Chapter 36 CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN
ROMAN’S POV
“What?” you can’t be serious my dad roared, his deep voice thundering through the house.
My mum sat down on the couch, her hands over her mouth.
“Why were they acting like something terrible had happened?” Roman thought, he scoffs loudly, shaking his head, before walking away.
Roman paused, wide eyed as he stared at Emily and Bella hiding at the top of their stairway. “Damm! Had she had everything?”
As if reading his thoughts, Bella nodded her head, wide eyed. “Yes” she says, confirming his fear, “we heard everything, I mean everything.” She stood up, before walking back to her room.
Emily was still sitting on the stairway, her cheeks growing redder the more they stared at themselves. Hum, Roman cleared his throat, embarrassed.
“Are you ok?” she asked softly, pointing to his nose. You need ice, she pointed out.
“Look,” about what you heard, “can we talk about it later?”
“Sure,” she says, standing up. She stares at him for a while, before entering the room she shared with Bella.
Roman grip his hair in frustration, entering his own room.
He paced around his room restless, before deciding to sneak out. Roman tucked his hands into his hoodie, the cold air ruffling through his hair as he walked to Stefan’s house.
He knocked on Stefan’s window. “Hey man,” Stefan greeted, as he opened up his window. He grimaced at Romans swelling nose, leaving Roman to find his way inside while he walked out of his room.
He came back with a bag of ice, throwing it at Roman, before bringing out his hidden stash of alcohol.
“Yea,” he drank and occasionally smoked. He won’t say Stefan forced him into it, but everyone had been there at Stefan’s last birthday party. The persistent crowd had forced him to drink, a celebration of sweet sixteen,
Ever since then, Roman drank whenever he felt stressed.
“What happened?” Stefan asked, pointing at his nose.
“My dad,”that was enough for Stefan. He brought out his game box, setting it up while Roman chugged the vodka.
“Hey, slow down,” Stefan says, dragging the bottle of vodka from his hands, before taking a large gulp himself.
They played their game in silence, passing the bottle back and forth.
“You were with Emily right?” Stefan spoke suddenly. That's why you missed the tryout, you lied to me.
“Yes,” Roman answered simply. There was no need to lie, and frankly speaking he was too tipsy to care right now.
“What’s so special about her?” Ever since she came, you have changed. Nothing is the same anymore, and everyone has noticed. You run around her like her lap dog, always at her beck and call.
Roman, dropped the controller in anger. “What is it with everyone?” he asked, “why do you all have a problem with how I am around Emily?”
Because it’s ridiculous, Stefan said, frustration lacing his tone. You are the man, she should be the one running after you, not you following her around like a puppy. You are the next Beta to rule with me, this behavior is sickening.
Roman swallowed thickly, “do you really mean that?” he asked.
“Yes,” Stefan answered without remorse.
“Emily is my Mate,” Roman told Stefan quietly, hoping that word alone would convey how he felt.
Stefan, laughed in disbelief. “ How do you know?” he asked, "you are not even up to eighteen yet.”
“How do you think I found her that day?” he says, from her scent. I have read everything I can on mate bond, and Stefan, I am very sure that Emily is my mate.
“I really love her.”
Stefan burst out laughing, clutching his stomach as he laughed harder.
Roman shakes his head, drinking from the bottle of vodka. He was tired of explaining how he felt to everyone, at this point they would only believe him the day they see him sealing his mate's bond with Emily.
“I hope my mate doesn’t make me crazy," Stefan says, grinning wide.
“I am not crazy,” Roman told him, rolling his eyes.
“So you and Clara were not fucking?” Stefan asks.
“What?” “No.” Why would I do that with her, Roman says, blushing.
Please, don’t tell me all these while we were cheering you, you left a sexy girl like Clara, “to go hang out with Emily?” Wow!!! Stefan says, shaking his head.
“Man do you know how many of us want Clara,”and she wouldn’t even give us the time of day. She has been throwing herself at you, since we were fifteen.
Roman shrugged his shoulders, I really don’t care, he says. I have told her multiple times that I wasn’t interested, not my business if she doesn’t get it.
Damm, you can be so cold Stefan says, that’s why it’s so out of character when we see you with Emily.
Roman didn’t say anything, he knew Stefan was right.
They were both startled, as someone knocked on Stefan’s window. Roman walked towards it, laughing at the sight of Owen’s eyes popping on the glass. He opened the window, letting Owen in.
Oh!!! Owen mutters, “party without me?” he says.
Don’t be a sore baby, it was totally unplanned. Stefan says, passing him the almost empty bottle of vodka.
Roman staggers towards the bed, laughing at how drunk he was. He slumped down on Stefan’s bed, chuckling to himself.
Stefan and Owen glanced at him, shrugging their shoulders, before resuming the game they had been playing.
Roman thought of that moment in his car, Chiara he mumbled, rolling the name on his tongue. She was more outgoing than Emily, more bold and playful too from the little he had glimpsed of her.
He ran his fingers over his lips, the quick kiss she had given him running through his mind.
Roman pondered on her request, where would he start from? he thought.
He needed to find who the unknown man that killed Miss Falcon was. Roman sighed, wondering how he was going to find that information.
He thought about Alpha Regan, if anyone had any leading information, it would be him.
All Roman needed to do was to find a way to sneak into his office. He breathed out slowly, smiling as he drifted off to sleep.
Stefan glances at a passed out Roman, pausing the recording he had been making. By tomorrow, Clara and the whole school would have found out how much of a simp he was.
