Chapter 105 Helping Frederick
"Um, Becca..."
Melissa looked at Rebecca and asked carefully, "Did you hear Alex call Mr. Windsor 'Dad'?"
Rebecca shook her head.
Melissa asked again, "Then how did you know about Alex's mom?"
"I don't know."
Rebecca looked innocent. "I don't know, that's why I asked you."
Melissa fell silent.
She wanted to tell her the truth so she wouldn't keep guessing and feel unsettled, which might affect her relationship with Frederick.
But just as the words were about to come out, Melissa suddenly held back. "So, what did Mr. Windsor say?"
"I haven't asked him yet."
Rebecca shook her head with a dejected expression. "I don't know how to bring it up. I'm afraid he'll remember something unpleasant from the past, and it'll affect his mood. And I'm also afraid..."
"Afraid he'll dwell on the past?"
Cutting in with that remark and watching Rebecca nod eagerly in agreement, Melissa felt incredibly glad she hadn't spoken too quickly.
Looking back at Frederick, she couldn't help but smile to herself.
At previous gatherings, Ethan and the others used to tease him about reading too much and being completely uninterested in romance.
Who would have thought he actually had quite a sense of humor?
Making up stories that sounded so real, fooling Rebecca completely.
Either way, Frederick and Rebecca were already married, and he'd brought her into their circle, which meant he'd accepted her.
Melissa decided to help him out.
"Becca, this matter... It's really hard to talk about."
Melissa said with a troubled expression, "Anyway, Alex's mom was pretty heartless. When she left back then, it was so quick and decisive that, caught everyone off guard. Mr. Windsor, he... well, it's all in the past, let's not bring it up. Just remember, you're the woman he properly married and brought home. You're Mrs. Windsor!"
Rebecca looked confused.
She heard it, but didn't really understand.
She just wanted to know why Frederick didn't end up with Alex's mom.
And where did Alex's mom go, and why was she heartless enough to abandon even Alex?
But after all that talking, Melissa not only didn't get to the point, but left her even more confused.
Rebecca fell silent.
"Becca..."
When she heard Frederick calling her, Rebecca turned around to see Frederick waving at her. "Come here!"
Rebecca obediently walked over. Frederick stood up and pressed her into the sofa. "Play a couple rounds for me."
"So it's true - lucky in love, unlucky at cards. Mr. Windsor, are you really going to the bathroom, or are you using Rebecca to change your luck?"
"Rebecca, it's okay if you don't know how. Just play, however! If you win, it's your spending money. If you lose, it's on Frederick. Be bold, don't worry!"
Rebecca quickly picked up her tiles.
Peter raised an eyebrow. "Looking at Rebecca's moves, she seems like she knows how to play!"
Benjamin was skeptical. "That's impossible, right? Rebecca clearly doesn't know how to play."
Rebecca looked at her tiles without saying anything.
Behind her, Melissa laughed brightly and boldly. "No wonder Mr. Windsor fell for you - this luck is really something else!"
The group didn't understand what she meant.
Frederick, who had left and come back, looked at Rebecca's tiles, and his eyes showed amusement.
