Chapter 86 Chapter 86
"So Mae has been working here without a complete degree, isn't that unfair?" Keegan said while typing away on his laptop.
"What do you mean?"
"She's just graduating, duh, so she hasn't received her graduation certificate yet."
I chuckled and made my hair into two French braids and wore two gold earrings that were going to match my necklace and blue knee- length dress.
"Will you be returning today?" He asked, still not taking his gaze off his laptop.
"Today?" I huffed. "When we went for Scarlett's parent's wedding anniversary party, was the entire time spent traveling back and forth a day?" I folded my arms across my chest.
He only chuckled and still didn't raise his head. I wanted to know what he thought of my appearance but didn't want to sound too desperate this time.
"If there's one thing I'm excited about, it's that Vladimir is returning to his pack and not trying to make my life a mess as always."
"Yes, I agree." What the hell was I even saying? I just wanted to know his thoughts on how I looked. I cleared my throat and tapped my foot to gain his attention but he still didn't spare a glance at you. "You're always too busy and don't have time for anything else." I complained
He still didn't look at me. "I know that and I apologize for it, but the pack's gotta make big money and that can only happen if we all work, but mostly me."
"Sure, alright." I forced a smile and headed out of his bedroom and heard him chuckle as I left.
"You look great, by the way." He yelled to me but I rolled my eyes at him. He didn't even see me.
I sauntered back to my room and Rylee was sitting on my bed, just gazing at the turned off television screen.
"Hey," I whispered and shut the door before walking over to her.
"Hi." She waved with a grin.
"How are you doing? You must be very bored."
"I was thinking of going to bed or doing something else but there's nothing to do. Now that you're leaving, who will I talk to?" her emerald eyes bugged out in dread.
"Don't worry, you'll be fine." I pulled her into a hug. You should be careful and make sure you stay in here at all costs. And mostly try to avoid Kate. Also, remember Keegan has a great hearing sensitivity so if you talk too much or make loud noises, he'd hear you. Just try to lock the door and be safe."
"Keegan is the Alpha?" she asked for clarification.
"Yes." I replied and she shuddered horror.
"He's not that terrible." I said and she shook her head in disagreement. "You still won't listen, uh? But you know I have to tell him about you soon because he's my mate and I can't hide something this big from him."
"Please, at least not now, hearing Alpha Keegan's name has traumatized me my whole life. I'd pass out if I see him. Please just wait a little more. Please promise me you will." She held my hand with both her hands.
"Okay, okay. I have to go now. I already made so much food for the next three days and have to ensure that they'll be warm. You can use that small microwave there." I pointed to the microwave. "Do you know how to use it?"
"I was the omega, they made me do all the chores, so I was forced to know how to microwave my pack members' food."
"Great, so you'll have enough food and water before I return. Oh, and She cut me off by wrapping her arms around my neck really tight. " Thank you so much! I'm so happy I found you and not someone else. I don't know what I'd have done if I didn't meet you strolling. I love you so much."
"Aw, I love you too." I hugged her back and kissed her on her head. " I'm also happy I could save you from going through the same suffering I went through. You're such a smart pup and I can see so many potentials in you as long as you have the right guidance."
She tightened the hug, not letting go of me for a while till I heard Mae and Chloe's voices approaching my room.
"I have to go now. Please lock the door and stay safe." I cupped her face, letting my hand glide through her straight hair.
"You should also stay safe."
"Yes, thank you."
"It's finally our graduation!" Daisy squealed.
The three girls-Daisy, Mae, and Ava- had agreed to sleep over at Daisy's house for the last night as college students which meant Chloe and I also had to comply with their arrangement and that led to the worst sleep of our lives due to unavailability of a bed space for both of us; we had to sleep in uncomfortable sleeping bags and it only made me miss sleeping on Keegan's bed and being in his arms.
"How was last night's sleep?" Chloe asked, stretching.
"Good."
"That's an obvious lie we are both aware of. It was so terrible." She said with a frown. "But I'm glad the girls are happy." She glanced outside the bathroom and saw them still squealing like teenage girls.
I chuckled and started brushing my teeth and she did the same.
They got into their beautiful dresses. It was obviously Mae's idea that they wore a matching black dress that ended just above their knee and had a firm waistline with turtle necklines.
When I was done in the bathroom, they were taking so many photos, I was forced to help them out.
Daisy's Mom called them downstairs, finally releasing me from the burden of taking so many photos of them. I quickly got into a pink dress. Though I hated wearing bright-colored clothes, I was only wearing this one because the other available option was a black dress; it was cute but you had to secure it from behind with straps and I didn't trust strappy clothes anymore after the incident with my swimsuit.
When Chloe was done with wearing her outfit, we headed downstairs and joined Daisy, Mae, and Ava in their continued spree of taking photos. I took a few photos alone and the ones I thought were cute, I texted them to Keegan, eagerly waiting for his response.
When he didn't respond yet, I shoved my phone into a black purse and we left for their graduation.
The party started and it was way more boring than I had expected. My phone chimed and a text from Keegan popped on the screen.
<
> He texted back.
I could feel heat flushing to my cheeks. << Just be calm and think about me. Hopefully, it'll make you smile again.>>
He texted back immediately, << Yes, I know, but I miss your presence. Can't you head back home already? I feel like I'm dying.>>
I almost burst into laughter till I remembered I was surrounded by
people. <
> I kept re-reading his message and it was making me grin from ear to ear.
Chloe nudged my shoulder with a raised eyebrow. "We understand you're going crazy texting your lover man, but try to keep it down, you're almost a tomato."
I smiled at her and decided to pay attention to what was going on still grinning.
The celebration was finally over. I wasn't really paying attention but I know they had thrown their caps above their head and Ava, Daisy, and Mae graduated as honors students and got tags for it.
When they returned, Daisy's and Ava's parents pulled them into tight hugs.
"Congratulations girls." Chloe pulled three of them into a hug as well while they didn't stop making strange noises.
Of course, we started another spree of taking so many photos. When I was tired of taking photos with them, I had my seat and watched them till they finally decided to stop and walked over to me. "Hi girls, I'm leaving today. You know I mentioned that I have to travel out of the country for work?" she said and they nodded. "I'll have to leave today, so Jane won't be able to sleep over at my house tonight." She sighed.
"That's not a problem. She can sleep in Scarlett's parents' house, right? My Mom won't accept you in my house, sorry. She kind of has a hard feeling towards you after you kissing Al- Mr. Keegan, knowing fully well that he's her friend's daughter's boyfriend- that's Scarlett's boyfriend." Ava said.
"The Andersons must hate me so much right now. I won't be able to stay with them either." my eyebrows curled upwards. "Now where am I supposed to stay?"
"You can stay at my house, it's cool with me." Mae shrugged. "Oh yeah, thank you. Chloe and I are definitely sleeping on the bed this time regardless of the bed space." I said and she chuckled. "Actually... I'll be leaving too. I have to head back home from here." Chloe said with a strange uneasiness in her Hazel eyes. "Daisy?" Her Mother called her and she quickly excused herself to head over to her.
"Why are you leaving? So you aren't going back to Dark Stone with me?" That just killed my mood.
"Vladimir would've helped me pack my bags, so I don't have to head back to Dark Stone. Someone from my pack will be coming here to take me home."
"Wow, I'll really miss you." I pulled her into a hug. When I pulled away, her face was very droopy.
"I definitely remember when you looked this sad the day you arrived at Dark Stone and you said you wanted to tell me something before you left." I reminded her.
Her Hazel eyes were wandering around nervously. "I thought you forgot about it, but don't worry, I'll discuss it with you in private."
"I'll be returning to Dark Stone soon. It's time to settle back in the pack." Ava said when we returned from bidding Daisy farewell. "Jane, you'll have to speak to the Alpha about getting me a higher paying job since you're now our luna." she wiggled her brows. "Mae already told you about it?" I wondered.
"She didn't have to. It's on the WolfMe app. I watched the video of the proposal there, it was so sweet. I'm really happy for you."
"What's WolfMe?"
"It's this app that only werewolves can have access to." She explained, opening the door to Mae's house.
"Oh. How do I join it?"
"I'll help you out with that later. Right now, I'm wondering how you're going to deal with that grumpy Alpha."
"Keegan isn't that terrible. He's a sweet person if you have the chance to get to know him better." I defended.
"Ouu, she's defending her sweet mate." Mae teased, and I rolled my eyes at her. She was now in baggy clothes while Chloe was coming from behind her with a small bag in her hand.
"You're leaving now?" I asked Chloe.
"Yes, the person will be here soon. Can we speak outside in private?"
"Sure." Chloe pulled me outside and let out a deep breath. "What I have to say is that you need to be very careful. It seems like Kim had found out that you possessed so much power and wanted to let you know before she was shot.
"Jane, you're a very special werewolf with a special wolf that's very gifted but you'll need to improve your strength to unlock the gift because you'll need it to prepare for whatever might be coming for you."
"What do you mean?"
"Just try to work on improving your strength and finding your true gift, it'll definitely be fine." she hugged me then a man that was here to pick her honked the car for her to head over. "Okay, I have to go now. Bye." She chuckled and scuttled away.
I wondered what Chloe meant by that. What could be coming for me? What gift did I possess? It seemed like it was high time I improved my strength. I couldn't remain weak forever.
