Chapter 274
Chapter 274
Nadia lowered her head in disappointment as she had just been about to ask Ivanna whether she really saw her as her sister. What if she thought that, and the sisters didn’t accept her as one? Now, she couldn’t with the presence of other people.
She recalled Ivanna mentioning the Bakers, who meant that the young lady who had been here had called her parents when she saw Ivanna on the stage, as that was the timeline that matched.
Kyrell turned cold while Emric’s eyes darkened.
“How did she call her parents?” Averett asked with a frown on his face.
“She might have called earlier, even before she came here,” Dylan said in a cold tone, as he had never seen the person so shameless.
“Go invite them here. Let’s see what they want. Someone else to go and pick Fiona right now,” Abby said coldly, as she wasn’t going to let the young lady go after plotting against them. Of course, that was the plan that others thought of.
When Fiona was brought in, she trembled when she felt that the atmosphere wasn’t as good as before. It was so gloomy, cold, and filled with murderous intentions.
“You called your parents cause you have started plotting against my family?” Abby asked the latter coldly, making Fiona tremble in fear, but she refused to answer till her parents were here.
“She is waiting for her parents,” Ivanna said in a low tone, making Fiona freeze as she had not seen Ivanna in the room. She lifted her head, which had been lowered, and looked at the latter, her eyes full of hatred, anger, and jealousy.
“Just take out those eyes. How dare she look at my daughter like that!” Mr Alessandro said angrily and emitted a murderous aura, causing Fiona to flinch and immediately lower her head.
However, how could Isley let her go so easily? She slapped the latter on both faces, held her hair and pulled them, forcing her to look at.
“You'd better answer the question asked, or you don’t want to die before your parents walk in? Oh, and don’t say that we will go to prison; whenever we go, we are the law. If we say that I killed you cause you tried to kill the Barnes young miss, everyone will believe me. Do you get it?” she asked coldly, making Fiona go numb, but she was in so much pain, she just didn’t want to show them. She held back her tears.
However, when she heard Isley's words, she trembled, and her eyes kept blinking; she really regretted what she had done.
“Many have tried to scheme against us, you know. Some of them are already dead, others have become so poor. What do you think will happen to you and your parents, huh?” Abby asked coldly.
“I swear, I didn’t tell them that Ivanna is a Barne. I just told them that projects were being bid here, and a lot of business people. If they came, there might be someone to turn the tide of our company,” Fiona said hurriedly when she saw Isley wanting to slap her once more.
If she were slapped till her face was disfigured, what would happen? How would she even show her face to the public? Now, the most important thing is to tally till her family arrives.
“You think that I believe you? Your friends are already outside. They had been waiting for you. Who knows the kind of rubbish they told your parents when they saw them?” Ivanna said coldly, making Nadia stunned as she had not even once seen her so cold. However, thinking of what the lady made her go through, she understood everything.
Fiona turned her gaze to glare at Ivanna when she recalled why she had been slapped before, and she controlled her anger.
“It seemed that despite sleeping in prison for a couple of days, you haven’t changed at all. You still glare at my sister. If we weren’t here, what would you have done to her, huh?” Emric said coldly when she saw her actions. He was so angry.
“How can she be afraid of prison in that city? Maybe her parents gave the police something to take care of her when she was in there,” Ivy said mockingly when she looked at Fiona, hoping that she would be taught a good lesson this time around. She wanted peace when they resumed classes, as they only had a month before their college entrance exams and needed all the concentration they could get.
“Who are you to talk?” Fiona said angrily, feeling that in front of the Barnes and the big families around, Ivy didn’t have any right to speak.
This made Emric angry, as one of his people was being bullied even before him.
“Good, good. Mom, I think she never learnt the last time. This time, let her stay in the capital city prison. With Tyson present, I believe that the police won’t dare accept a bribe from that family. Oh, I forgot, where can they get connections in the capital? She might even die after two days of staying in,” he said coldly, and Fiona regretted it.
“Do you think that your family background is impressive? Ivy is the daughter of one of the wealthy families here. She is given respect by people who come across her, and you are here reprimanding her? I think that the only identity you can get in front of her is being her servant who wipes her shoes, the floor as she passes. Do you understand? You aren’t even worth cooking for her or touching her, so where do you get the guts to open your filthy mouth to reprimand her?” Isley asked coldly as she felt that the girl was really courageous. Did she really think that their family couldn’t do anything to her?
Watching everything happening to her, Ivanna realized that even if the Baker's company was going through a crisis, Fiona still had a backbone to cause chaos. She had been working too slowly on them, as she didn’t have her own power to make them bankrupt and didn’t want to use her family's.
Now that she had the Hills Group, couldn’t she just swap her fingers, and the group would be ruined? She took her phone out and dialed Mr Hill's name.
“Young miss,” the other party greeted warmly.
“Hello. I want you to bankrupt the Bakers Group in City F,” she said coldly, making everyone in the room and the man on the other side flinch.
“I am giving you ten minutes. I believe that you can do it, right?” she asked, making the man gulp before nodding hurriedly. At that time, he realized that the latter wasn’t in front of her.
“Yes. I can do it,” he said in a hurry, and Ivanna nodded her head as a smile formed on her face.
“Then get to it immediately,” she said, then hung up the call.
“No. You can’t do that. That would be abusing your power,” Fiona said when she came back to reality.
“Oh, girl. Unlike you, who depend on your parents. I have my own companies and connections. I don’t need to depend on my family to get rid of yours,” Ivanna said. “I originally wanted to take things slowly, but who knew that you still had the guts to continue causing trouble? Just because you are the Baker’s daughter? That identity gave you a lot of confidence, and now you blame me?” Ivanna said coldly.
“You grew up in the Baker's mansion. What right do you have to make them bankrupt? I have never seen someone who doesn’t know how to be grateful,” Fiona said angrily as she was truly afraid. If their family went bankrupt, won’t it mean that they will be poor and she couldn’t have the life she had been living recently?
“Oh? I remember paying your parents ten million dollars to terminate our relationship, right? That ten million paid them for all the years they brought me up. Weren’t you and your mother who asked for that amount, wanting to make things difficult for me? Now, after paying and not having anything to do with your family, you come here and start talking about being grateful? If we were to talk about those who are grateful or not, why do I recall that you didn’t give your adopted parents anything after going back to the Bakers?” Ivanna asked, making Fiona’s face turn pale.
“They never treated me well. I ate their leftovers, and the clothes that I own were bought for cents. I did the cleaning for them. Didn’t that pay them for the years they brought me up?” Fiona asked angrily as she looked at Ivanna with hatred.
“Okay, I understand. Then doesn’t mean that the clothes you forced me to wash, the cleaning, the cooking. The beating and the burns you inflicted on me paid your family for bringing me up?” Ivanna asked, causing Fiona to bite her lower lip as she had really forgotten about that when she confronted Ivanna.
“Do you know that burning someone, beating. Actually, she was underage. Can we charge you for everything you did to her? Yes, we didn’t have anything to report to you to the authorities with, won’t that be the perfect report?” Emric said with a cold smile as he really wanted the girl to go behind bars.
“Hahaha. You can’t do that. That will be the same as telling the world that the Barnes Young miss has burns. Won’t your faces be ruined?” Fiona asked in a good mood, thinking that she had gotten a way to avoid prison.
