He shook his head, “It’s over now, there’s no need to apologize. I’ve learnt my lessons and I will move on with them. Let’s get out of here after we are well rested and when we get back to town let’s not speak to each other again.”

Carina could feel her heart divide in two, she had filed for a divorce but Harry had ended things and for some reason, it hurt so badly. She bawled her eyes out while Harry sat quietly on the couch thinking of how hard he had also cried for days when he first heard that Carina had filed for a divorce. It brought him to that time but he didn’t want to cry again so he got off the couch and started to dress up, 

“Let’s prepare to get out of here before another person budges in here to finish us off,” he said, lacing his boots. “It’s snowing heavily outside, I will need to get help, we can’t stay here just like that.”

“I’m fine, we can leave together.” She replied.

“No, I need to go out there and find help, get dressed,” he instructed. He was about to step out when a thought crossed his mind to check the cabin and see if he would find a phone or anything to make calls since his phone was taken from him by Sara’s henchmen.

He searched through the cabin and found an old cellphone, he turned it on and it was still working so he placed an emergency call to the police and they responded quickly,

“We are in the cabin up in the mountains, I will leave this phone on so you can trace the call but I will also assist you with the directions too,” he said.
Carina lay helplessly on the couch praying that the police wouldn’t come so she would be stuck with Harry forever. If wishes were horses. 

“I never planned to sue Sara, I wanted to just take my money from all of them. But after this, I can’t let it slide anymore. I will be taking her on and I need your support, so let me know if you are in or out.” he said as they were waiting for the police to come and get them.

Carina looked at him as he leaned against the wall in the corner of the cabin, she only nodded and rubbed her bloodshot eyes with the back of her hand. 

“Why did you come?” she asked in a groggy voice.
“Huh?” Harry asked.

“Why did you come to my rescue if you don’t want me?” she asked again.
Harry sighed, “I don’t want you to die, I care about you. In my mind, you are still my responsibility.”

His words were breaking Carina and she was whimpering and crying to herself but Harry refused to comfort her, maybe he was still angry, he wanted her to feel how he felt when she left and refused to comfort her.

“Is that all?” she asked 

“What do you want me to say?” Harry replied
“I want you to say that you love me.” she cried,

“Even if I do, we are not getting back.” he firmly replied which made Carina bawl her eyes out. The siren from the police vans outside didn’t even stop her from drowning in her tears. Harry stepped out first to meet them but Carina sat inside crying till the police came inside for her.

She had several wounds on her body but none of them hurt her like Harry’s words to her that day. They didn’t say a word to each other as they were given a police escort back to New York. Harry’s car had been towed so he sat next to Carina quietly as they were transported back to their city.

They were both taken to the police station and sat next to each other and made to write their report on what happened. Occasionally Hary would steal glances at Carina but they didn’t say a word to each other. After their report, Carina was escorted by the police to the hospital to treat her bruises and to also get a report from the doctors.

She thought Harry would keep her company but he left without saying goodbye. Carina was in the ward getting her wounds dressed when her mother and sister rushed in and hugged her tightly.

“Oh dear, we thought we lost you.” her mother cried when they disengaged from the hug.
“What happened?” Claudia cried. “It’s been three days. I thought I would die.” 

“Me too.” Carina replied, “But then Harry broke in and saved me. I mean he almost died with me but he saved me in the end.” 
“Harry?” her mother echoed.

Carina nodded, and the three of them went silent after that. Nobody knew what to say after that knowing that the couple were estranged, it was Carina that broke the silence.
“Mom, why didn’t you tell me that you told Harry about the pregnancy?” Carina suddenly questioned her mother,

Beth didn’t know what to say at that moment, she kept fumbling till Carina nodded, “It’s fine, you don’t have to answer if you don’t have answers. Harry is a closed chapter now but at least I learned something.”

Claudia was devastated by her words but tried to act strong, “Let’s talk about what happened, who was behind it? Was it Sara or Nancy?”

“Sara of course, Nancy could never succeed at kidnapping me,” Carina bragged.
“What did she want?” Claudia exclaimed.

“Apparently, she found out about the documents I printed from her laptop and wanted them back. I wasn’t ready to tell her where they were, so I said they were with Harry, which is partly true because some documents were with Harry, but the rest were still with me. I am going to help Nathan and Harry file a lawsuit against her but it seems Sara had other plans for me and Harry.”

“What plans?” Beth asked eagerly,
“She wanted to get rid of us by burning us alive.”
Beth gasped, "What?"
