Chapter 49 FIFTY
EMILY’S POV
Emily watched wide-eyed as Roman jumped into action, her brain still trying to process while anyone would launch an attack on her pack.
“What is going on?” she asked Roman, who was currently standing at her bedroom window, peeking through the curtains as he looked outside.
“There have been threats from the Rogues these past days,” Alpha Castor has been trying to keep it under wraps, but I guess they attacked earlier than expected.
“Do you think it’s my uncle?” Emily asked Roman, changing into something more decent.
Before Roman could respond, a loud crash sounded downstairs. Someone had broken into their home, they both glanced at themselves. Roman hurried towards her bedroom door, locking it, before dragging her dressing table against it.
He opened up her window, looking down as he thought of his next action. Loud banging on her door, prompted Roman to take action.
“Do you trust me?” he asked Emily, who was clutching her stomach.
Frantically she nodded her head, jerking as loud growls could be heard from behind her door.
They didn’t have much time before those wolves broke in, so anything Roman had planned, he needed to do it now.
Emily gasped as Roman carried her bridal style, she clutched his neck tightly, burying her face in between his neck.
“Are you ready?” he asked her, slowly climbing over the window as her bedroom door rattled from the force ploughing on it.
Emily simply nodded her head, her heart beating wide.
Roman held her tighter, before jumping down the one story building. Luckily, they made the jump just fine, without wasting time, Roman ran towards the pack’s safe house with Emily in his hands.
Emily glanced around, some houses were on fire, while people were running around. It was uncanny how everything could be shattered in just a few moments.
“We are almost there,” Roman panted out, glancing down at her. Emily nodded, grateful.
From nowhere, two large wolves attacked them, throwing their large bodies on Roman. Emily screamed as the force they had attacked made Roman grip on her loosen. She screamed again as her stomach hit the floor hard, pain hot as lava flowing through her body.
Emily!!!!! Roman screamed, trying to fight the wolves to get to her.
Emily blinked her eyes rapidly, groaning as she clutched her stomach. Her babies were kicking painfully hard against her stomach, their kicks assuring her and also giving her the strength to drag her body from the floor.
She dodged just in time as another wolf jumped towards her. Emily glanced around wide eyed, screaming in her mind for Chaira. Now was the time she needed her wolf, she glanced towards where Roman was. He had changed into his wolf, and was fighting brutally with two other wolves.
Emily snapped her head towards the wolf in front of her, she whimpered as she moved back, the ugly wolf in front of her growling as he slowly came towards her.
Emily turned around, running as fast as she could while the wolf chased her. She panted as she ran, clutching her stomach as pain ran through her side rib.
Emily stumbled down, using her hands to block her stomach as she rolled down the sidewalk. Before the wolf could attack her, another grey colored wolf jumped in front of her. This wolf was thinner than the other, but it growled loudly, before attacking.
She quickly backed away, sighing in relief as a disheveled Roman ran towards her, ignoring the two wolves who were fighting.
“Are you ok?” he asked, his eyes roaming over her body, before resting on her stomach.
We need to go, another voice spoke out. Emily, too engrossed in Roman, didn't notice the other man standing close to him, she knew the face, he was one of the warriors Roman trained with.
Roman nodded his head, grabbing Emily’s hand. They all watched as the grey wolf tore into the neck of the other wolf, before howling at the moon.
The grey wolf walked towards them, before sassyly walking past. Emily didn’t have time to thank the wolf that had saved her, as they all ran towards the pack’s safe house.
By the time they got there, everywhere was filled up with children, women that could not fight, and the elderly. Emily’s eyes widened as the grey wolf turned, Sheila stood there in all her glory, before running towards Emily, hugging her tightly.
Emily had never seen Sheila’s wolf, so she didn’t know what she looked like.
“Thank you for saving me,” she told her, hugging her back.
“You would have done the same,” Sheila told her, stepping back from the hug. She noticed the slight wince Emily made, frowning before pressing her hands against Emily’s side.
Emily grunted from the pain, squeezing her eyebrows together.
“You are hurt,” she asked Emily, gently raising her top to reveal the nasty bruises at the side of her ribs.
“I fell,” Emily told her, walking with Sheila towards the small infirmary that had been set up inside the safe house.
Roman and all the other warriors were at the front of this war, he had left immediately he dropped her at the safe house. Emily knew it was his duty to fight and protect the pack, yet she still worried.
She smiled at Sheila, thanking her as she helped her sit on one of the beds. The infirmary was filled with children and some elderly who had been injured.
Emily winced as Sheila treated her wounds, her eyes glancing round the safe house, before landing on Kimberly.
Kimberly was laying on one of the beds, a nurse attending to her.
Stefan had gone back to his pack, Emily had expected Kimberly to follow him since they were married already, but for some reason, she didn’t and was still here.
“What’s wrong with her?” Emily asked Sheila, nodding her head in Kimberly's direction.
“Oh, nothing,” Sheila says, with an eye roll. “She says the fight and everything is stressful for the baby, and that she needs a nurse to watch over her.” As if that’s what is important right now. “We need the nurse to attend to others that badly need it, but that entitled bitch thinks the blood in her stomach needs it more.”
Emily glanced at Sheila, her eyebrows raised high. “Blood?” She asked her, one day, she would ask Sheila while she hated Kimberly so much.
Sheila just smiled, shaking her head. “I shouldn’t have said that,” she just makes me so angry. “This pack would be in ruins, if she ends up taking over.”
Emily didn’t say anything, her thoughts all over the place.
“Who do you think orchestrated this attack?” She asks Sheila.
“I don’t know, but I told you about the recent uprising among the Rogue, recently smaller packs have been attacked,” and Alpha Castor has received several threats. I believe the Rogues are behind this, “why now?” should be the better question.
Emily sat there stunned, she didn’t know what to think, but she hoped to God that her uncle wasn't behind these attacks.
Because if they were, Emily didn’t know what she would do.
