Chapter 36 Abort The Baby
Chapter 36 Abort The Baby
I look at Neil in shock. Disbelief and trauma freeze on my face at the same time. My heart pounds violently against my chest. My voice trembles on its own as I speak, “Neil… are you in your senses? Do you even understand what you’re saying?”
He stands there completely calm, as if saying all this means nothing to him. Looking straight into my eyes, he answers in a cold, steady voice, “I am fully conscious. And I’m saying this after thinking it through. I don’t want this child. Ria is enough for me. So get it aborted.”
His words travel from my ears straight into my heart like a brutal attack. For a moment, my breathing stops. It feels as if the ground beneath my feet is slipping away. My eyes widen in disbelief. I never imagine he could say something so heartless, so cruel, so easily.
My face slowly turns red with rage. Something breaks inside me. Without thinking, I place my hand on his chest and shove him away with all my strength.
“Who do you think you are?” I scream in anger.
“Do you really think I’ll do whatever you say? Who gave you the right to interfere in my life?”
My breathing grows rapid. I take deep breaths, trying to steady myself, but instead of calming down, my anger keeps rising. Seeing my condition, a flicker of concern appears on Neil’s face. He takes a step toward me, softening his voice.
“Calm down,” he says.
“Sit down. Getting angry in this condition isn’t good for you.”
The moment he says that, my anger explodes even more. I push him again.
“Stay away from me!” I shout.
“Don’t touch me!”
He stares at me in shock, as if he cannot understand why I am reacting this way. I don’t stay there for even a second longer. Carrying my anger and pain, I turn around and walk away immediately. My steps take me out of the hospital. Tears fill my eyes, but I refuse to let them fall.
I walk straight toward the taxi stand and stop there. My heart keeps repeating only one thing, I need to leave this place. Right now.
Within moments, Neil comes outside as well. His eyes fall on me. Anger flashes across his face as he walks toward me. Before I can say anything, he reaches me. Without a word, he bends down and lifts me into his arms.
“What kind of behavior is this?” I snap angrily.
“Are you stupid?”
He doesn’t reply. His face turns hard and unreadable. He carries me straight to his car and places me on the back seat. I shout at him in anger, “Neil, let me go. I’ll leave on my own.”
But he doesn’t listen to a single word. He sits in the front seat and starts driving. The car moves forward in complete silence. A storm rages inside my heart, but inside the car, there is only suffocating quiet.
After a while, the car stops in front of the villa. He unlocks the doors. I step out and walk straight toward the entrance. Neil comes closer, but I push him away once again and walk inside the villa without looking back.
The moment I step inside the villa, the silence of the living room makes me pause. In front of me, little Ria sits on the carpet, picking up her toys with her tiny fingers.
Her soft laughter echoes through the room. Mrs. Grace sits beside her, talking to her gently while playing along. They both look so innocent and peaceful that the weight on my heart grows heavier.
Mrs. Grace notices me and smiles warmly, “Kiara… you’re back?”
The sound of her voice breaks the last bit of control I have. I don’t think for even a second. I walk straight to her and suddenly wrap my arms around her, hugging her tightly.
The tears I have been holding back since the hospital burst out all at once. I rest my head on her shoulder and cry like a helpless child.
She panics instantly. Stroking my hair, she asks in a worried voice, “What happened, sweetheart? Did someone say something to you? Did something happen?”
Then, after a brief pause, she asks softly, “Did Neil say something to you?”
I keep crying, unable to stop. The words feel stuck in my throat. Even breathing feels difficult. Just then, Neil walks in from behind. Hearing his footsteps, Mrs. Grace immediately turns toward him.
“Neil,” she asks with a mix of anger and concern, “what is going on? Did you say something to Kiara? Why is this child crying so much?”
Neil doesn’t stop. He doesn’t even turn around. He keeps walking toward his room, speaking carelessly over his shoulder, “She’s gotten used to taking everything I say the wrong way. That’s why I don’t want to say anything anymore.”
His words pierce my heart even deeper. Suddenly, my tears stop and anger rises inside me. I pull away from Mrs. Grace and look at her, my voice heavy as I say, “Mom… I’m pregnant.”
She freezes in shock. For a second, she just stares at me. Then happiness slowly spreads across her face.
“Oh!” she says immediately, “That’s such wonderful news. Then why are you crying, my child?”
Tears fill my eyes again. In a soft, broken voice, I reply, “But Neil doesn’t want this child. He wants me to get an abortion.”
Her expression changes instantly. She looks at me in disbelief, as if she cannot accept what she’s hearing.
“No, beta,” she says firmly, “you must be mistaken. Neil cannot do something like this.”
I shake my head slowly, “No, Mom… this is the truth.”
She takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself. Holding my hands in hers, she speaks gently, “Alright. You go freshen up first. Then we’ll talk at the dining table. Don’t worry. My son will not do anything like that. I’m here… with you.”
There is so much love and reassurance in her words that my heart steadies a little. I nod silently. Wiping my tears away, I walk quietly toward my room, holding on to just one hope… that someone will finally understand me.
I walk into the room and see Neil putting on his shirt. He has just come out after taking a shower. I stand there, staring at him without blinking. He notices me but ignores me and turns back to the mirror, getting busy with himself again. Only I know how much his cold behavior is hurting me. I say softly, “So… are you done with me now?”
TO BE COUNTINUE...!!!
Has Neil really changed?
