Chapter 85 Chapter 85
"W-what are you doing Scarlett?" I stuttered as she stormed to me.
"What am I doing? Aren't I supposed to be asking you that question? "She asked through gritted teeth.
"What do you mean?"
She stopped in front of me, flipping the knife over her fingers without falling it. "You, Jane, you promised me not to bother and that Keegan would be mine. You assured me that nothing was going on between both of you, but guess who is now his mate? Not me, no, you are!" She pointed the knife at me with hurt and rage flashing in her blue eyes.
I flinched back from her with my hands lifted. "Can you at least drop the knife?"
"The knife changes nothing, I just want to talk. How can I possibly kill you? I'm not a terrible person like you. I just need to let you know that you're the worst friend ever and you betrayed me.
"I helped you out in your time of need but when you knew how much I love Keegan and you could have the chance to repay me by helping me out in achieving my goal of becoming his Luna, you still decided to take him!"
"I didn't take him." I still wasn't comfortable with the knife so I quickly grabbed it from her hand and threw it on the floor.
"I know you must think you've won against me now, but I'm not giving up yet, I'll still have him." she cried. "And now that you've broken my trust completely, things are going to be more heated because all I'll think about you is that you're nothing but a cunning bitchy woman."
"Don't try to make me feel terrible. Keegan never even liked you as his mate from the start. You were always trying too hard to get what was never yours." I frowned. Didn't she realize she was being so unreasonable? "The moon goddess chose me and Keegan as mates because of course she knows what is right. She gave you your destined mate but you kept on pushing him away. For what? Just so you can have Keegan that's already mine?"
"Yours?" She scoffed and picked the knife again; her action was too fast for me to have any time to run away, so she grabbed my shoulder. "What the fuck did you mean by yours?" she barked, pointing it at me while panting.
"Sc-Scarlett, pleas-please drop the knife." I stuttered.
"Don't try to change the topic. You're nothing but a sneaky bitch and right now, I feel like pulling your hair out of your fucking scalp!" she was literally barking.
"Scarlett!" Keegan exclaimed and made her flinch. He scurried to us and took the knife from her hand, throwing it across the room. "Stop this nonsense already. If you resume such violent behavior towards your Luna or anyone else, you're taking the risk of forfeiting your status and the risk of being sent to a psychiatric hospital.
"Just because I remain quiet doesn't mean I'm stupid or clueless. I ignored you for so many years in high hopes that you were going to get over your infatuated feelings towards me. I already made sure to let you know that there's no hope for a relationship for us. You claim to be my best friend, but the least you can do is to respect my decision. If I wasn't here, what would you have done? Would you have stabbed her?"
"n-no... I- I was..." her eyes had widened as she shook her head.
"This has to be the last time you'll ever try to threaten Jane. Please head out now."
"But Keegan, I wasn't-"
"Don't make me lose my temper." He warned in his deeper Alpha tone.
She bowed in surrender then cast a hate-filled glance at me before she took her leave.
I let out a deep breath of relief and his amber eyes softened. "Are you okay? I hope she didn't hurt you?"
"No, she didn't."
"Don't try to let anyone make you feel manipulated or inferior. Take your charge, okay? You're not a weak omega, you're in control of things around here now." He reminded me and I nodded. "I can't believe she's still so crazy about me. What's wrong with women and why'd anyone be so obsessed over one person..." he suddenly trailed off. "Okay, I think if you had gone to another and I feel this crazy about you, I wouldn't just let it go. I'd destroy everything until I have you back." Though he was very serious, he made it sound like a joke.
I chuckled. "Now I understand where she got her craziness from."
Something suddenly hit the headboard. From the low whimper, I could tell Rylee had probably hit her head.
"What's that?" He wondered.
"Nothing!" I said in a higher pitch, pulling him away before he could go to her then held his face to draw him into a deep kiss. "You know ... Mae's graduation party is coming up soon, most likely this weekend, and I'd like to go, so come and help me out with selecting what dress I'd look best in." I twittered.
"You're acting strange." He drew his eyes in skepticism.
"No way." I huffed. "Let's just head to your bedroom." I wore a genuine smile to wash off the nervousness and held his collar. "I think I want to sleep there tonight, just wrapped up in your arms like back at the beach house."
"You must've read my mind, because I've been looking forward to that." He smiled and held the small of my back to lead me out of the room.
\- SCARLETT -
Heartbroken and furious couldn't express how I felt. I wanted to cry my eyes out but with so many people around, I was going to ridicule myself as a beta of Dark stone pack if I cried.
When I lost my idea of what to do, I decided to head out and let the breeze dry up the tears in my eyes.
After a while of walking, I spotted Shane instructing a few guards on what to do.
"Hey beta." he waved and sauntered to me. "How are you-whoa, what's wrong?"
"Don't act like you don't know." My croaking voice made it obvious that I was on the verge of crying.
"Please let's head inside before any emotional outburst occurs." he said.
I sighed and let him lead the way to a mansion a few feet away from the guard area.
We got in and I had my seat on one of the comfortable sofas. The room wasn't so big and neither was it small, just the perfect size for a bachelor.
"I understand that it's because of the mate between Alpha Keegan and that stupid omega. All I want to do now is destroy the annoying relationship. It's obvious that they have a strong bond towards each other, judging from the party night, but we'll have to separate them."
"Separate them?"
"Yes. Not in a way that'll affect Alpha Keegan though. We don't want to betray our Alpha, right?"
"Yes, you're right.
"I'll remain loyal to him. I just don't want that omega around him.
I'd like to scrape the title of Luna from her name." He said with a frown as he clenched his fists.
"You obviously hate Jane. Do you mind telling me your reason behind it?" I asked with my eyes drawn together.
"Soon, you'll know about it."
I wanted to ask him more questions, but was distracted by a young girl that walked from down the stairs, rubbing her sleepy eyes with her fingers.
"Hey Dad, I didn't know you were back." She hugged Shane
"Dad?!" I wondered.
"Yes, she's my 11-year old daughter, Ariella," he explained.
"Wow, how didn't I know there was an Ariella Lock in the pack?” I chuckled, wondering how the hell he had an eleven-year old daughter, then I remembered that he was 29.
"Who's she?" Ariella asked. "She looks familiar." "The beta, Scarlett." Shane replied
"Wow, I'm so glad to meet you!" She shook my hand with both hands, grinning and not looking sleepy again. She was very beautiful and had Shane's chocolate eyes and brown hair. "I have so many things to discuss with you, of course, if you don't mind."
"Ariella, please let her be." he rolled his eyes.
"No, it's fine."
"She'll only stress you out even more. She's too smart for her age and will bother you with unnecessary questions." he warned.
"I don't think I mind." I had no one else to talk to, especially not Mom and Dad; they were so mad at me for letting someone else be Luna, so I could just remain here till my frustration was all out.
