Chapter 32 Chapter 32. Zephyr’s Violent Interrogation of Zoria’s ‘Betrayal’
In his hand, Zephyr gripped the bottle of lubricant Faye had given him earlier, squeezing it so hard it seemed he might crush the plastic.
Before he even reached "three", Zephyr kicked the door hard. The door shook violently, the entire frame looking as though it might collapse.
Inside, Zoria turned pale with fright and hurriedly backed away from the door, her panicked gaze darting around for anything she could use to defend herself against Zephyr.
But only minutes later, the door was destroyed. Zephyr directly called in his males to dismantle it completely.
Zoria instantly shrank back like a startled rabbit, retreating into a corner, her whole body trembling, eyes wide with terror.
The corner of Zephyr’s lips curved into a cold smile. Suppressing his anger, he spoke in a calm voice that was frightening in its restraint. "Zoria, why didn’t you listen to me?"
The calmer he was, the more terrified Zoria became. Her lips trembled as she tried to explain. "Zephyr, I didn’t push Faye. I didn’t touch her. Everything she just said was a lie to deceive you."
Zephyr lazily sat down on a chair, reached into his pocket, pulled out a pack of cigarettes, and lit one. A faint smile curved his lips as he tilted his head back and took a drag. Pale gray smoke shrouded his face, making his expression impossible to read.
The room was so quiet that Zoria could clearly hear the sound of Zephyr tapping ash.
Ash fell loosely from his fingers. Zephyr raised his head and lifted a brow. "Zoria, we’ll put Faye’s matter aside for now. I want to talk about something else."
That composure made Zoria tremble uncontrollably. She bit down hard on her lower lip, trying to stop her teeth from chattering.
"You bought this, didn’t you? Just answer yes or no." Zephyr tossed the bottle of lubricant at Zoria’s feet.
Zoria nodded. She was too frightened to speak.
A flash of killing intent crossed Zephyr’s eyes. He ground his teeth, rolling the cigarette between his fingers. "Did you go to see Evander today?"
Zoria nodded again. At that point, she already knew Zephyr had misunderstood.
"I only went to buy medicine. Medicine for Faye."
Zephyr let out a mocking laugh. He tossed the cigarette onto the floor and crushed it under his foot. The glowing ember turned into a dirty black smear on the spotless floor. He stood and walked toward Zoria step by step. At nearly six foot two, he looked down at her pale face from above.
"There are clearly pharmacies nearby. Why did you insist on going to him? And before buying medicine, why did you buy this?"
"The ointment and the lubricant were both things Faye told me to buy. I didn’t decide on my own."
Zephyr’s gaze turned icy. He reached out and grabbed Zoria’s chin. "You’re still trying to make excuses to lie to me?"
"I’m not. I really am not." Zoria’s eyes reddened.
"Zoria, do you always pretend to be pitiful and harmless in front of me, then use your vicious little tricks behind my back? You really are Evehart’s daughter. You’re just as cruel as your father."
"The one using vicious tricks is Faye, not me!" Why was it that Zephyr never believed her?
Zephyr said coldly, "Twice. The first time, you injured Faye’s forehead. This time, you pushed her down the stairs. What excuse do you have left? Zoria, it looks like last time I punished you too lightly, so you didn’t learn your lesson."
Zoria felt her fingertips go ice cold. She clenched her fists, the chill spreading quickly to her palms and then throughout her body, making her tremble nonstop. She had always been gentle by nature. After living with Zephyr for so many years, no matter how much injustice she suffered, she kept it all inside and never complained to him even once.
That prolonged endurance made Zephyr think she was born to be a submissive female, so he humiliated her more and more freely, doing whatever he pleased to her.
Zoria curved her lips into a bitter smile and asked him, "Then tell me, why would I want to hurt Faye?"
Zephyr froze. He frowned, as if he had never considered that question. Was it jealousy? Hatred? He stared at Zoria’s face, trying to find the answer in her eyes.
Then he saw Zoria laugh, tears spilling over and falling onto his hand. "Zephyr, do you think I still love you? That because you doted on Faye, I got jealous and hurt her?"
Wasn’t that the case?
The self righteous look in Zephyr’s eyes made Zoria feel sick. "Zephyr, I don’t love you anymore. Now I just want to get far away from you. If you and Faye become mates, I will definitely wish you happiness until old age."
"Slap!"
A slap landed squarely on Zoria’s face before she could react. She was struck so hard her head spun, her ears ringing before she could even feel the pain.
A few seconds later, Zoria came back to herself. She raised a hand to touch her burning cheek, then mocked herself for how quickly she had grown used to Zephyr’s blows.
"Zoria, so you finally told the truth. You want to get far away from me? So far that you can easily run away with Evander? When you said you wanted to sever the bond with me, had you already cheated on me with him? You were only under house arrest for a month, and you couldn’t stand the loneliness and ran to find him? At the hospital, did he fuck you until you were satisfied?"
Zephyr’s insane suspicion and possessiveness made Zoria feel disgusted. She understood clearly that to him, she was nothing more than a toy. His possessiveness over a toy was not because of love, but simply because it was "mine". Even if it broke, no one else was allowed to touch it.
"How many times do I have to say it before you believe me? There is nothing between me and Evander!"
Zephyr roared, "You say there’s nothing, then tell me what these are!"
He pulled out his phone, opened the photos, and grabbed Zoria’s chin, forcing her to look.
Zoria glanced over. In the photo, she and Evander were standing by the roadside waiting for a taxi, but the angle made it look like they were kissing.
"And this too." Zephyr swiped and opened a video. "The two of you went into the same room and stayed inside for almost an hour. Tell me, what did you do during that hour?"
She had gone into that room to check on the fetus in her womb, but she could not say it. She could not let Zephyr know she was pregnant.
"I didn’t do the filthy things you’re thinking!"
Zephyr took her words as a cover up. His fury exploded. He bent down, scooped Zoria up in his arms, strode out, and headed straight for the staircase.
"If you won’t talk, then I’ll throw you down from here!"
