Chapter 41
VIVIAN’S POV
It was a very cold morning, I should start the day with a
warm tea, I checked my phone and saw Kian’s text, I smiled and opened the
windows wider.
I walked downstairs so I could do the neccessary chores.
I heard the door bell ring and I hurried to open it, it
could be my father, as I opened it I saw Martha.
"I won't be able to open the door wide because you
aren't Welcome here" I said
She smiled
"Do not see Kian again" she warned
"You dont have to warn me, talk to Kian not me , I am
not the problem here" I replied.
Martha's smile grew wider, and she took a step closer to me.
"but I feel like you are the main problem here, have some manners will
you? Kian is going to be a father soon cant you just let him be? ," she
said, her voice dripping with malice. "You're the one who's been
manipulating Kian, turning him against his own family."
I rolled my eyes, feeling a sense of frustration.
"That's not true, and you know it," I said. "Kian is an adult,
and he can make his own decisions. He doesn't need you or me telling him what
to do."
Martha's face twisted with anger, and she raised her hand,
as if to strike me. But then, she seemed to think better of it, and her hand
dropped back to her side.
"Fine," she spat. Martha's eyes narrowed, and she took another
step closer to me. "And also, if you really cherish yourself, do not show
up in the mansion again. " she hissed, before turning and storming off.
I watched her go, feeling a sense of relief. I knew that
Martha was a formidable opponent.
I slammed the door and sighed, feeling a sense of liberation
wash over me. "This will be very interesting," I said to myself, my
smile growing wider. I rushed back upstairs, eager to start my day.
I opened my wardrobe and scanned the rows of clothes,
searching for the perfect outfit. My eyes landed on a beautiful blue short
gown, and I knew it was the one. I picked it up, feeling the soft fabric
between my fingers.
Next, I grabbed a black bag and a pair of black heels,
completing my look. I admired myself in the mirror, feeling confident and
stylish.
I walked straight to my car, feeling the warm sun on my
skin. I hopped in, starting the engine and pulling out of the driveway.
I walked into the coffee shop, my heart beating slightly
faster with anticipation. I didn't know why Kian wanted to meet me, but I knew
it was something worth it. As I scanned the room, my eyes landed on him,
sitting at a table by the window. He looked even more handsome than I
remembered, dressed in a black suit with his sleeves rolled up, revealing his
toned forearms. The gold watch on his wrist caught the light, adding a touch of
sophistication to his already-chiseled features.
He stood up as I approached, his eyes locking onto mine with
an intensity that made my skin prickle. "You look beautiful," he
said, his deep voice sending a shiver down my spine.
I felt a blush rise to my cheeks as I sat down across from
him. "Thanks," I replied, trying to sound casual despite the
butterflies in my stomach.
As we sat there, our eyes seemed to hold a conversation of
their own. I couldn't help but notice the way his eyes crinkled at the corners
as he smiled, or the way his hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck.
"So, what's this about Kian?" I asked, trying to
break the spell.
Kian leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving mine.
"I wanted to talk to you about something," he said, his voice low and
mysterious. "Something important."
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What is it?"
As we sipped our coffee, Kian's expression turned serious.
"Don't come to the mansion," he said, his voice low and cautious.
"I'm afraid my mom and Mira are going to say some weird things to
you."
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Are you worried about
me?" I asked, smiling playfully.
Kian's eyes narrowed, his gaze intense. "Yeah a little,"
he admitted. "My mom can be... you know how she is ."
I laughed, feeling a thrill of excitement. "Do not
worry about me, I can handle it," I said confidently. “I am going to be
there because I am respecting grandfather Edward nothing more”.
Kian nodded, his eyes locked on mine. I could sense he had
more to say to me, but he wouldn't speak out.
I smiled, trying to reassure him. "It's okay, Kian. You
can trust me."
He looked away, his jaw clenched. "I know. It's
just...complicated."
I nodded understandingly. "I get it. Family can be
tough."
Kian's eyes snapped back to mine, a hint of surprise in
them. "Viv... what about us?"
I leaned back on the chair
"Kian, there's no us for now," I said, my voice
firm but gentle. "You have a lot to solve. Mira's pregnancy, the will, you
can't let Julian have that company. If he does, a lot is at risk here."
Kian's eyes dropped, his jaw clenched in frustration.
"I know," he said, his voice low and rough. "But being around
you...it's the only time I feel like I can breathe."
I smiled sadly. "I know how you feel, but we can't
afford to get distracted. Not now."
Kian nodded.
I took a step closer, my hand reaching out to touch his arm.
"I am going nowhere," I said.
"But first, you need to focus on your family and the company. Can you do
that?"
Kian looked up, his eyes searching mine. "Yeah,"
he said finally.
I nodded, feeling a sense of determination. "Good.
Let's get to work then."
As we stood there, I could feel the weight of Kian's
responsibilities settling onto his shoulders. But I knew he was strong enough
to handle it. He had to be.
