Chapter 6 Chapter 6///
In Rael’s Room
Rael woke early, sensing a strange presence in the room. He opened his eyes and saw Cedric, the rival pack’s alpha, sitting in a chair in the corner of the room, his expression grave. Cedric was dressed in dark clothes and had a steady gaze, as if he knew something crucial that Rael needed to hear.
— Finally awake — Cedric began, his voice deep and serious. — I know the vampires are after you. They are not creatures to be underestimated. They are dangerous, and you need to control yourself so as not to put your life at risk.
Rael sat up in bed, still dazed, but his expression was one of determination.
— I’m not afraid of vampires — Rael replied, the confidence in his voice evident. — If they want to observe me, let them come. I’m not just a target.
Cedric studied Rael for a moment, then stood up.
— Very well, just don’t say I didn’t warn you. It’s best to prepare for anything that might happen.
Forest Training
After Cedric left, Rael prepared for a day of training. He dressed lightly and headed into the forest, a spot that had already become his favorite training ground. The forest was silent and shadowy, with the sound of leaves and twigs crackling beneath his feet.
Rael focused on honing his instincts and skills. He moved quickly among the trees, practicing his reflexes and combat techniques. The forest, with its shadows and mysteries, was the perfect place for this training.
The Presence of a Vampire
During his training, Rael noticed a familiar scent in the air. It was the same scent of the vampire he had smelled earlier — and also of Selene. Accustomed to being followed, he decided to ignore the presence and continue. However, his instincts told him the vampire was watching closely.
As the presence became more palpable, Gabriel emerged from the trees. His gaze was defiant and filled with superiority. He advanced slowly, trying to intimidate Rael.
— So, we have a lone wolf who isn’t afraid of vampires, huh? — Gabriel said dismissively. — Let’s see how you handle this.
The Confrontation
Gabriel advanced with the unnatural speed of a vampire, but Rael was prepared. In the blink of an eye, he partially transformed, assuming a hybrid form of wolf and man Gabriel had never seen before. His sharp claws gleamed in the light filtering through the trees.
Surprised, Gabriel tried to attack, but Rael was faster. He dodged with impressive agility and, in one precise movement, slashed Gabriel’s face with his claws. The red marks became visible, and the vampire retreated, stunned and furious.
Realizing that Rael was no easy opponent, Gabriel decided to retreat. His expression was a mixture of anger and astonishment at the wolf’s unexpected strength.
— This isn’t over — Gabriel growled before disappearing into the darkness of the forest.
Rael, alone again, took a deep breath and resumed training. The confrontation demonstrated the level of tension and danger he faced, but also revealed that he was ready for any challenge.
Gabriel at Home
Gabriel returned to the mansion, the wounds on his face still bleeding and painful. He was furious, not only at the unexpected confrontation, but also at the fact that his wounds were healing more slowly than usual. Rael’s hybrid form had left him uneasy, unsure of the new wolf’s true nature.
He went to his office and, with a frustrated expression, treated his wounds with antiseptic, improvising a bandage. The silence in the mansion weighed heavily on him, amplifying his irritation.
Clan Meeting
Later, Gabriel called an emergency meeting of the entire clan. Footsteps and murmurs echoed through the halls as members arrived. Among them were Gregor, the stern leader of the council of elders, and Marcus, in charge of security.
When everyone was gathered in the conference room, Gabriel spoke seriously.
— The new wolf in town isn’t like the others — he began, showing the wounds on his face. — I confronted him in the forest today. He transformed in a way I’ve never seen before — fast and brutal. He has abilities beyond the ordinary.
Gregor, with an unperturbed expression, asked:
— And what do you suggest, Gabriel? Should the clan act immediately?
Gabriel shook his head in frustration.
— Not yet. We must be cautious. We need to understand what we’re facing before we act. A hasty action could put us at a disadvantage.
Marcus, attentive to security issues, asked:
— What do we know about the origins of this wolf? Any clues as to why it’s so different?
Gabriel hesitated before answering.
— Not much. Just what I observed. But we need to investigate further. Discover its origins, ties to other packs or clans, and understand how it acquired these abilities.
Gregor nodded, satisfied with the proposal.
— I agree. Let’s proceed that way. While we investigate, let’s avoid unnecessary conflict. Keep the clan informed.
The meeting ended amid a tense resolution. Gabriel, still angry, knew he needed answers about Rael before acting. The wolf’s nature and its influence on Ravenshade remained a mystery, and the clan needed to be prepared for any eventuality.
