Chapter 50

VIVIAN

I was quiet for a while, unsure of how to respond to her question. She had asked me why I needed to know the truth about her past, and I realized that I didn't have a valid reason. At least, not one that I could articulate.

But as I sat there, trying to gather my thoughts, I knew that it was important for me to know the truth.

"I don't know," I said finally, looking up at her. "I just feel like I need to know. Like there's something important here that I'm missing."

She nodded, her expression understanding. "I see," she said. "Well, I suppose I can tell you. But you have to promise me one thing."

"Anything," I said, eager to hear her story.

"You have to promise me that you will not tell anybody about this," she said. "Can you do that? And I am trusting you because grandfather has said a lot about you "

I nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation. "I promise," I said. "I'll listen with an open mind."

She nodded, taking a deep breath. "I was raised by my grandfather," she said. "I didn't get to see my parents, but he gave me this picture."

She handed me the picture again, and I took it, studying it carefully. There was something about the woman's smile that seemed familiar, but I couldn't quite place it.

"So you didn't try to find out about your parents?" I asked, looking up at her.

She shook her head. "No, I didn't. Grandfather always told me that it was better if I didn't know. That it was safer for me to just forget about them and move on with my life."

I frowned, feeling a sense of unease. What could be so bad that she had to forget about her own parents?

"But didn't you ever wonder?" I asked. "Didn't you ever want to know who they were and why they left you?"

She nodded, her eyes clouding over. "Of course I wondered," she said. "I wondered all the time. But grandfather was always so secretive, so mysterious. I didn't know what to believe."

I leaned forward, my heart pounding with excitement. "Tell me more," I said. "Tell me everything."

She took a deep breath, and began to speak. "Grandfather always told me that my parents were dead," she said. "That they had died in a car accident when I was just a baby. But as I got older, I started to realize that he was hiding something from me."

I pressed on, my curiosity getting the better of me. "You're a lawyer, you couldn't even investigate?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral.

She shifted uncomfortably in her seat, her eyes darting around the room. "It's not that simple," she said finally.

"Since your grandfather raised you, he must have left something for you," I added, my mind racing with possibilities.

The lawyer became silent, her eyes fixed on mine.

I smiled, trying to put her at ease. "You don't have to tell me anything," I said. "But I do have one piece of advice for you. Take down this picture from your office."

She looked curious, her eyes snapping back to mine. "Why?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I leaned forward, my voice low. "I dont know but just to be on a safer side, you have been in hiding all this while, nobody knows he raised you not even Kian I am sure, and I know he hid it from everyone to keep you safe. You will be safe once you do that," I said, my eyes locked on hers.

"Thank you," she said, her voice filled with gratitude.

"And my name is Louis," she added, with a bright smile on her face.

I nodded.

"This should be between us," I said, my eyes locked on hers.

She nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation.

I smiled, and with that, I walked away.

I walked back to my car, my mind racing with questions. Who is Louis, really?

I got into my car and started the engine, then I drove off.

I drove back into the Blackwood mansion, my heart racing with anticipation. But as I approached the gate, I was stopped once again by the guards.

"I'm sorry, miss," one of them said, his expression firm. "You're not allowed in. It's Mrs. Blackwood's order."

I sighed, frustration building up inside me. But before I could say anything, a sleek black car pulled up behind me. The window rolled down, revealing Kian's chiseled face.

"You're back," he said, his voice cool and detached. But his eyes sparkled with a hint of warmth, and I felt my heart skip a beat.

He looked so sexy in his black suit, like a mafia heir, and for a moment, I forgot about the danger and intrigue surrounding us.

But I had to put all that aside. I nodded, trying to sound calm. "Yeah, but they won't let me in. They said it's your mother's order."

Kian's expression darkened, and he stepped out of the car. "I'll handle this," he said, his voice low and menacing.

He walked up to the guards, his eyes flashing with anger. "Let her in," he growled. "Now."

The guards hesitated, then stepped aside, allowing me to pass. Kian turned to me, his eyes burning with intensity.

"Come with me," he said, his voice low and urgent.

I dropped the keys with the guards and walked in with Kian

“Let go of my hands” I said.

He faced me “Are you sure you can do this alone?” he said his faced filled with concern

I smiled “you watch me” I pulled back my hands from his grip and carried my bags from the car, he offered to help but I turned him down.

“I can handle it myself” I said and walked away, but I turned back to him. “Do not leave this mansion just because its mine, never go off my sight” I added with a little smile on my face.

Kian’s smile grew wider, his eyes crinkling at the corners “your wish is my command ma’am” he said his voice low and husky.

I felt a flutter in my chest and with a smile I walked away.
