Chapter 89 Chapter 89
Keegan pulled over and a few of the men around the large building came up to open both sides of the door for us to step out.
"Thank you." I said with a small smile.
Keegan held me as two of the men led the way inside the extremely wide two-storey building.
When we walked in, the entire place had spooky things hung on the wall and the curtains were all in dark red and white, covering most part of the wall. Aside from that, the room was very empty with only a few chairs here and there.
"That's Roger, your trainer." Keegan gesticulated to a man on one of the chairs. He was extremely hefty and was shirtless; dark and scary tattoos ran all over his body and he was wearing something like a large black blanket around his waist with dark flowers like a crown around his head. His face also had what looked like mascara on his eyelids, lips, and cheeks. He looked really gothic and that scared me.
"Hi Roger." I waved at him when we stopped in front of him.
I glanced at Keegan and his face was as cold as normal as he shoved his hands into his pants' pockets. "Is everything ready?"
"Yes, Alpha Keegan. I've arranged for the first session for her." his voice was as deep and scary as his look.
"I can leave now, right?"
Leave? I glanced at him, hoping he was going to at least pity me and wait here with me. The man seemed like he could murder me, no offence.
"Yes, you can."
"Okay. Jane, When you're done, you can let me know. If I'm unable to come pick you up after my meeting at Crescent pack, I'll send someone else to do it."
"You'll have to take her phone with you. There must be no distractions." Roger snapped my phone from my hand and passed it to Keegan who nodded in understanding and took his leave. "Let's get going. There's no time to waste." When he held me, my body shuddered and I gasped.
'Jane, you'll be fine.' I tried to assure myself that I was going to be.
He led me to a room, also very blank with only red clothes on all sides of the wall and a white rug on the floor.
"Sit on the floor with your legs folded and your palms joined together." he said and I did as instructed. "Now shut your eyes and try to focus." He said in a very soothing voice. I nodded and did that. "Now try to think of something really calming." I thought of being at the lake back at Andersons town and it was really calming. "Now, try to call out to you wolf."
"What?" I opened my eyes, confused. "I have no idea about her, how am I supposed to call out to her?"
"That's the point. You don't know your wolf, that's why you're meant to stay still and try to concentrate. You're supposed to be paying so much attention, this is supposed to be a meditation session."
I nodded in partial understanding and shut my eyes again. "Now try calling out to your wolf again."
I tried calling out to my wolf but I was clueless so it still didn't make any sense.
After multiple failed attempts, he sighed and rose to his feet.
"Let's have a few physical training sessions for now before heading to the meditation session."
He called a few more people that started helping me out with physical training then he took his leave.
They educated me on a few defense skills- the oral training, then I had to put to practice what I had just learned and fight one of the men that was equally as hefty as Roger.
It was so annoying because I didn't think I had the brain to have accumulated all those defense skills, but as the fight went by, I realized I had learned quite well and was able to defend myself well enough till he sent a hard blow to my shoulder. His blow made my entire body paralyzed and I dropped to the ground, whining in pain. "I'm so sorry." So he could apologize after hitting me so mercilessly?
"Het up and continue. Give her a few more tips to note down or learn now, then hop back on to the defense training then give her the chance to practice attacking skills. In the meantime, Jane, is there anything you really like or a place you feel comfortable in, like somewhere you'd love to be, a Library, a night club, water, around trees?"
"Yes. I love nature. Lakes, oceans, sand, trees, a beautiful view of the sky..."
"Okay, that's enough and perfect" He cut me off. "Ensure to spare no mercy." He said to the man then back to me, "learn the defense skills if you want to succeed, for now. Even if you're exhausted, you aren't leaving here till you've trained well enough." He took his leave again.
Did he really want to be that hard on me? My body still hurts from this man's stupid blow.
The men taught me even more defense skills and assisted me in the positions I ought to stand in.
When we had physical training again, I was better than last time but of course, he still beat me up.
As the training continued, I was starting to feel really strange, like a form of weakness and hard pain in my tummy. I could've said it was due to his beatings or his blows but he had only hit my shoulders and not my stomach. Though his pinches hurt so much, they didn't feel like the cause of the pain in my lower abdomen.
I shook the thought of the pain off and resumed brutal training with the men.
After a while, Roger returned then signaled for the men to walk over to him. They had a short discussion I couldn't hear then started taking their leave.
"Bye. Till next time." The main man training me said before taking his leave.
I jumped to my feet, still panting but extremely glad I was done for today. "When is the next training date?" I grinned.
"I'll get across Alpha Keegan for that." Roger said emotionlessly.
"Okay, great. Bye!" I was about to take my leave.
"Where are you heading to?" he creased his brows. "Home. Can I borrow your phone? I can't really mind link Keegan yet."
"You can't go home yet. This session isn't over. You have to reach out to your wolf. And you didn't let me know you can't mind link even your mate yet." He rubbed his chin. "I'll slide that into the preparation."
"We aren't done yet?!" The horror that crashed upon me was unexplainable.
"Yes. Let's get going."
The horror of still being with him made the strange feeling in my stomach be associated with terrible pains in my leg and a headache was slowly forming in my head.
Roger led me out of the room then we continued walking; we passed a corridor then stopped at a door. He pushed the door open and we stepped out; there was a small lake in front of us with trees around it and multiple rocks on the fine sand sitting pretty close to the water.
"Wow, this is so nice." I commented, advancing towards the lake.
"Since you said you like nature, we arranged this for you." He commented.
The place was also filled with so many beautiful and scented flowers that made everything about it even more pleasant.
"Now sit on a rock and shut your eyes. You have to swim into the deep realm of understanding in order to reach out to your locked up wolf. The plants here are mostly loved by wolves, so it'll enhance your wolf's attention."
I sat on the rock and shut my eyes, waiting for his next instruction..
Soon, I heard footsteps approaching me. I opened my eyes and saw a few men with two small cylindrical containers that had something hot in them; they placed the small cylinders around me and I realized the cylinders contained burning herb-like leaves. The smell of the smoke coming from the cylinders was so pleasant and just raised my mood.
After the men took their leave, Roger said, "close your eyes." I did as he said. "Now sink deeper in thoughts.
The smell of the herbs around me as I shut my eyes suddenly made me feel like I was in a field of large, beautiful, and wonderful- smelling flowers. The field was very wide and I was in the middle. The only thing I could see was the bright sky as the sun shone above the scintillating petals.
"Call on your wolf," Roger's voice whispered in my ear in the rhythm of the wind that swept the flowers around me. "Hello?" I called to nobody. "I'm Jane. If you're my wolf, I'm calling unto you." I doubted if that was the right way; suddenly, I heard sounds from behind me.
I jerked to the sound and saw a glistening wolf far ahead of me in the field. The wolf was huge and its fur was so perfectly laid all over. It had dark blue eyes that contrasted the silverness and whiteness of its fur. "Are you my wolf?" Stupid question, I know, but I just needed clarification.
"Hi Jane, finally." The wolf was way too far and that made her voice faint. "I'm Vera, your wolf." I heard her say it clearly.
When I wanted to advance to it, it felt like a force pulled me back and I was back to being in the lake.
I glanced around, panting and spotted Roger with his eyes glued to me.
"I saw my wolf, it's a silver wolf. She said her name is Vera and the voice was so familiar, like..." I suddenly trailed off, remembering where I had known the voice. "I know it. I usually hear the voice in my head but I always thought it was an inner voice or something." My eyes and mouth widened. "So I've been hearing my wolf's voice once in a while all these years?".
"That's great news and very good progress. You're free to leave now.
I'd send someone to phone Alpha, and remind me to work on your mind link strength in your next meeting."
"Okay." I nodded and someone was called to lead me out of the lake and out of Roger's building. I twirled and squeaked, glad that I was progressing in finally having a wolf.
Vera! It was such a cute name. So she had always been in my head but I never paid attention?
My excitement was cut off by the strange feeling in my stomach that made me feel quite weak.
I brushed the thought of the pain off and decided to wait outside the small building while the man left to give Keegan a phone call. I couldn't wait to share this good news with him.
The messenger returned with a poker face. "He's still at the meeting. He said there's currently no one available but you should use a public bus to head back home safely and he apologizes for that."
"Okay, no problem."
He didn't say anything again then returned inside.
I glanced around and started walking out, I tried to head out into an open space but realized I didn't know where I was heading to.
"I ought to tell the man to lead me to a bus station. Stupid me." I complained to myself and decided to turn back to Roger's building.
I squealed as I tripped over a rock and fell to the ground. "Ouch." I groaned, rubbing my knee that now had a slight cut.
"Hey Jane," someone called.
I lifted my gaze and met Freya's crustacean eyes staring down at me.
"Oh, you." I said. "We're finally meeting again."
