Chapter 794 Her True Purpose
Chapter 794 Her True Purpose
"You think I'm just gonna walk out of here like that? No way!"
Simon shot back. He absolutely refused to swallow this humiliation.
Emily let out a cold laugh.
She was ready to throw down.
Ace caught the bar manager's eye, signaling him to be prepared to step in and protect Emily at any moment.
The tension between both sides was at a breaking point.
The onlookers who'd been hanging around sensed danger and quickly cleared out of the bar.
In moments, only a handful of spectators remained, along with the two opposing groups ready to explode into a full-blown brawl.
On the other end of the surveillance feed, Daniel watched it all unfold.
Even though he knew Emily could handle herself, he couldn't stand the thought of her getting hurt—not even a scratch.
He fired off a message to Ace: [Keep her safe. If she gets so much as a bruise, you'll answer to me.]
Ace felt a chill run down his spine the moment he read it.
A cold sweat broke out across his back.
The threat might've sounded mild on the surface.
But anyone who really knew Daniel understood—when he punished someone, he didn't hold back.
Ace typed back immediately: [Don't worry. I'll take the hit before I let Emily get hurt.]
After sending the message, he stepped forward.
He was determined to shield Emily at all times.
Sure, they had plenty of people on their side, but what if something went wrong? What if the security wasn't as committed as they should be and Emily got injured? Daniel's wrath would be more than he could handle.
"What's going on here? What is all this?"
A woman's voice suddenly cut through the tension like a knife.
The voice was unfamiliar.
But the tone rang a bell.
Emily found it familiar, though she couldn't quite place where she'd heard it before.
She looked up toward the source of the voice.
Simon turned toward the newcomer as well, his expression softening slightly.
Emily raised an eyebrow. Simon knew her.
Was she here to back him up?
Raina had just heard about the scene at the bar from someone she'd recently met in their social circle.
They weren't close, so the details had been vague.
But Raina had caught one very familiar name: Emily.
She had a hunch Simon might be in over his head.
Emily wasn't simple. She was sharp, clever.
If Emily was bold enough to make a bet with Simon under these circumstances, she had to have some kind of leverage. Which meant the outcome probably wouldn't be in Simon's favor.
So Raina showed up. If Simon was fine, she'd play it off as coming to celebrate with him and strengthen their connection.
If Simon was in trouble, maybe she could help—and use that to pull him closer to her side.
"Who are you?"
Kaia hadn't left yet. Seeing this unfamiliar face, she asked with obvious suspicion.
Her gut told her she didn't like this person.
Plus, this woman had just waltzed in acting like she was in charge. Talk about full of herself.
Raina stepped between Emily and Simon, temporarily easing the tension in the air.
Only then did she speak. "Emily, I'm a daughter of the Mitchell family. Just like you."
Just like her?
What did that mean?
Emily thought it over.
She was adopted by her parents.
So that meant this woman was too.
Raina turned to Emily first. "Emily, they say business is war, but that's exactly why sometimes your enemies can become your allies. Would you rather make another enemy or gain an ally? Even if you make Simon strip down and humiliate himself, sure, maybe you'll feel a little better for a moment—but what do you actually gain from it? Wouldn't it be smarter to use this opportunity to get something more valuable?"
She was putting on her best 'savvy businesswoman' act.
At least, that's what Raina thought she was doing.
After giving Emily her pitch, she turned to Simon.
She seemed intent on playing peacemaker.
Raina said to Simon, "Simon, you two were business partners before. Now you just have a disagreement. For someone like you, reputation is everything. Why not give up a few material things to save face? You can always earn them back later. After all, those are just external things. Don't you think?"
The moment Simon saw Raina appear, the anger he'd felt toward Emily seemed to shift. His entire aura turned icy cold.
He didn't say a word. He just stared at Raina, waiting to see if she could say anything that would satisfy him.
Still, once she finished speaking, he actually found himself considering it.
Because… what she said kind of made sense.
But the idea of backing down to Emily? That stung his pride.
Then again, compared to stripping down and doing a naked run, this was way less humiliating.
Simon cleared his throat. "I can renew the contract. I'll even throw in a partnership on another production line. But the naked run? Forget it. And I'm only offering you this because of Ms. Mitchell. Don't push your luck."
Raina's heart leapt when she heard him take her advice.
At least it meant her words carried weight.
If word of this got back to her father, he'd see she had real capability. He might even start relying on her more.
Raina quickly turned back to Emily.
"Emily, wouldn't that be a better deal?"
"Wrong."
Emily's voice cut through sharply.
"What?"
Raina looked genuinely confused.
Simon didn't know what Emily was about to say, but he had a bad feeling. This woman was definitely about to go against him again.
"Hey, Emily, you're such a woman—soft-hearted and short-sighted. You can't even seize an opportunity when it's handed to you. You'd better think carefully before you open your mouth."
Simon still had that superior, condescending tone.
Raina wanted nothing more than to shove a sock in Simon's mouth to shut him up.
Emily ignored Simon completely. Instead, she looked at Raina. "I said you're wrong. Who says I get nothing out of making him streak? I get plenty."
"Emily, you—"
"Simon, can you please stop riling Emily up? Just let her finish." Raina lost control of her emotions for a moment and actually snapped at Simon.
Simon clearly hadn't expected Raina to yell at him. He froze on the spot.
Raina regretted it the second the words left her mouth.
But now wasn't the time to apologize to Simon.
She turned back to Emily. "Emily, I don't understand. What benefit could you possibly get from this? Just the satisfaction? That doesn't sound like something a real businessperson would do."
Emily gave a carefree laugh. "I never said I was a successful businessperson. Money can't buy happiness, and this makes me happy. But that's just the first reason. The second? I'm using Simon to make a statement. Didn't you notice?
Besides, I never planned to renew the contract in the first place."
"You've got to be kidding. You came here today to see Simon about renewing, didn't you?"
Raina was sure Emily had to be lying.
Simon laughed mockingly from the side. "You don't want to renew? Or were you just trying to get my attention? Well, congrats—you've definitely made an impression."
Emily scoffed. "No. I came here today specifically to stir up a scene. As for getting your attention? You? You're not worth it."
She turned to the manager. "Manager, I'm going to need you to keep his bodyguards busy today. I'll owe you big time. As for him—I'm making sure he streaks out of here in disgrace today."
In other words, the manager and his security team would handle everyone else. Emily would deal with Simon herself.
She was bold, that was for sure.
But when Ace heard that, his face went pale.
This was Emily.
Making Emily strip another man's pants off? Making her watch another man streak? And Daniel was watching all of this through the surveillance feed? If Ace actually let Emily go through with this, he wouldn't live to see tomorrow.
