrtle's. Regardless, her tears only fueled the anger of Finlay Stevens and Caelan Cooper, who were both glaring at Eileen Stevens, wishing they could take their frustrations out on her.
Half an hour later, the lights in the emergency room finally turned off. The nurse wheeled Myrtle Stevens out of the room and into a hospital ward with her family.
The anesthesia from the miscarriage procedure wore off quickly, and Myrtle woke up just a few minutes later. Her pale face showed her distress as she asked, "Where's my baby?"
At her words, Caelan Cooper's heart ached even more. He took Myrtle's hand gently and said softly, "Myrtle, listen to me. We’ll have more children in the future..."
Myrtle immediately pulled her hand away, struggling to sit up. With red-rimmed eyes, she asked, "What do you mean 'in the future'? Where is this baby I just lost?"
Davina Evans rushed to the bedside, crying, "Myrtle, please don’t say that! If you keep this up, the baby won't rest easy."
Myrtle Stevens clutched her stomach, tears streaming down her face as she murmured, "You’re lying! Lying! My baby is still here! It's still here!"
Caelan Cooper wrapped his arms around her, trying to comfort her. "Myrtle, the doctor said you need to rest. Please don’t get too worked up."
But Myrtle lifted her gaze to Eileen Stevens in the hospital room, her pupils dilating as she trembled and asked, "Why is she still here?"
Before anyone could figure out how to respond, Myrtle shouted, "She pushed me! She killed my baby! Why is she still here?"
Eileen Stevens frowned, taken aback by Myrtle's accusations. Although she was used to Myrtle's tendency to twist the truth, it was shocking that Myrtle would make such a serious claim. Eileen couldn't help but feel a bit impressed by Myrtle's audacity.
Myrtle's emotions spiraled out of control as she yelled, "Get her out! Get her out! I never want to see her again!"
"Okay, okay, my darling, I’ll make her leave," Davina Evans said, wiping her tears. "Eileen, you’ve done enough. Please, just give us some space."
Myrtle collapsed into Caelan's arms, sobbing uncontrollably. "My baby! My baby!"
Finlay Stevens could no longer stand by. He picked up a cup from the hospital room and hurled it at Eileen. "Get out! The farther away, the better!"
