Selene's pov.

"Trust me Selene, you and your mom are going to love the place, Ethan can testify." Alfred's voice was pitched with excitement as he drove out of the mansion.

No drivers or maids accompanied us. There could be some workers that keep the place intact for them. Besides, he is a billionaire.

Ethan and I sat at the back in awkward silence in the Jeep.

Mom sat in front with Alfred, I brought out my phone to keep myself busy.

"On my way to the beach house with the rest of the family, will text you when we get there." I sent the message to Vale.

I would have given him a phone call, but I don't want to, not when everyone was would listen

I received a message back from Vale.

"Okay love, have fun and send pictures."

I smiled as I placed the phone on my chest.

The drive took longer than I expected, Ethan kept his face glued to the window all through the journey.

My legs were getting cramped for sitting too long, I needed to flex them.

"How much further?" I asked Alfred.

"Sorry dear, it'll take another hour before we get there." Alfred looked at me through the rearview mirror.

Shit, he's been driving for about two hours now and it feels like the entire day.

"Have this." Ethan handed me a chocolate bar.

I collected it with gratitude, I thought we weren't on speaking terms, which I started by the way.

I gave a little smile.

"Thank you."

Vale sent another message, asking if we were there yet.

I told him that we haven't and promised to keep him updated.

We finally arrived at the beach house and it was breathtaking.

The driveway was decorated on both sides with natural beautiful flowers.

The house was painted white and I can only imagine what the inside would look like.

We stepped out of the car, while Ethan and Alfred removed the bags from the car and mom was busy admiring the garden.

I took out my phone to call Vale.

There was no signal so I moved around to try and get some.

"I forgot to tell you earlier, there's no connection in and around the beach house. We will be without the internet for three days." Alfred exclaimed excitedly.

"What?"

Three days, nobody told me it would be like this, I wouldn't have agreed to it.

How am I supposed to stay three days without contacting Vale?

Ethan lifted two bags at once. a smirk on his face.

"Sucks to be you." He grinned.

He knew about this, I'm sure he must be swimming in laughter deep down at my misfortune.

I took the bag that mom brought for Mr inside the house, it was cozy and a little bit cold.

Alfred motioned to the stairs

"Ethan would show you to your room."

I followed Ethan behind, and climbed up the stairs.

There were like four rooms upstairs.

He opened one for me and I entered inside, it was painted blue and white in the most beautiful flower patterns I have ever seen.

I ran my fingers along the paint design.

From the window, I had a direct view of the beach. The sound of the crashing waves was loud and calm.

"My mom designed this house." Ethan spoke from the doorway.

"Wow, she must be really good."

"She's the best architect I know."

He slapped the door frame.

"I'll leave you to settle in."

"Ethan, wait." I stopped him.

If we are going to be in this house for three days, especially with no internet connection. I can't pretend like I don't sense his presence.

It'll be really hard on me.

He didn't move further, but he didn't say anything as well.

"Aren't we going to talk about last night?"

He made a clueless face.

"There's nothing to talk about."

"Come on, we can't keep on acting stiff with each other."

"I never acted differently towards you, so I don't know what you are talking about."

I pressed my knuckles together, he doesn't want to make it easy on either of us.

"Don't you want to settle things?" I asked him.

He rested one hand on the door frame and gave me a pointed look.

"If you are expecting an apology for what happened last night, you aren't getting one from me."

I was taken back by that.

"Then, why were you outside my door last night?"

He scratched his head so that his hair became tousled.

"I came to your room so I can be with you for the night, nothing more."

I pressed my fingers to my skull for a minute.

"Ethan, I know you were pissed with what Vale did last night, it triggered you, that's why you kissed me like that, to get back at him."

He closed the door and stepped in, his eyes blazed.

"Do you think I kissed you because of that punk? I kissed you because I wanted to. I couldn't stand it when you kissed him on the cheek. You're mine Selene, and as much as you want me to keep our affair a secret. You've got to stop being intimate with any other guy in front of me. Especially Vale."

I could feel every emotion in his voice as he said those words.

He was my secret and Vale was the guy I could acknowledge in public.

The two of them have to be apart from each other.

I shook my head sadly, tears almost at the brim of my eyes.

"I'm sorry, I can't."

I thought he'd give up after that, it would break me as I also care deeply for him

"That makes two of us. I'm not giving up on what you feel for me.

Push me away as much as you want to, I am not going anywhere. You and I are going to be together Selene, and it is not going to be forced, you will love me more than how you love him."
