Her Responsibilities
Her Responsibilities
Theo’s P.O.V.
“Alpha Hunter has called a meeting after breakfast to discuss Rhea’s visits to other packs.” I stopped punching as soon as I heard Rhea’s name and looked at him in confusion.
“She will be gone for more than three months, as she needs to stay in each pack for at least 3 weeks, and there are more than five packs who want her to go there and give their warriors a special training session of three weeks,” he explained and my breath hitched.
“This is not happening, Nathan. Rhea can’t go,” I immediately yelled and stormed towards the benches while unstrapping my hands.
I needed to talk to Rhea. How could she leave that long?
I stopped abruptly when Nathan held my shoulder from behind.
“She is on patrol duty this morning. She will be back by breakfast,” he told me with a grim expression on his face.
I was now highly annoyed by her so many patrol duties.
“Why is she given so many patrol duties? Are we short of staff or something like that?” I asked him angrily, putting my hands on my hips in the process.
He sighed and rubbed his forehead as if he was having a headache right now.
I still waited for him to answer my question. I was gone for four years, but he was here.
“In the past three years, she has been assigned to so much work because of her capabilities and efficiencies, Theo. She is so capable that even I and Natalie work under her so that we can be trained well before I take over the beta position,” he told me and I just listened to him, clenching my jaw to suppress my anger.
“So, we are not in the position to question her decision. She did everything to keep herself busy all the time, Theo, and no one, not even your father, questions her,” he replied further, and my eyes widened in shock.
"She is basically running our security department here, helping Luna Emily in so many Luna's duties, and also working as your father's P.A., helping him to run the business smoothly." He recounted her duties briefly in a very calm voice, and I just listened to him dumbfounded.
“Hey, guys… you are early today.” I huffed and walked away from Nathan while running my fingers through my hair, processing what Nathan told me.
"You are late, Natalie. This is the fifth time in two weeks that you have been late for morning training, Natalie. Are you really this interested in getting punishment?” Nathan said to his twin sister, both angry and annoyed.
“Oh please, Nathan. Don’t give me the crap about her rules. She has no personal life. It doesn’t mean that all of us have to sacrifice ours.” Natalie retorted, disdain evident in her voice for whoever was responsible for training attendance.
“You know what, Natalie? I don’t know what Rhea did wrong to you, but I am done with you. I really feel sorry for your mate.” I immediately spun on my heel as soon as I heard him talking about Rhea.
“Rhea? Is she responsible for training attendance?” I asked him, hurriedly walking towards him.
“Yeah… Ca you imagine, Theo?” Natalie was the one who replied sarcastically and asked me with disdain still evident in her voice.
“I don’t know what spell she has cast on our parents that they think so highly of her, that worthless, wolf-less omega whor.” Natalie spat, voicing her true hatred towards Rhea.
The next second, my hand grabbed her by her neck and lifted her up. Everyone around us froze. I knew because I could feel their shock.
Natalie immediately clawed my hand, her eyes bulging out in shock and panic.
“Theo… wh.. what are you doing?” She yelled, thrashing her body in the air, trying to remove my fingers from her neck.
“Say one more word in her disrespect, and I will rip your head off, Natalie. You are questioning my father’s experience and intelligence here. Do you think you are above him?” I roared at her, and she trembled hard, stopped thrashing her body, and looked at me in bewilderment.
I threw her high in the air when Nathan grabbed my arm.
She screamed aloud but I looked at Nathan, ready to punch him because he allowed his sister to call a pack member cursed like this.
“I…. I apologize on her behalf, Alpha.” Nathan bowed his head in front of me in submission.
“She speaks like this to her?” I asked Nathan without masking my fury.
I knew it was suffocating him and all the other trainees here, but how dare they treat my mate like this?
Even if she weren’t my mate, this is not the way they should, especially a beta wolf, treat their fellow packmate like this.
“No, Alpha. Natalie is wishful like this only behind her back,” Nathan answered me truthfully, still showing his neck in submission.
I looked at Natalie who was now slowly rising from the ground by leaning on the wall behind her.
She was now looking at me fearfully, but it didn’t give me any satisfaction.
Natalie was not someone who learns from her mistakes. We were of the same age, but our mothers had spoiled Natalie to rotten.
“I heard that a team of unmated wolves are about to go to the other packs in search of their mates?” I asked Nathan, moving my gaze back to Nathan who still had his head hanging low in front of me.
“Yes, Alpha. They will in three days.” He informed me and I scoffed internally.
“If Natalie is not in that list, put her name on that list and send her out to find her mate. She is now of age to find her mate,” I instructed him, and walked towards the benches.
I had no desire to train more now.
“What? No…. you are supposed to choose me as your chosen mate at your coming birthday, Alpha.” Natalie yelled aloud, and I stopped in my tracks.
I blinked harder while processing what she just said. Knight, who was still sleeping at the back of my mind, surfaced with a force that made me feel dizzy for a few seconds.
I slowly moved towards her, my eyes burning in rage now.
“What did you say?” I asked her, pressing every word while gritting my teeth.
She gulped hard and slowly craned her neck, showing her submission to me.
“I.. I heard our mothers talki…. Talking about us the other day, Alpha. Luna Emily …. Is worried about you, a… and expressed her desire to… to have me as your chosen mate if… if you don’t find your fated mate b.. by this birthday,” she explained, stuttering hard in fear, her body still trembling.
