Chapter 10 Chapter 10
~ KEEGAN ~
'How is everything in the pack?" I asked Scarlett through mind-link, glad she had the capability to mind link me at a far distance.
'Everything at the pack house is great. I'm training the men and women, increased the number of people on patrol and have added more security guards. There hasn't been any more attack or sign of attack.' 2
'And Maddie who was murdered? How about her family?'
'I made sure to compensate them according to your orders.' 'Great. Good job.'
'It's my duty as the pack's beta. The only issue at the pack house right now is cleaning and cooking. Since the pack house's omega isn't here and most of the weaker werewolves are in training, there's no one to clean the pack house and cook.'
'Hire someone for the meantime.'
'Okay, Alpha.' She paused for a while; I almost thought she had ended the link without my permission till she spoke again, 'By the way, how are you?' her tone changed to a cheerful and suspicious one.
'What is that supposed to mean?'
'Oh, nothing. I'm just asking how you are. How is the Night Shadow pack?'
'Not bad.'
'I was just reflecting on the old days when we played together and all ... when you were a sweet little boy.' She chuckled.
'I'll end this here. Bye.' I ended the mind-link with a scoff. Did she expect me to be a playful little child or something?
My stomach grumbled and I realized I hadn't had anything to eat since this morning. I couldn't exactly trust Vladimir and his pack and wasn't going to eat anything they cooked for me, so this omega had to make my meal.
Speaking of the omega, I wondered why the hell she was getting into mine and my wolf's head. Her scent felt amazing and that bothered the hell out of me. It felt like I could hear or feel her heartbeat whenever she was trembling. I hoped the stupid mate bond wasn't affecting me because I hadn't accepted her rejection? I couldn't bring myself in the mud by accepting the fact that a stupid omega rejected me.
Remembering how embarrassed she had made me feel ignited the fire of rage in me again. I slapped the lamp off the table, clenching my fists. How could such a cheap mutt make me feel useless? Everyone was crazy about me and wanted me as their mate. Even my past mates I had rejected kept crawling back to beg to be my Luna. Of course, who wouldn't want to be the Luna of my pack? Did this stupid omega really thing she was more important than she actually was and I wasn't worth being her mate?
I wanted to punish her till every blood in her body drained in sorrow. She seemed to enjoy being in Night Shadow pack and that was definitely not something I wanted.
I picked the telephone by my bedside table to call an omega of Night Shadow pack to inform my omega that I demanded her presence. I had to keep her busy and exhausted.
It was almost five minutes, yet the omega hadn't arrived here. Was she trying to disobey me again?
I called the omega I now identified as Chloe again.
"Where the fuck is the damn omega?!" I barked.
"Someone already called for her. I'll check up on her."
"Ler her know that if she exceeds 90 seconds before arriving here, I'll fucking burn down her comfort zone till she loses consciousnesses!" I contorted my face.
"Y-Yes, Alpha Keegan. I'll... let her know immediately." She quickly ended the call.
I set a timer for 60 seconds and rose to my feet, pacing around as the timer counted down from 60 seconds. Three minutes passed, but she still hadn't arrived. My arrogant and impatient self became cheesed off as I stormed out of the room.
"What room is my omega in?" I hollered at a random petite lady.
Her eyes widened, clearly shocked from my outburst. "Take a left turn, then the third-"
"Just fucking take me there!" I demanded through gritted teeth.
"Y-yes sir." She bowed and started walking fast, then led me to a door. "The omega should be in this room." She quickly scurried out of sight.
I barged in, staring around till my eyse landed on the person called Chloe.
"Where is the damn omega? How dare she disrespect me again?"
"Uh... Alpha Keegan... I'm also confused. Sh - she was supposed to be here. She isn't anywhere. Now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen her since this morning."
'Isn't she suppose to be with you or something?'
"No-yes. She was, but we-" her eyes widened."Oh my gosh. We had gone on a run then I returned. I don't think I've seen her since then."
"A run? She's wolfless!"
"Yes, but Kim... Kim placed her on her back for the run."
"Who is Kim?" I could feel my veins popping underneath my skin.
"Another omega."
"Where is she?"
"I don't know. I'll check around for her right now." She scurried and leaned her back against the door frame as she passed beside me, like I was going to swallow her' before she dashed out of sight.
'Mason. Head to the pack living room. 'I said to Mason through mind link.
'Okay, Alpha.'
I left for the living room, watching Chloe as she walked into different doors in panic, asking for Kim.
"What's wrong?" Mason asked, stopping beside me.
"Our omega has been missing since the morning and no one noticed."
"Missing?" Vladimir asked, his presence startling me a bit. "How can Jane be missing? Chloe?"
Chloe halted her movement at his voice. "I have no idea. Kim and I wanted to go on a run with Jane till we discovered she doesn't have a wolf. Jane stayed on Kim's back because she wanted to feel how good it was to go on a run. Kim and I separated at the oak tree because I remembered I had to attend to something for Alpha Vladmir while Kim continued running. I was so busy and didn't realize that I haven't seen both of the since then.
"I saw Kim a few hours ago. She had hurt her arm and looked very worried when she left." A young woman behind Chloe said.
"Where did she go?" I frowned at the woman.
'" I have no idea. She didn't say anything."
"Does Jane have a phone or something we can track her with?" Vladimir asked, looking way too worried for 'my' omega.
"No, she doesn't. She's an omega, she has no right to a phone." Mason replied.
"What the heck?'' Vladimir frowned. " Why not?! That makes no sense."
"It's my pack and my rules." I glared at him.
"We separated at the oak tree. We can go there; maybe we'll find something to track them down." Chloe suggested.
"Why are we still standing here then?" Mason wondered.
We followed behind Chloe then headed to the backyard where we switched to our wolves. I followed Chloe's lead to the oak tree.
The moment we got to the oak tree, my nose immediately captured the sweet and familiar strawberry scent and the nice fragrance of rose; it was the Omega's annoying scent. "The omega was here." I informed Mason.
"Where?"
"Follow my lead." I lowered my conk to the ground, following her scent. Though it was fading, I could still pick it due to my higher
smelling sensitivity.
I increased my speed of following the scent. After a while, I noticed blood stains on the wood and ground. Something about seeing the Omega's blood on the tree made me feel an emotion that was almost related to fear.
Her scent was stronger, informing me that she was here a while ago. I increased my pace even more. Drex froze when the omega screamed. We quickly ran in the direction of her scream, watching as a wolf made her fall and rolled her to have her face to it before it jumped on her. From the sour scent that emitted from the wolf, it was evident that it was a rogue.
Drex's blood boiled at the sight of his so-called mate being attacked by a rogue. Without thinking twice, he took control, running to the rogue and pushed it off the omega. The rogue's growl at Drex increased Drex's rage and he snapped the rogue's head off its body.
