Chapter 795: Something Dirty? She Really Isn’t Interested
"Emily, how could I let you dirty your eyes with something like this? Let me do it, let me!"
Ace clasped his hands together in a little bow toward the security camera.
Then, before Emily could make a move, he jumped in front of her and blurted out those words.
Emily wanted to say she just wouldn't look.
Besides, she'd treated patients before—she'd seen men's bodies plenty of times.
But Ace was genuinely worried about her seeing something she shouldn't. He didn't even wait for Emily to refuse. He charged forward and made his move before Simon could even react.
This security team was way more skilled than Emily had expected.
They didn't seem like your average hired guards. These guys looked like they'd been through some serious training.
Emily couldn't help but grow curious about the owner behind this bar.
Meanwhile, behind the monitor, Daniel gazed at Emily with indulgent, helpless affection.
He reached out, stroking her face through the screen with a touch of longing.
"I really don't know what to do with you. You just got back to Emerald City and you're already stirring up this much trouble. Looks like I'll have to keep an eye on you myself to feel at ease."
It wasn't that he was afraid she'd cause problems.
He was afraid he wouldn't be there to protect her when she did.
Ace and the security team worked together, and soon Simon got exactly what he deserved.
Seeing she couldn't stop it, Raina quickly found a chance to escape.
Emily didn't bother with her.
To keep Emily from seeing Simon stripped, they pinned him facedown on the floor but hadn't started pulling his pants off yet.
Ace just said to Emily, "Emily, you should leave now. Once you're gone, I'll strip his pants off and film it for you, but I'll probably blur it out. Hope you understand."
Emily could tell he really didn't want her to see.
She had zero interest in Simon's scrawny body anyway. If she didn't watch, so be it.
"Whatever. I wasn't interested in the first place. Thanks for today. Let's exchange contacts—I'll treat you guys to dinner sometime to say thank you."
Emily was perceptive. She could tell this guy knew the bar manager. Whether he was the actual owner behind the bar, though, she couldn't be sure.
Ace couldn't wait to exchange contact info with Emily. He happily pulled out his phone. "Then I'll be waiting for that meal."
He didn't bother being polite about it.
Emily quickly added him.
Then she called Kaia over and they left.
Simon lay there on the floor, humiliated. Seeing Emily about to leave, he couldn't help but scream after her, "Emily, you bitch! You think you can do this to me? I'll make you wish you were dead!"
Emily stopped in her tracks.
Not because Simon's insults scared her.
But because she remembered something she wanted to say. "From now on, no one will work with the Long family anymore. And I'm going to spread the word that I have new, better materials that can replace yours. Anyone who wants those materials, anyone who wants to work with the Day Group, come find me at the Day Group tomorrow."
"You're lying. There's no way you could—"
Simon was convinced Emily was just making things up to mess with him.
Emily wasn't joking around with Simon.
She said what she needed to say and ignored him, walking out while speaking to Kaia.
"You can help spread the word too. Let everyone know where I stand."
Either way, what happened today wouldn't stay hidden. Everyone in their circle would find out.
And when people asked follow-up questions, they'd hear about what she'd just announced.
Emily wanted people who could read the room, who truly believed in the Day Group.
At the very least, it would mean future partnerships would come easier.
Otto found out later that Emily had gone to meet Simon.
But what he hadn't expected was that she'd met him at a bar.
Otto immediately understood—Simon had deliberately chosen that place to humiliate her.
Otto sat at home, restless.
Lika tried to calm him down. "Don't worry. Emily's not someone who gets pushed around easily. And if she really needed help, she'd call us."
"I know, but I can't help worrying. I'm furious. Simon has the nerve to humiliate my daughter. I won't let him get away with it."
Otto seemed reassured, but he kept checking for updates on the bar situation.
Then he suddenly saw posts about what happened next.
He shot to his feet in shock and hurriedly asked Lika to get him a change of clothes. "I'm going to the bar right now to bring Emily back safely. Get me my coat."
"Okay, I'll get it. Don't panic. Emily's not stupid—she wouldn't agree to some reckless bet."
Lika kept telling him not to worry, but her hands never stopped moving as she fetched the coat.
Otto kept reading the updates.
Then he saw that Emily had won round after round.
By the time Lika came back with the coat, Otto was sitting calmly in his chair.
"Hurry up and change. Weren't you going to find Emily?"
Lika urged him on instead.
Otto just laughed. "I got worked up over nothing. How could I have worried so much about Emily? You were right—she's so capable, there's no way Simon could outsmart her. I should've known. She's the one who brought me back from Zephyria alive. And she knows medicine—there's no way she'd get drugged or tricked."
He was reassuring Lika, but also himself.
To make it more convincing, he even showed her the group chat messages.
Lika looked them over and let out a sigh of relief. She couldn't help but say, "See? I told you she was fine. You were the one panicking."
Otto chuckled. "I seem to remember someone rushing over with a coat telling me to leave. You were worried too."
They teased each other, and the mood lightened.
Still, when Emily finally came home, the moment Otto heard the sound, he rushed downstairs.
Lika pulled me into a hug right away, asking with concern, "Emily, you're finally back. Are you okay? Come here, let me see—are you hurt anywhere?"
Emily felt a warm current flow through her heart.
How long had it been since she'd felt this kind of care?
It turned out that sometimes, family didn't require blood.
Sometimes, family just needed fate.
Emily hugged Lika back. "Mom, I'm fine. Really."
Only then did Lika relax and let go.
Otto's feelings were more reserved, but his eyes never left me, filled with deep concern.
"Good, as long as you're okay. Are you hungry? I'll have the staff heat up your dinner. Eat something, then come to my study."
Otto smiled as he spoke.
"Okay!"
The family had saved dinner especially for Emily. Her heart softened even more, easily moved.
She'd been moved so many times today already.
Emily quickly finished her meal, then headed to the study.
She knocked on the door. Otto had been waiting for her, so the moment he heard the sound, he opened it right away.
"Dad."
"Come in."
Otto nodded. Emily followed him into the study.
