Chapter 393 Killing Two Birds with One Stone
Harper was startled by the sound of a cup being smashed behind the door. She pushed it open and went in to give Eileen another scolding. "What? Embarrassed and angry now? You dare to do it but won't own up to it, or do you have the guts to do it but not the guts to let people talk about it? You don't really think the Jimenez family has become so powerful that everyone has to watch their words when mentioning you, do you?"
"Old homewrecker!"
Eileen cursed, "Bitch, you're simply unfit to be a teacher."
"For all your supposed excellence, I don't see you raising anything good. Your son has been mediocre his whole life and can't compare to his stepdaughter. Now look, your two grandsons combined aren't as capable as William. Someone like you - it's bad enough you're ruining your own family's kids." Harper finished speaking and closed the door, not giving Eileen a chance to curse back.
"Aren't you afraid that provoking her like this will make her really go after Amara?"
As soon as Harper came out, the dean, who had been standing at the door listening to the whole thing, felt very worried.
He was really concerned that Eileen might get so angry from that long tirade that she'd die in his office.
Then he'd really be in trouble.
"What can she do to Amara when Amara hasn't done anything wrong?"
The dean spoke earnestly. Having sat in this position for a very long time, he always felt it was better to avoid trouble. "It's bad for Amara's reputation."
At such a young age, if she still wanted to achieve anything in medicine in this lifetime, she had to care about these things.
A young person shouldn't have her abilities ruined by her reputation.
"Can this bit of reputation keep her comfortable for life, make her successful, or make her live longer?"
"Keep this good reputation to serve others? I can support her even if she never works a day in her life."
The dean replied, "Fine, I spoke out of turn. Stop scolding me here, go check on Amara."
When Harper arrived at the police station, she saw Amara lying on a bench meant for two people, playing with her phone.
Looking carefree and comfortable beyond belief.
"Where'd you get the blanket and power bank?"
Amara sat up from the bench when she heard Harper's voice. "Thalia brought them."
"She came over so early in the morning?"
"Yeah."
"Look at you causing trouble and worrying so many people."
Listening to Harper's words, Amara wondered why she seemed so angry. It felt like the next step would be slapping her across the face.
She thought about it−had she irritated Harper by lying down and playing with her phone?
Or was Harper irritated when she rushed over all worried only to find Amara so happy?
"Did I upset you?"
"I don't think so! I didn't even go home last night. I was at the police station, so I couldn't have upset you, right?"
Whatever, Harper had just finished scolding someone, and her anger hadn't subsided yet. She originally wanted to lecture Amara a bit, but thinking about how pitiful this child was, she held back.
"Did they specifically ask for you by name last night?"
"Not really. They came to the ER, and the dean pulled me in. But when I saw Stefan, I guessed they might try something, so I kept my guard up."
"What guard?"
"I prepared all the medicine under surveillance cameras, took photos when I was done, and went to the security room to copy the footage."
"Where's the stuff?"
"Sent it to William."
"Not too stupid then."
Amara snorted proudly, a bit smug. "Of course not, I'm your own daughter!"
At the Celestia Group, William looked at the video Amara sent. Finn stood in front of him, saying, "The materials have been reviewed by professionals, no problems. Angelina has already gone to the police station to pick her up."
"What about Harper?"
"She gave Eileen a good scolding. Got Eileen so angry she had to take blood pressure medication and oxygen in the dean's office."
The man raised an eyebrow, looking at Finn with some surprise.
But the surprise passed quickly.
That was something Harper would do.
Harper, Amara, and Thalia together could blow up the earth.
"Contact Michael, arrange a meeting with him."
Finn was a bit confused, looking at William with some surprise. "Michael has the least say in the Jimenez family. Why would you want to meet with him..."
"Prop up the most insignificant person and let him fight internally. We can get everything we want without lifting a finger."
"Kill two birds with one stone."
"I understand."
That afternoon, Stefan was at the hospital taking care of Steven, who had just woken up.
When Steven saw he was in the hospital, his mood was a bit complicated. "Just you here?"
"Mrs. Jimenez is here too, she just stepped out."
Stefan used a cotton swab to moisten Steven's lips, somewhat puzzled. "You've always kept it under control. The doctor said as long as you take your medicine on time, there shouldn't be major problems. How did you suddenly have an episode?"
"Forgot to take my medicine."
Forgot?
Impossible. Steven valued his life more than anyone. How could he forget something that involved risking his life?
Combined with what Eileen did to Amara after entering the hospital, it could only mean this was all part of their plan.
Clearly, he deliberately didn't take his medicine, using his own body to create an opportunity.
Was this Steven's idea? Or Eileen's?
"Don't forget again. No matter what, your health comes first."
"Mm, your phone's ringing."
Stefan looked at the unknown number on his phone and answered. Finn's voice came through. "Stefan, this is Finn, Mr. Brown's assistant. Mr. Brown asked me to tell you - tonight at nine, 78 Maple Avenue. The Jimenez family can send Michael to meet with him."
"Michael?" Stefan was shocked and quickly pulled the phone from his ear and put it on speaker.
"Did Mr. Brown get the name wrong?"
"Mr. Brown said Michael. Besides him, he doesn't want to see anyone else."
"But..."
"Goodbye." Finn didn't give them a chance to say "but."
Stefan stood in the hospital room holding his phone, looking at Eileen, who had just pushed the door open.
"Who did William say he wants to see?"
"Michael."
"Impossible," Eileen refused without a second thought.
All of the Jimenez family's affairs were kept from Michael. He had no idea about their schemes, and the Jimenezes couldn't let him know. Now, William wanted to see Michael - wasn't this sowing discord?
Trying to pull Michael out to disrupt the Jimenez family?
