Chapter 61 Chapter 61
~ MAE ~
I've been trying to speak to Casper again but have been unable to. I had no idea about where he lived or how to reach out to him, a very frustrating feeling. Plus, due to lack of proper experience and practice, my mind linking abilities was really poor. I could only properly mind-link the Alpha - not like I was ever going to my sister, Mason, and Ava, and I could also be mind linked by someone else, but for others, it was terrible.
I heaved a sigh and turned the door knob to Crystal's room open, forgetting to knock again.
"Seriously, Mae? You don't know what knocking means?" Crystal scoffed.
"Sorry," I sheepishly apologized and sauntered to her on the bed. "Where's Mason?" I wondered, taking a seat beside her.
"He's in the bathroom." She said and added, " washing his hands."
"Oh, okay."
"I bet you're bored again?" she asked and pointed at a box. "Pass it to me."
"Yes, I'm very bored."
"You're always bored." Mason said as he walked out of the bathroom, drying his hands with a small towel.
"This pack is a bit boring for me." I replied and passed the heavy black box to Crystal, dropping it on the bed.
"It's not. You just haven't resumed your role fully. You will when you graduate." Mason reminded me and walked over to us and held Crystal's shoulders from behind, planting a kiss on her cheek.
She grinned at him and opened the box filled with clinical equipment. She smiled at me and Mason left for his laptop that sat on a paired table and chair not quite far away from us.
"I'm so glad my baby sister is finally graduating." she smiled.
"Me too! And I'm not a child." I rolled my eyes at her.
She chuckled and started arranging the equipment. " You'll always remain one to me. As long as you still don't have the proper capability to think like an adult, your status remains the same for me."
"Ouch. Do you always have to make me feel stupid and immature?" I playfully frowned at her and she chuckled.
"I can't make you feel what you already are. It's just natural."
"Crystal." I rolled my eyes again. "Let's wait and see if you'll still think the same way about me when your child turns out to be just like me." I smirked.
"I reject that!" Mason immediately added and Crystal burst into laughter before he joined her while I huffed and turned away.
"Will both of you ever stop bullying me?" I huffed and they ended their laughter with a chuckle. " Anyway, I still can't get over the excitement that I'll finally be an Aunt. How many months are left? What's its gender?" I grinned, loving the fact that her bump was growing everyday and my future niece or nephew was going to be in my arms very soon.
"If you're this excited to be an Aunt, why are you still so single and not planning your own baby?" Mason joked.
"She's definitely still going to remain single as long as she can't stop falling madly in love with every male she meets."
"I don't fall madly in love with just anyone, only the extremely handsome ones. Gosh! The men in this pack are so damn fucking hot! I thought they'd all be like Mason but I'm glad they disappointed me!" I teased, earning a smack from Crystal. "What? He's like my brother! How can I consider him hot?" I scrunched my nose up in disgust.
Mason only rolled his eyes and returned his gaze to his laptop, typing away on it. "As long as your sister considers me hot and sexy, you can hold on to your blindness."
"You're pained." I burst into laughter but he only rolled his eyes again.
"I missed you and your craziness so much! After your graduation, you're never leaving me again." She pulled me into one of her obsessive tight hugs.
I feigned irritation and pulled away from her, rumpling my face up. "I'm not staying because of you but because of Jane and the other hot dudes here."
"Jane? The omega? You're friends with her?" Crystal asked.
"Yes, I met her at Mrs. Anderson's wedding anniversary party before meeting her here again. She was so lively at the party." I chuckled, remembering her being drunk.
"That's great. She's a very nice girl, I think. Hopefully, she'll help with resetting your brain."
Crystal nodded in approval.
"Seriously? Do you always have to be so mean towards me?" I playfully rolled my eyes at her.
"Okay, I'm done for now." Mason sighed and rose from the chair, walking up to Crystal. "Guess what, sweetheart?" He took the heavy black box from her.
"What?"
"There's this special couple's party coming up, our pack is among the packs to be invited." He dropped the box and sat beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and placed a kiss on her forehead that made her face flush red, as always. "I bought a red gown that's perfect for maternity and would still make you look really amazing. I already ordered it as your perfect size, as well as amazing shoes and jewelry. It'll be delivered here soon."
"Mason," she moaned. "That must've cost you a fortune. You didn't have to buy new things. I still have so many outfits I haven't even worn. "
"Nothing is too expensive for you, and I'm The Gamma of the largest pack, what can't I afford?
Especially when it's for my beautiful mate and my precious little pup that's arriving soon." He rubbed her belly.
"Still... I still have so much already." She pouted, while I groaned.
"Stop being such a good girl, geez!" I rolled my eyes.
"If my mate is the fucking gamma of such a pack, I'll make sure he buys everything I want every single time."
"Shut up, Mae." She wrapped her arms around his neck, gazing into his eyes with so much love for him glistening in her chocolate eyes. "I love you so much, honey." She connected her lips to his, drawing him into a deep and passionate kiss.
"Gosh, you're making me so jealous!" I jumped to my feet. "I have to find who can be mine among these men... so many choices." I was saying as I walked towards the door.
"Mae!" Crystal snapped, making me halt my movement and turn to her.
"What?"
"I know how much you fall in love anyhow and end up breaking your heart, but you should be careful this time. You know this pack is where you'll most likely spend the rest of your life, don't ruin it for yourself again." She warned.
"I'll try my best to, but this time, it's surprisingly just been Alpha Keegan, Casper, and the new Alpha that arrived, Vladimir. My goodness! These guys are so fucking hot!" I exhaled, fluttering my eyes in amusement.
"Mae, stay away from Alpha Vladimir, he's on the bad side; judging from how the Alpha has been acting towards her lately, Alpha Keegan is meant for the omega, they're destined mates and I have a positive feeling that their bond has a bright future, so stay away from these men at all cost." Mason advised. "You think it has a bright future?" Crystal raised her eyebrow at him.
"Definitely!" he nodded.
"New news..." I took a few steps closer to them, twirling my index fingers around each other nervously. "And how about Casper?" I asked with a nervous smile, hoping there wasn't going to be any heartbreaking information about him."
"Casper's a good guy." Crystal shrugged.
"Really?!" relief flushed over me.
"I guess so," Mason shrugged too, "though I don't really know much about his relationship status."
"Do you know where he is right now?" I asked with high hopes.
"He's on a break and the last time I saw him, he was in the garden. I don't know if he'll still be-"
"Thank you!" I cut him off. "I've been searching for him everywhere!"
"Seriously?" Crystal smirked.
I twirled around and sprinted out of the room, ignoring Crystal and Mason laughing at the way I was running.
I ran all the way to the pack garden and my feet came to a halt the moment I saw Casper sitting on the bench. He was gazing at the beautiful varieties of flowers around him without a word, just sitting there and looking so damn handsome.
The wind didn't stop throwing his honey brown hair up in a way that looked even more attractive. He was wearing a black tank top, showing off how blessed he was to have such a muscular build. How can a man be this fucking hot in real life?
He suddenly turned to me like he noticed my presence and waved with a warm smile. The gaze from his beautiful hazel eyes made me feel like being swallowed to the ground for getting caught for staring at him.
"Hi." I waved back, twittering.
"I should've known you were standing there, the flowers started to smell greater when you arrived." He teased, causing deep heat to rush to my cheeks. "Do you mind having a seat?" he tapped on the spot beside him.
I shamefully rushed to sit beside him before he changed his mind and the smirk that appeared on his face at my action caused me to lower my head with an even hotter heat filling my cheeks.
"How are you?" he asked.
"Great! You?" I lifted my gaze to him.
"You look so beautiful when you blush this much." He teased again. His compliment felt like an arrow darted at my heart and made me blush like crazy.
Remembering Mason's words that they had no idea of his relationship status, I asked, "do you have a mate?" when his smirk twisted to a gaze of confusion, I immediately regretted my action. How could I be so stupid to just ask him like that? "I'm sorry for asking, I was just curious." I added and took my gaze from him, fiddling with the hem of my t- shirt.
"That was random, but I don't have one... yet." He replied and that birthed a new form of excitement in me. That was great news for me and my wolf did a short happy dance to know we had a higher chance with him. "The day I found my mate, I followed her scent but could only catch a glimpse of her back view before she left. I ran after her but she was gone. Up till this day, I never met her again."
"That's so sad, and it's very similar to mine. I had found my mate back in my first year in college, but he was human, so I decided to take it slowly and start with friendship, the most stupid decision of my life." I heaved a sigh.
"What happened?" he asked, concern was evident in his voice. "There wasn't enough time to build a relationship with him or explain anything to him and he couldn't understand anything about how strong the mate bond is because he left college and traveled out of the country." Remembering my mistake made tears trickle at the corner of my eyes. "I didn't have his contact and none of his friends could reach out to him as well. I have no idea where he went to, where he is now, and if I'll ever see him, but I missed the chance of finally having my mate. It hurts my soul without every single day and I feel like I'm just here on earth any hopes of ever finding a mate again." Tears rolled down my face and I quickly wiped it off.
"That's so sad. Don't worry, it'll be fine." He pulled me into a hug. His hug was so warm and made me feel like crying even more. I sobbed in his chest as he tightened the hug, it felt so damn good to be hugged by him and my heart was beating faster from being this close to him. Soon enough, the thought of my lost mate washed off my head and the excitement of being in the embrace of this fucking hot dude made excitement fill my soul.
~ JANE ~
Alpha Keegan suddenly walked into the room, interrupting mine and Chloe's laughter over what she had just said.
"Oh," he mouthed. "I'm sorry to interrupt both of you." Our eyes followed him as he walked over to the table to grab his laptop and charger.
"I guess I'll get going now." Chloe rose up from the bed. I didn't want her to leave yet, not at all. "You're clearly having fun with her." He said to me, maintaining his emotionless face. "You both can sleep here tonight. I'll sleep in the guestroom. Hope you enjoy yourself."
"That's great! We surely will!" I grinned, genuinely appreciating his gesture.
It was obvious that he wanted to flash a smile at me but was holding himself back due to Chloe's presence. He took his leave with his laptop and charger while I squealed.
"I know you missed me so much, but your squealings are starting to sound obsessive."
I playfully slapped her shoulder with a roll of my eyes, pulling her back to sit beside me.
"So... with your little revenge on him, how's it going?" she asked.
I glanced at the door to confirm that he wasn't standing there then back at her. "It's going great! I bet I'll get into his head really well." "You still won't give me more details about it?"
"Nope." I shook my head and burst into laughter when she frowned.
"That isn't fair, but I'll respect your decision."
"That's why I love you!" I teased, tickling her.
"Stop it!" she slapped my hand away while I still laughed.
She was gazing ahead and not staring at me when all of a sudden, her face became droopy with her eyebrows creased in worry. "What's wrong?" I asked, holding her shoulder in concern.
She glanced at me for a while, not saying a word and biting her lower lips with her eyes widened in worry.
"Speak to me." She was making me worry even more.
After a while again, she heaved a sigh of defeat. "I won't feel good to keep this from you. Jane, please remind me some other time of the secret I have to reveal to you before I return. It has to do with Kim as well."
"Kim?"
"yes."
My heart began to throb faster as I remembered Kim's traumatizing murder. "What is it?" "I'll let you know later. Let's head to bed." She rose to her feet, wearing a forced smile.
I gazed at her with narrowed eyes but she ignored me and headed to bed and jumped right into it. "Will you stop staring at me like a damn fish? You've gotta seduce your Alpha to make progress. And this time, I have hotter seduction tips..." she trailed off with a smirk.
