Chapter 31 Chapter 31. Zoria Set Up on the Staircase
Being four months pregnant already made her prone to drowsiness. Zoria had not slept well the night before, and now she only wanted to take advantage of Zephyr not being home to catch up on some sleep.
Just then, the sound of a car stopping came from outside. Zoria’s expression froze. Why was Zephyr back so early today? A bad feeling rose in her chest. She was just about to turn back to her room to hide when someone suddenly grabbed her wrist from behind.
Zoria turned around and saw Faye staring at her with dark, gloomy eyes, like a venomous snake watching its prey.
“Let go of me,” Zoria said coldly.
Zoria had been framed by Faye before, so she knew that whenever Faye got close to her, nothing good ever came of it. She had always kept her distance from Faye. Now that Faye was suddenly this close, her heart felt like it was lodged in her throat.
They were standing right by the staircase, and struggling like this made it very easy to fall. Zoria suddenly remembered how Faye had falsely accused her before. Could it be that Faye was planning to…
The thought had barely flashed through her mind when she saw a cold glint in Faye’s eyes. Faye’s body suddenly tilted backward, and she rolled straight down from the second floor.
“Faye!”
Following the shout, Zoria looked down and saw Zephyr stepping in from outside with a dark expression. He rushed over to Faye and helped her up.
Zoria stood upstairs and could not clearly see Faye’s condition. She only saw Zephyr look up at her with a ferocious gaze that made her shudder. Zoria glanced at the surveillance camera on the wall. There were cameras here. Zephyr could not just frame her however he wanted.
……
After watching those ambiguous videos and photos of Zoria, Zephyr had rushed home in a rage. He had not expected that the moment he arrived, he would see Faye fallen at the bottom of the stairs, with Zoria standing on the second floor.
Zephyr carefully checked Faye’s body and found that only her arms and legs were bruised in a few places. There were no injuries elsewhere. Still, falling from that height made him worry that she might have hit her head.
He picked Faye up in his arms and asked, “What happened?”
Faye held back her tears and looked upstairs toward Zoria with a wronged expression. “Zoria ran out on her own. I asked her where she was going, but she would not say. Then I found this in her bag. When I asked her why she had it, she got angry and pushed me down the stairs. She would not even let me touch her things.”
Zephyr lowered his head and looked at what was in Faye’s hand. It was a bottle of lubricant that was more than half used. This had been found in Zoria’s bag?
His mind immediately went back to that video, of Zoria and Evander entering the same room and staying inside for nearly an hour.
What had they been doing there?
The image of them doing something filthy in that room made Zephyr want to kill Zoria in that instant. The violent fury surging inside him made him want someone dead for the first time in his life.
Even Faye was frightened by the killing intent coming off Zephyr. She had planned to add a few more incendiary remarks, but she did not dare to continue.
The moment Zoria saw the vicious look in Zephyr’s eyes, she was terrified. She knew he already believed Faye. Thinking about it now, she could only find it ridiculous. She had been framed by Faye twice using the exact same trick.
“That thing is not mine. You were the one who told me to buy it. You even made me buy bruise ointment for you…”
Before Zoria could finish, Faye cut her off. “Zoria, how can you smear me again and again like this? All my medicine is bought by the servants in the villa. And how could I possibly tell you to buy lubricant? Besides, Zephyr grounded you. If you had not sneaked out, who would have allowed you to go?” After saying that, Faye pretended to be in pain and collapsed into Zephyr’s arms. “Zephyr, if you do not believe me, you can ask anyone in the villa.”
Zoria clenched her palms and ground her teeth. Hearing Faye say this, she knew Faye had already bribed all the servants in the villa. Faye was truly vicious.
Zoria had never done anything to wrong Faye, yet Faye had framed her again and again.
Zephyr’s eyes were terrifying at this moment. He handed Faye over to the servant beside him and told them to invite Dr. Smith over.
Then he stared at Zoria and slowly lifted his foot to walk up the stairs. The sound of his leather shoes hitting each step was heavy, like they were stomping straight on Zoria’s heart.
Zoria’s face turned pale. Almost out of instinct, she turned and ran back to her bedroom, locked the door, dragged a table over to block it, and leaned against the door, trembling.
“Zoria, open the door.” The cold voice came from outside, like a demon crawling out of hell.
Zoria raised her hand and bit down hard on her finger, her voice shaking. “Zephyr, I did not touch her. You can check the cameras. I did not push Faye.”
Zephyr’s eyes narrowed, a cold killing intent shooting straight out. "Zoria, open the door. I’ll count to three."
Zoria shook her head. She could not open it. The look in Zephyr’s eyes just now had clearly been murderous. But if she did not open the door for him, where could she possibly run?
"One." His hoarse voice sounded from outside. Zoria clenched her hands tightly, cold sweat breaking out across her forehead.
"Two." Zephyr ground the number out through clenched teeth. The fury inside him surged violently. How dare Zoria disobey him?
What enraged him most was not that she had pushed Faye down the stairs, but that he had seen with his own eyes Zoria leaving the villa to meet Evander, even staying alone with him in a private room for so long.
