Needed To Get Out
Needed To Get Out
Rhea’s P.O.V.
“I will send your dinner to your room, Rhea, if you don’t want to come down,” Alpha Hunter suggested through mind-link, sounding worried for me.
The alpha couple is like a second parent figure to the pack members, and in my case, they really are.
“Thank you, Alpha. I appreciate it.” I sincerely thanked him for thinking about my well-being through mind-link.
“You are always my daughter, Rhea. You don’t need to thank me,” he replied, indulgence and sadness both evident in his voice.
We closed the mind-link and I slowly opened my eyes, staring at the roof over me with a blank gaze.
“I don’t know why you are still hesitating. Give me one chance, okay? Only one chance, and he will never bother us again,” Moon muttered angrily, sneering and snorting while pacing at the back of my mind.
“He is still the alpha, Moon. Just forget it and let’s live our life in peace.” I persuaded her one more time in a tired voice.
She sneered immediately while looking at me with a mocking gaze.
“You really think that he will let you go this easily when he is all determined to make you accept him?”
I knew what she said was right, but I had my own ways to get out of this situation.
“You want to leave your home because of a jerk,” she still scolded me, clearly disappointed with my decision.
“This is not our home anymore, Moon. Who is here whom we call a family? And without a proper rejection, we can’t find our second mate. So, tell me. What do we have here?” I asked her, feeling both frustrated and tired.
“I have you and you have me,” she retorted, her voice low and sad.
I wanted to say something nasty but paused.
She wasn’t wrong. We still had each other, but Theo’s presence around me all the time was getting on my nerves now.
Especially what Knight did this afternoon. The mate bond which was almost negligible between us was now stronger.
I needed to get out of here. I can’t stay around Theo without being affected by the mate bond.
I sighed and slowly got up from the bed when I felt someone coming towards my room.
I slowly walked to the door and let the other person knock first.
Apart from Alpha Hunter and Beta Nate, no one knows that I can identify any wolf by his or her scent from afar.
I slowly opened the door and passed a tight smile to Beta Nate, who was standing at the door with a food tray.
“May I?” he asked for permission softly.
“Of course, Beta Nate,” I replied respectfully and opened the door widely. He was a burly man with a tall figure.
“The Moon Shadow Pack requested for your visit. I am sure that you know about this, right?” he asked me without beating around a bush while walking inside the room.
I closed the door with a faint smile on my lips.
“Yes, Beta Nate. I am aware of that. Not only The Moon Shadow, but also, we got requests from five more packs.” I told him what else I knew before he talked about them.
“What are you thinking about them?” he asked me while putting the food tray at the foot of my bed.
I was sure that he now knew about me and Theo. I was glad that he didn’t ask me directly.
“I am thinking about considering their requests, Beta Nate. It’s time for us to review the security details, and these visits will provide us enough data to help us create a new security device.” I told him what I had in my mind truthfully.
I was now standing behind him.
He raised his brows in surprise, moving towards me. So now we were face-to-face with each other.
“But it also means that you will be gone for more than three months, Rhea.” He told me a rough idea of the total length of my stay outside the pack.
“I am aware of that, Beta Nate.” I answered briefly while gesturing for him to have a seat. I wasn’t in the mood to eat quickly, but I wanted to get out of the pack as soon as possible. He took the chair and looked at me calmly.
“You have an important place in our security department, Rhea. Going out for more than three months…. I don’t think it will be a good idea.” He replied with a concern.
I nodded to him in response while pursing my lips into a thin line.
“I am aware of that, Beta Nate, but this is also the time for Beta Nathan and Natalie to take over my position. You know that it’s always temporary.” I reminded him about the arrangement between me and Alpha Hunter.
Both Nathan and Natalie were capable betas, but Alpha Hunter and Beta Nate wanted to groom them more for the future, and that’s why, instead of working on a higher position, they made them work under me.
It was weird because I was not only younger than them but also inferior to them.
Still, I was glad that they always gave me the respect that I never expected from them and even worked under my command so many times.
“You are avoiding Theo.” He called my bluff directly. I stiffened, but it was reality.
“I simply want to have a peaceful life, Beta Nate.” I replied, neither admitting nor refusing his point.
“And it’s not like that I am going out of the planet. I will be back at any time whenever the pack will need me. After all, this is my home,” I added with a shrug of my shoulders, but for some unknown reason, I felt a sharp pain in my chest.
“You are right. Let’s have a proper conversation with others too after morning training tomorrow.” He suggested while standing up.
“Sure, Beta Nate.” I replied with a soft bow, and he sighed while pursing his lips tightly and walked towards the door.
I followed him to the door with small steps, trying to stay calm.
“Good night, Rhea.” He bid the farewell after exiting the room.
“Good night, Beta Nate.” I also bid the farewell in a proper manner before closing the door.
I knew what he did. By including everyone, he conveyed the message indirectly that it won’t be that easy when Theo is also back.
“Another nasty encounter. Goddess! Save me.” Moon continued her dramatics after a long silence, but it only made me roll my eyes.
