Chapter 273

Chapter 273
Everyone looked at Nadia, then at the Martinez brothers, though they wondered what was wrong with Nadia.

“I apologized before, I know, but they never said anything. I feel that I shouldn’t just assume they forgive me, and maybe they didn’t. It isn’t right. That is why I am apologizing once more,” Nadia said when she felt everyone’s gaze on her and understood what they were thinking.

Maybe they thought that she had been pretending before and had started scheming. She felt wronged, and that was why she apologized.

“Especially big brother. I am sorry, I should never have called you names, destroyed your belongings, everything I did, I am sorry. Please forgive me,” she said sincerely, making Marcelo sigh.

If he wondered whether, after this, Nadia would really go back to the Martinez and remain quiet about everything that had happened. He didn’t understand why Ivanna trusted her despite knowing what she had done. Such a person should always be kept in their eyes.

What he was thinking, Mr Alessandro was thinking the same thing, not because he didn’t believe that the latter had really repented and wanted to change, but just to avoid something from happening. It was better safe than sorry.

“I forgave you. I have never held whatever you did against me; you have been my sister. If I minded whatever you did and you are my younger sister, how could I be worthy of being called a big brother?” Marcello said when he saw Nadia staring at him with worry and panic.

He just thought that he would send someone to keep an eye on her. If she did anything against his sister, plot something, or even tell anyone Ivanna’s identity, then there was no need to be merciful to her cause of all the years they had been together.

He would just make regret ever opposing her. He didn’t dare take her with them. It would have been fine if he were going there as the richest man’s son, but he was going there as the mafia king’s son. There was no way he would let her know of this identity. He also knew that his sisters weren’t so stupid as to tell her so; he didn’t need to worry that they would expose that.

“I forgive you, too,” Tyson said, and the other brothers followed.

“Hmph, don’t think that because I am forgiving you that you can do whatever you want. If I ever find out that you did something against my sisters, I won’t wait for Isley to kill you; I will kill you myself,” Cody said coldly as he glared at Nadia, making Nadia nod her head stiffly. Her actions only made the others think that she was planning something, and upon hearing Cody’s words, she became afraid.

Isley smiled when she heard that and turned to him. She had already seen how Nadia reacted to the threat and wondered how she had managed to remain calm when she had been threatening her previously. She didn’t think like the others; she knew that she had reacted that way, as she never expected the man to say that. She was afraid that she might be killed.

“I will teach you how to torture someone with a dagger later,” she said with a smile, stunning Cody as he never expected her cold and aloof sister to suddenly smile at the cause of her words. He wondered whether his sister liked to hear such things cause she had grown up in the mafia.

The other brothers were jealous when they saw Isley smiling at Cody and regretted going softly at Nadia. They didn’t need to care as long as they got their sister’s smile.

“Why are you all jealous of your own brother? She is my fiancée; her smile should only be seen by me!” Nick said, making Ivanna turn to him with a teasing smile.

“Sister, Nicky is jealous. Don’t go around smiling, who knows what will happen to him?” Ivanna said to her sister.

Isley turned to the man and glared at him. “Don’t try to control me if you don’t want to end up six feet under.” She said coldly, making the brothers and Mr Alessandro sigh in relief.

They had been angry that their sister and daughter, respectively, were going to get married and be away from them. She would be snatched from them, fall in love with the man, and always be soft-hearted towards him, but when they saw how Isley treated her, they felt happy knowing that their sister and daughter didn’t fall for him.

Nadia also sighed in relief, “After seeing how sister treated her fiancée, I am relieved to know that she isn’t cold to me alone,” she said, earning some chuckles in the room and a glare at Isley.

“Oh?” Isley asked as she eyed her. She had already decided to go slow on the latter when she had seen her sister’s smile previously. She felt that killing or hurting the latter wasn’t worth making her sister mad at her.

Citrine watched whatever was happening with empty eyes. Her children had even accepted Nadia, who had nothing to do with them, but still refused to acknowledge her. She wondered when it would be her time, smiling and playing around with her daughters. At the same time, she was happy when she saw how close they looked to each other; they were all her kids, and she wanted them to treat each other like family. Even Nadia, since she had repented, apologized, and somehow changed, was willing to treat her as her daughter once more.

Abby saw her blank expression and sighed. She couldn’t make a decision for Ivanna or even force her into forgiving the latter. However, she planned on making the two meet, talk to each other to help Ivanna get close to her mother and eventually forgive her. She also felt pain seeing her best friend in pain.

It wasn’t that she ever wanted to snatch the latter’s daughter. When she took Ivanna as her goddaughter, that was to protect her as her best friend’s daughter. She had kept her distance as she didn’t want to be so attached to the girl, afraid that when she acknowledged her family, she would be hurt. She never wanted to get hurt. Just as she was keeping her distance, the latter called, calling her mom, breaking the walls that she had built between the two of them.

She had convinced herself that when Ivanna knew her daughter, she would just be her second mother. But who would have guessed that Ivanna had such a strong reaction to her biological mother that not even forgive her despite everything being explained to her? At that time, she had felt relieved, but when she saw how hurt her best friend was, she felt guilty and started feeling there was nothing wrong with sharing the child’s love, as Ivanna would be receiving two motherly loves the same way her husband and Mr Alessandro were doing.

Isley and everyone else were, though, confused about whether Ivanna really took Nadia as her sister. However, they didn’t dare ask anything as they were afraid that if they asked and Ivanna rejected it, won’t Nadia would feel hurt and start turning dark again?

All this time, Floyd's eyes were on Ivanna. He had not seen her for weeks, thus he had missed her miserably. He loved seeing her smile; thus, every time he saw her smiling, a warm smile would also reflect on his face. If he saw her frown, he would even frown deeper. He wanted to protect her and make everyone who hurts her pay. When he saw her being hugged by Nadia, he was so jealous and glared at the lady, deeply wishing that he would stand up and get rid of the woman, clean Ivanna up so that she won’t have any of Nadia’s scent, who knew Isley would defeat him?

Though he was jealous of her close relationship with Isley, when he thought that they were siblings, he convinced himself to come down, and there was no reason to get jealous of Isley. What made him angry was that Ivanna had only glanced at her twice, when she had just walked into the room and was looking around the room to see the people present, and when she had mentioned his discovering her identity. He wondered whether he wasn’t handsome at all to get any reaction from her.

What he didn’t know was that Ivanna was nervous when she glanced at him. Every time her gaze fell on him, she would only remember her family's discussion. She was nervous facing the man with whom she would spend the rest of her life. In the past, she only had a competitive attitude and disdain when she faced him. Now, she wished that she would not stay in the same room as her, as she wasn't calm at all. That's why she avoided glancing at him.

Just as the atmosphere was calm and the youngsters were talking and laughing, Liam and the other walked in looking frustrated, angry, and nervous.

When Kyrell saw their faces, he frowned as he had learnt a few things about them.

“What’s wrong?” he asked them.

“The Bakers are here. Mrs Bakers is causing a commotion outside,” Hazel said angrily.
