Chapter 202 I Feel Terrible
The little brat who'd been negotiating with him with bright sparkling eyes—just a moment ago suddenly wilted.
All listless and droopy.
With a milk mustache on his upper lip, Alex slowly took a bite of the egg white, then put it back on his plate with a frown, putting on a whole "I have no appetite" act.
Then, following Frederick's gaze, his eyes suddenly lit up.
As if he'd just noticed Rebecca was back.
But the brightness lasted only a moment.
Looking at Rebecca, all pitiful, Alex slumped his shoulders, his face clearly saying: I feel terrible!
In an instant, the doubt on Rebecca’s face vanished, replaced by a look of pure concern.
"Still have a fever?"
Touching Alex's forehead, then his cheek, Rebecca affectionately ruffled his hair, "It's okay, getting sick means you're about to grow taller and build up your immune system! Be brave, alright?"
With that, Rebecca pushed the plate away and looked at Frederick with disgust, "You can't eat eggs when you have a fever. Frederick, are you even capable? Have you ever actually taken care of a kid?"
Without waiting for Frederick to answer, Rebecca turned back to Alex, "How about I make you a love sandwich? Want one?"
A love sandwich?
That sounds delicious!
Alex nodded eagerly like a pecking chicken.
Rebecca rolled up her sleeves, pulled things out of the fridge, and grabbed a heart-shaped mold from the cabinet.
Heart-shaped bread slices.
Heart-shaped luncheon meat.
Heart-shaped tomato. Even the lettuce was pressed into a heart shape.
Layer upon layer, a love sandwich made its grand appearance.
"Here you go..."
Handing the love sandwich to Alex, Rebecca smiled, "When you're sick, you need to eat well. After you finish, we'll do puzzles and draw pictures. Stay happy, and you'll get better faster."
Alex nodded with a big smile.
Rebecca She pushed a pile of scraps across the table to Frederick, "Frederick, don't waste food!"
The one faking illness gets a love sandwich!
While he only deserves the scraps?
Frederick looked up at Rebecca, "Becca, even without merit, there's hard work. Is this how you'd treat me?"
Meeting his meaningful gaze, Rebecca froze.
She remembered last night when he gripped her by her waist, bit the soft flesh of her neck, and said viciously: "Becca, I'm the one doing all the work, but you're the one constantly saying you're tired. Does that seem fair to you?"
She wanted to say this would set a bad example for the kid.
She also wanted to say she was just joking with him.
Rebecca was momentarily speechless.
Her phone rang. Rebecca glared at Frederick, remindAlex to eat well and drink his milk. Then she took her phone and headed to the living room
"Rebecca, the grades are out, and you're first in our department again!"
On the other end was Rebecca's professor, Patrick, "I'm calling to ask—there's a private jewelry design exhibition next Tuesday, featuring works from some well-known designers in the industry. Would you like to attend? If yes,, come get an invitation from me!"
These private jewelry exhibitions was for established designers in the industry to exchange design ideas. Attendees were either already famous or had promising futures.
Rebecca figured Patrick was giving her his own invitation.
"Thank you, Patrick, I'd love to go!"
Rebecca looked thrilled.
After lunch, Rebecca took Alex by the hand into the car, and Frederick drove straight to Empire University.
While Frederick and Alex stared at each other in boredom in the car, Rebecca knocked and entered Patrick's office, receiving two invitations from him.
At Rebecca's confused look, Patrick said casually, "Give the other one to Jessica."
Rebecca paused, then nodded, "Okay."
