Chapter 272
Chapter 272
“Dad, where are you?” Fiona texted with trembling hands as she glanced at the door nervously, as she was afraid that someone might walk in and see her using her phone.
She had been thrown into a room, and it was locked. However, it seemed that both Tyson and Dylan forgot to take the handbag that she had.
Though she was nervous, she felt relieved knowing that her parents would soon be arriving in the capital. When she had seen Ivanna, she had texted her mother telling her that there were a lot of big businessmen and women present who were even talking about collaborations. She had not told them Ivanna’s real identity, as she had other plans. Who knew that she won’t be able to succeed in it? Instead, it had angered the Barnes.
She felt that with her parents present, she would have a backbone when saving them. After all, Ivanna and her family had to give respect to the people who had brought her up. She initially wanted to get close to them when Ivanna wasn’t present to make them treat her as their daughter. She had already thought of the bright future. Either way, if the Barnes helped her father in business, as she had heard that they were going through some crisis, won’t they overcome them and even rise to the top?
Maybe even when she did her college entrance exams, she and her family would come to the capital. With the Barnes support, would the families in the capital dare look down on them as they had looked down on her previously? She just hoped that her parents would arrive soon, before she was taken back to that room, as she had a feeling that if that happened, they would lose so much.
When Ivanna had heard that Fiona had been locked in a room, her eyes initially lit up, thinking of what Fiona had asked the maids to throw in that room. However, when she recalled everything Fiona had gone through previously when she had been caught by her brother, she believed that maybe the latter didn’t fear those small animals like her after living with them for so long. She felt it was a pity.
Nonetheless, unlike the rest who didn’t believe that Fiona could cause any chaos, she understood the latter too well to know that she must have asked her parents to come to the capital immediately.
“You know my sister’s identity, so you'd better shut your mouth if you want to keep your life,” Isley said coldly, looking at Nadia as if she would kill her the next minute, making the Martinez brothers freeze, and the hope that had been shining in their eyes dimmed. How could they have thought that the girls would get along?
Both Floyd and Kyrell sneered when they saw their actions. Floyd knew how stubborn Ivanna was not to accept Nadia as her sister, while Kyrell knew the twins well. Ivanna might soften and accept Nadia as her sister after seeing that she had changed and repented, but Isley would never. She would always be on guard, afraid that Nadia was using her sister to get something.
Nadia trembled, wondering how she had even forgotten how terrifying the latter was. She wondered why the twins were completely different from each other. One was cold and could kill anyone at any time, while the other was so soft and kind that she couldn’t kill even an ant. However, she was jealous when she saw how the two had a good relationship and understood that Isley was just protecting her twin sister.
“How can I go around saying such a thing. Don’t forget that I am my mother’s adopted daughter. You and Ivanna are her biological daughters, meaning that we are sisters. How can I continue talking about our family affairs?” Nadia said, stubbornly making Isley speechless while Ivanna smiled.
“So you have learnt to become thick-skinned, huh? Do you believe me that I will stab you right now?” Isley said as she gritted her teeth, as she was so angry.
“I believe you,” Nadia said as she nodded her head. “But I am not afraid,” Nadia added, refusing to back down. Also, she wanted the two to accept her as their other sister. So what if they became triplets? Won’t it be wonderful?
However, inwardly, she was really afraid of Isley, and that was why she kept trying to make her accept her. That way, how could the latter have the guts to harm her own sister? At this time, she didn’t know how wrong she had been. Isley had grown up in the mafia, so how could you expect her to have feelings after acknowledging her as her sister?
The latter didn’t even mind stabbing her father in a fight, and the man also didn’t hesitate to punch her till it took her a month to recover. She was only soft to Ivanna, and that was because they were twins and always felt connected to each other. If Ivanna were hurt, she would also undergo the same pain.
Nadia held Ivanna’s hand and looked at her with innocent eyes. She opened her mouth to say something, but Isley had already reached out to her and dragged her away from Ivanna.
“She is my sister. My TWIN SISTER. Not yours!” Isley said coldly to her, making Nadia dumbfounded. However, after a second, she came back to her senses and hugged Isley.
“Aren’t you also my sister? I know that you were just jealous of Ivanna cause I was hugging her and not you. I have hugged you now, can you stop being so jealous?” Nadia said, making everyone glance at each other as they had never seen that side of hers.
However, the Martinez brothers had once seen that side, which was before Nadia changed. They looked at the scene in front of their eyes with red eyes, tears threatening to fall. However, they inwardly thought whether Nadia had really changed, as she had been advised by Ivanna, or whether there was something she was scheming.
“Get your hands off me this instant before I cut them off,” Isley said coldly as she felt uncomfortable with the other party’s hug. She wasn’t used to being physical with people.
“No,” Nadia said as she pouted and shook her head. She could feel the murderous aura coming from Isley; she was so afraid, but she convinced herself that she had to go on till she softened Isley’s heart towards her. She didn’t know where the courage was coming from.
Isley had gotten tired of it, and just as she was about to take her dagger out, she saw Ivanna’s smile as she looked at the two of them and froze. Yes, she had seen her sister smile countless times, but the smile on her face was full of happiness and relief. This only made Isley confused. She started wondering whether her sister wanted them to accept Nadia as their sister, and that was why she was behaving like that.
“Why are you smiling like a fool?” she asked her in a confused tone, making everyone glance at her and follow her gaze.
Ivanna looked at her sister, whose face was full of displeasure, and knew that after this, she was likely going to scrub herself for more than an hour when they got back cause of the hug. Just the thought of it made Ivanna start laughing loudly, making everyone confused.
Nadia stopped hugging Isley and stood at the side watching Ivanna laughing with a doting smile on her face. She didn’t know why, but she just felt comfortable and at peace with Ivanna. She even wanted to dote on her for life. If it weren’t for Ivanna, would she have realized her mistakes?
No one else in the room had welcomed her or even spoken to her well other for the latter. She was so soft and calm despite knowing what she had done was wrong. She didn’t judge her; instead, she told her that she understood why she was doing that, she corrected her, and gave her a chance to make everything right. Where could she get such a friend or a person in her life? If the other wealthy young ladies in the capital had been present, won’t they have helped slandering her and laughed at the side?
Also, the fact that Ivanna had gone through the same identity as her, knowing how someone felt being a fake heiress, made her feel more connected to Ivanna than to Isley. She just knew that she had to get along with Isley if she wanted to be beside Ivanna. After all, the lady had an overprotective sister who won’t let anyone get close to her sister, didn’t that mean that she had to win over Isley before going to Ivanna, who was softhearted?
When she thought of all that, she recalled that she had not yet been forgiven by her brothers, and her moods damped. Still, she turned to them nervously.
“I am sorry for everything I did. Can you forgive me?” she asked as she tried to keep her composure.
