Chapter 19 CHAPTER NINETEEN
EMILY’S POV
Emily pushed her way through the shocked crowd, her feet sprinting towards Roman. She pushed against the guards, who were already blocking the scene.
Move Sheila commanded beside her, the guards creating a way at the familiar sight of their pack doctor.
Emily rushed past, her knees hitting the sandy floor as she knelt close to Roman. The coward, who had stabbed him was being held down by three guards as he struggled, an evil smile on his face.
Tears pour down Emily’s face, why couldn’t they catch a break. Roman groaned, his face twisted in pain as Sheila touched the spot where he had been stabbed.
She sighed in relief. It’s not that deep, she said, the guy had missed stabbing any fatal organ.
Emily sighed in relief, clutching Roman's hand. One of the guards assisted Roman up, while the rest dragged the mad man, who kept screaming how it was all their fault away.
Alpha Castor's loud voice boomed across the field as he tried to calm the panic, playing it off as part of the game, before directing everyone to where the party would be held.
Emily followed Sheila into the warriors changing room, her eyes glancing around as she took in the surroundings. The place was designed as a boy’s locker room, with each warrior assigned a personal locker. Different gym equipment was scattered about, left over clothes scattered about the room from the rush of preparing for the game.
They directed Roman to a chair, sitting him down as Sheila requested for their first aid box.
One of the warriors known as Jackson, who Emily had seen a few times with Roman, rushed forward, the first aid box in his hands.
Sheila thanked him, before searching through the box, smiling when she found what she was looking for. While Emily looked on, wide eyed, her hands clutching Roman’s tightly.
This is going to hurt, Sheila said, before dragging the knife out of Roman. He gritted his teeth, his hands squeezing Emily’s painfully.
Emily didn’t mind, she was here to offer him whatever comfort he needed. She knew she was acting clingy, but right now she really didn’t care.
After cleaning his wounds, Sheila wrapped up his injury, before offering him painkillers. Roman thanked her, smiling softly at her.
Well!!!, what a day huh she said, standing up. We all need alcohol, to wash away this crazy day. Some of the warriors laughed, breaking the awkwardness.
Gently, Roman stood up. Emily gave him just enough space to walk around, watching as he checked if he could move around.
In no time, you will be completely healed up Sheila said, you just have to take it easy, no strenuous activities.
Sheila chuckled, as she glanced down at her cloth now stained with blood, before looking at Emily.
She dragged Emily to her side. Let’s leave them to prepare for the party huh she said, we need to go change our clothes.
Emily finally glanced down at herself, before looking around. Most of the warriors were half naked, they had bashed in on some of them, she blushed, uttering a quiet apology, before looking towards Roman.
She hesitated, reluctant to leave him. He smiled at her, I will see you at the party. He said, I am fine, don't worry, ok. She sighed, nodding her head before following Sheila out of the room.
They got to Sheila’s house. Emily took in the small house, astonished with the fact that she didn’t even know where Sheila lived all this while. She took in the small, warm comfortable house. Noting how neat it was, with everything placed beautifully.
Sheila's familiar scent filled the whole house. I don’t know if this would fit you, she said, coming out from her room.
She had changed into a dark blue simple yet elegant short gown, the dress tight fitted to her body. She extended her hands out, passing Emily a red short gown.
I don’t know, Emily said, as she held up the dress to her frame.
Just put it on, Sheila urged. Sighing, Emily stripped out of the dress she was putting on, before trying on the one Sheila had lended her.
The gown flowed down her body, stopping at her knees, her baby bump dragging up the gown a little.
See, it looks so good on you. Sheila said, looking Emily up and down.
Emily simply rolled her eyes. She smiled, loving the dress on her. After touching up their makeup and hair, they left Sheila’s house, heading back to the party.
The party was already in full swing when they got there, Emily took in how fanciful the decorations were, she glanced around, hoping to spot Roman among the crowds.
Sheila dragged her deeper, Emily standing awkwardly by her side, as she greeted the new faces from other packs.
Emily turned, stiffening at the sight of Owen. Well!! she couldn’t avoid him forever, she thought bitterly.
Can I speak to you please he whispered to her, smiling softly, Emily glanced around, Sheila was occupied, and Roman was nowhere to be found.
What harm could it be, Owen had been a friend, she was sure he meant no harm. She nodded her head, before following him.
They found a quiet place, Owen digging his hands into his pockets, bringing out two envelopes.
““First off he stated, I am really sorry I couldn’t do more for you or Roman, but I want you to know that we miss you and want the best for you.””
He handed her the letter, smiling softly at her.“ She misses him greatly, he said, looking down.””
“How is she?” Emily asked, running her fingers through the smooth surface of the letter.
Currently five months pregnant, crumpy and generally being Bella, he said, laughing.
Emily smiled bitterly, blinking back the tears. Please, tell her how sorry I am. I just!!Emily broke down, tears spilling from her eyes as guilt ran through her.
Hey!!Hey!! Owen said, hugging her as he rubbed her back. She knows ok, it’s ok, nobody blames you, either of you.
What’s going on here? a sharp voice spoke out, Emily turned her head towards Roman, drying her tears as she removed herself from Owen's hold.
It’s nothing, she said, thanking Owen before leaving the both of them. They needed to discuss, Owen was one of Roman’s friends, and his sister's Mate.
She stood a quiet distance, glancing back at them as they converse. Before looking down at the letter in her hands, pocketing the one meant for her.
She watched as they shook hands, before Roman strolled towards her.
“How’s your wound?” she asked him.
“It’s fine," he told her, his gaze slowly roaming down her body.”
Emily blushed, before handing him the letter his sister had written to him.
Roman gritted his teeth as he looked down at it, he took the letter from her hands, before pocketing it.
They walked back towards the main venue, just in time as Alpha Castor took the stage.
He clinked on his glass, drawing the attention of everyone in the room.
First off, I want to apologize for the unexpected turn of events. He said, referring to what had happened earlier at the arena. Anyways he continued, I want to thank each and everyone of you that had come here today to celebrate my daughter, and the birth of a new alliance formed between the Red Moon pack, and the Silver Crescent pack.
He then proceeded to call on Stefan, and Kimberly.
Emily watched them as they walked up the stage, both of them dressed elegantly, their poise rigid and proud.
They looked good together, she thought, confused at how free she felt. The sight of them did nothing to her, the heart pain she expected was absent, instead in its place was relief.
They faced each other, their hands clasped together as Alpha Castor officiated their new formed bond, both exchanging their vows in front of everyone. After that, Stefan and Alpha Castor officially signed the alliance.
Everyone clapped, cheering loudly at the union. Kimberly kissed Stefan quickly, a wide happy smile on her face.
Eat as much as you want, drink and be merry, he raised his glass, prompting the crowd to do the same. To a peaceful union he cheered, drinking his glass in a go.
Soft music fills the room, as bustling chatter ensures. Men and women took to the dance floor, dancing and laughing.
Emily glanced at Roman, who stood close to her. They both glanced at themselves, their eyes roaming each other’s face. Briefly, Emily eyes flickers towards Roman lips, unconsciously licking her own.
Hey!! There you are Sheila said, breaking the intense staring match that had been going on between them.
Emily turned towards Sheila, embarrassed with her actions. Sheila linked her hands with Roman, smiling at him. Can I have this dance she asked him, bowing slightly.
Without waiting for his reply, Sheila dragged Roman to the dance floor, leaving Emily standing there alone.
She watched as Sheila gently guarded Roman through the dance, laughing as he blushed, embarrassed after missing his footstep.
Bitter jealousy, clawed at Emily’s heart. She turned in anger, about to leave, miscalculating her steps. She gasped as she fell, relieved when steady hands held her, stopping her fall.
Thank you she says automatically, her eyes glancing up. Whatever else she had to say, died on her lips, as she met the cold gaze of Stefan’s.
