Chapter 394: Thalia's Foot Kicked William Under the Blanket

Chapter 394: Thalia's Foot Kicked William Under the Blanket

"Mr. Brown, it's Eileen who came."

In the vintage restaurant at 78 Maple Avenue, William picked up the kettle and poured himself a glass of water.

Hearing Finn's words, he showed no surprise at all. Instead, his face remained calm as he took a sip of water, his slender fingers tapping the glass.

Finn understood and pressed a switch somewhere. A highly private screen closed between the inner room and the dining area.

When Eileen entered wearing an emerald green dress and an expensive pearl necklace, the screen had just closed.

Seeing Finn, she looked somewhat displeased. "Where's William?"

"Mrs. Jimenez, if I remember correctly, our appointment was with Michael."

Only if Michael came would he be qualified to see William. Otherwise, forget it.

"I came all this way, you can't just let me come for nothing, right?"

Finn smiled without saying a word.

Eileen continued, "William is here, isn't he?"

"Mrs. Jimenez, we're not exactly good people. It's best not to use morality to manipulate each other, because no one can say for sure how much conscience anyone has left in the end."

"The rules are set. Since you want to climb up, who we meet and who we talk to is decided by us, not you. You should accept the respect the Brown family gives you. Otherwise, next time, we can't guarantee Mr. Jimenez will be able to get out of his hospital bed."

"Be careful not to get caught in your own schemes."

"Someone, show her out."

"You Browns really all have sharp tongues. I'm afraid no one can get any advantage from you."

"Well, ordinary people wouldn't be shameless enough to come looking for trouble!" Finn watched as Eileen was escorted out.

Watching the restaurant door close.

Eileen was shown out, her anger having nowhere to vent. "Call Michael and tell him to come back."

Stefan could tell from the situation that this didn't work out. Well, if it had worked, it wouldn't be the William he knew.

When Michael received Stefan's call, he was playing tennis with Henry, sweating it out.

After hanging up, Henry lifted the net and walked over. "What did they say?"

"Told me to go back to the Jimenez Mansion."

"Did they say what it was about?"

"My grandmother went to see William but didn't get to."

Henry was a bit worried. "Calling you back at a time like this, you're not going back to get scolded, are you?"

"Can I not go?" Michael asked with a smile, handing his racket to Henry. "I'm going to take a shower, then head towards to the hospital."

As soon as Michael entered the hospital suite, Stefan and Eileen's conversation stopped abruptly.

"Grandma."

"Come in."

"How's Grandpa?"

"You still care about your grandfather? I thought you didn't acknowledge him anymore." Eileen had nowhere to vent the anger she suffered at the Browns', and now that Michael was here, it was perfect timing.

"Tell me honestly, what's your relationship with William? Why would he specifically ask to see you?"

Michael was startled. William actually asked to see him?

Why?

Could it be that his pulling Thalia into the situation was discovered?

And William was retaliating against him?

If that was really the case, did it indirectly prove that Thalia and William's relationship was indeed unusual?

"No relationship. I've been in Emerald City for a long time and haven't even met Mr. Brown once."

"Really?" Eileen didn't believe it, but everyone around her said the same thing, so she had to believe it.

"Really."

..........

"Mr. Brown, Mrs. Brown is back."

"Something happened?" William could tell at a glance that Fallon's expression wasn't right as soon as he got home.

Fallon took William's coat. "Mrs. Brown doesn't seem well. She won't say what's wrong, just went upstairs as soon as she got back."

William's expression changed. Hearing that Thalia wasn't well, he couldn't even stand still and hurried upstairs.

He looked from the study to the living room and saw no one, confirming she was in the bedroom.

As soon as he entered, he saw a lump in the middle of the big bed.

Thalia was curled up in a small ball under the covers.

The silly cat was sleeping spread-eagle beside her.

William walked over and touched her forehead - no fever.

Then he began pulling back her covers and checking under her nightgown.

"William, are you planning to play some kind of sleep assault game?"

"You're awake? Where don't you feel well?"

"Where don't I feel well?" Thalia had slept for about forty minutes and wasn't in deep sleep when William woke her up.

If she didn't know she was at Mistwood Hill, she would have definitely slapped him.

"Fallon said you weren't feeling well."

"I'm just tired."

"Filming is tiring?"

"Yeah! Today I filmed several physically demanding scenes, climbed to the twenty-first floor five times in high heels."

William asked, "Is someone making things difficult for you, or is this in the script?"

"It's in the script."

"Would the director even include this kind of scene? Wouldn't filming one or two clips be enough?"

"The director wanted that state of being exhausted and barely hanging on."

As Thalia spoke, she turned over, wanting to pet the cat.

The silly cat wouldn't let her pet it, got up, stretched, and moved to sleep on the chaise lounge.

Thalia kicked at William under the covers, saying nothing, but William understood.

He went over, picked up the cat, and stuffed it into Thalia's covers.

"Did you take a bath?"

"I did."

"Stick out your legs." The man's tone was gentle, soft with a faint tea fragrance wafting over, making Thalia feel much better.

When his warm palms moved over her calves, she wanted to sigh with comfort.

"There's a bottle of yellow oil by the bathtub, get it. Don't just dry rub."

"So demanding." Though William complained, his feet didn't stop moving. When he came back, he was holding a towel, looking just like a professional massage therapist.

"Did you see Michael today?"

"No, as you said, Eileen won't easily let Michael come to see me."

"Eileen definitely won't want to. She's schemed her whole life to pave the way for her eldest grandson. But you want to pull Michael into the game, which means all the paths she paved before will be disrupted and have to be redone."

"And Michael looks obedient on the surface, but is actually uncontrollable. She definitely won't let herself be in this kind of unstable situation."

"Ow ow ow, lighter."

Thalia had been getting drowsy from the massage.

But William pressed hard once, which woke her right up.

"No, my leg is cramping."

"It hurts!"

William was a bit flustered by Thalia's sudden condition. Unable to handle it himself, he pressed the intercom to have Fallon come up.
