Chapter 395 Do You Dare to Cheat?
"How many days did you film? Why are you off again?"
When Evelyn returned to the office at noon, she saw Thalia sprawled on her office sofa, looking completely zoned out. Every pore of her body seemed to radiate laziness.
Back when she was filming, it was normal to not see her for a month or two. But now? Why did she need to come out and wander around every few days like this?
Was being a female celebrity really that easy, though?
"I worked five night shoots to earn these two days off. What are you jealous about?"
Thalia got up without even washing her face, put on a hat and mask, and had John drive her there. She had originally planned to catch up on sleep at home these few days, but as soon as William left, she started having dreams—dreams where seventeen or eighteen different versions of William were chasing after her.
Chasing her just to shower her with love!
Did she really lack love?
Forget it. If she kept sleeping, she'd end up arguing with William in her dreams.
"Let's go! It's spa time."
"Evelyn, you're the best."
Hearing Thalia speak so confidently, Evelyn understood. "Did Mr. Brown upset you?"
"No!"
"Then where's this insight coming from?"
"When you reach a certain age, you start to understand life."
Evelyn was speechless.
"Ms. Smith, Mr. Brown seems to be checking your travel records to Canyon Town from over the years." John walked over to Thalia with a worried expression as soon as he saw her come downstairs.
He didn't want to mention it, but he was worried that if Thalia found out later, she'd never let it go.
If he told her, he worried the couple would end up fighting.
"Let him check!" Unexpectedly, Thalia remained very calm, showing no extra emotion. "What can he find out anyway?"
"Why is William checking up on you?" Evelyn asked, puzzled. If he really wanted to investigate, he should have done it before they got married! What's the point of checking now?
"He's afraid I'm cheating!"
Evelyn was stunned for a moment. "You dare to cheat?"
Thalia said coldly, "Shut up!"
When Thalia and Evelyn entered the spa, they saw Eleanor coming out, standing next to an official's wife.
Although Thalia hadn't really crossed paths with her before, she still had a vague impression of her.
When Eleanor saw her, a flicker of emotion flashed in her eyes.
Evelyn introduced her to Thalia. "Eleanor's really unfortunate! Who knows when she'll finish cleaning up the Mitchell family's mess? I heard Elowen went crazy again recently."
All of Eleanor's exhausting efforts to butter people up and drink at business dinners couldn't make up for even one of Elowen's tantrums.
"I heard you and Ms. Smith share the same father?"
"Yes," Eleanor didn't seem to avoid the topic at all.
The other person looked somewhat surprised. "I thought you'd deny it."
"There's nothing to deny. We can't choose our birth—that's one thing. Also, we should respect the dead, so some things don't need to be said."
"Ms. Mitchell, how graceful."
Eleanor simply smiled without saying anything. Anyone asking about her relationship with Thalia at this time was clearly looking for gossip.
Saying more would only give people more to talk about.
Eleanor saw the person off and was about to leave when she heard a whistle behind her.
She turned around to look.
She saw Thalia standing by the elevator with a wide grin.
"Ms. Mitchell, busy?"
"Let's hang out!"
"You're working so hard to please people—does Elowen know? You're out here working so hard while Elowen's at home spending freely. Aren't you tired?"
"Every time you see me, you give the same speech. Aren't you tired?"
"Not at all!" Thalia said with an indifferent shrug. "I'm poking at your sore spot, not my own. Why would I be tired?"
Thalia glanced behind Eleanor. "Since we share a father, I'll point you in the right direction. This official's wife won't be able to meet any of your needs."
Eleanor frowned, looking at Thalia as if she wanted to say something.
Thalia spoke again. "Everyone in the circle knows her husband already has another woman on the side. The woman on the side is the one handling everything at home, big and small, including taking care of the elderly. This wife in name only is merely for show."
At Thalia's words, Eleanor's face darkened. "Thanks for the tip."
"You really should thank me. After all, Elowen seems quite close to his mistress."
After parting with Thalia, Eleanor got into her car and laughed bitterly.
Sure enough, family members were always the ones who held you back.
When Thalia came out of the spa, she felt refreshed.
She stretched and was about to get into the pink car.
Just as she opened the door, a black BMW cut in front of her. Michael rolled down the window and looked at Thalia with a cheeky grin.
"Michael, what's up?"
"I want to bond with you a bit."
"If you want to bond with me, then I definitely have to go. I can't afford to offend the future head of the Jimenez family." Thalia said sarcastically to Michael.
Michael smiled, but it was clearly insincere.
"In a bit, I'll get out, and you take a picture of us in the car, making it look as intimate as possible."
"Intimate? Aren't you afraid Mr. Brown will kill you?"
"Afraid? Do you think I'm the type to get scared?"
Evelyn could only stare, speechless.
Along the river in Emerald City, there was no shortage of two kinds of places: spots for rich people to eat, drink, and have fun, and coffee shops.
Thalia took Michael to a coffee shop. Inside, there was a small bridge that connected to boats on the river. As they walked further in, it opened up to a whole new world. The boats were separated by water, providing excellent privacy.
"Ms. Smith, you really know how to pick places!"
"If you want it, I'll buy it and give it to you." Thalia said.
"I can't accept gifts without earning them first."
"Dragging me down counts as earning it!" Thalia shot back sarcastically as she lifted the curtain to enter the boat cabin.
The staff inside already recognized Thalia—she was clearly a regular here.
"Ms. Smith, the usual?"
"The usual."
