Chapter 114 Getting Scolded by Thalia, He Does Have Some Skills
"You know, this whole Aurora Tower thing is getting really interesting."
As Thalia and William left the parking garage, a black Mercedes nearby had its door pushed open.
Nora stepped out of the car wearing a designer suit, with Andrew in a baseball cap beside her.
If Linda hadn't told them Emma was out and had booked the bar on Aurora Tower's second floor today, they wouldn't have shown up here. And if they hadn't come, they wouldn't have witnessed that scene just now - Thalia was actually pregnant with William's child.
How interesting.
Thalia's wholesome girl-next-door image in the entertainment industry was about to crumble.
She couldn't wait to see how Thalia's male fans would react.
Andrew gazed in the direction Thalia had left, his eyes darkening.
He strode toward the elevator.
In the elevator, he noticed Nora texting something on her phone: "You're not tipping off the media, are you?"
"What? Don't you want to see her completely ruined?"
Andrew paused: "We didn't come here today for Thalia."
Nora responded: "I didn't say it was about her!"
She put away her phone and headed to the bar, searching around but not seeing Emma anywhere. She grabbed a random server: "Is Ms. Wood here?"
The server looked at her: "Ms. Wood left a while ago."
"She left?"
"Yes."
Nora's expression darkened. Just her luck... she never got to be part of anything good.
Back in the car, Nora started calling Linda. Whatever Linda said made her stop cursing.
"Linda told me to tell you that the Wood family and the Smith family are enemies now. Emma is your devoted fan, and she'll definitely come looking for you after she gets out. If you still want to make a comeback in the entertainment industry, you need to seize this opportunity."
Andrew took a deep breath: "I know."
Nora was about to say more when a message came through on her phone, cutting her off.
She picked it up and glanced at it, before she could even start scrolling.
She was stunned. Where did the trending topic go?
It was gone?
.........
William returned to the Brown Villa. He had just managed to calm Vaughn down and convince him not to do anything rash.
He hadn't even made it downstairs when he heard Amara shouting from below, phone in hand: "William, Facebook's trending topics are saying Thalia is pregnant and you're going to be a dad?"
William nearly choked: "Creating a child out of thin air?"
Amara walked over with her phone and handed it to him: "Look."
When William saw the trending topic, he knew this was bad. If Thalia didn't come to him to fix this, he wouldn't believe it.
"Could it be that Thalia is pregnant and you don't know about it? I've been reading a lot of romance novels lately, and those leading ladies - rich, gorgeous, great bodies - their favorite thing to do is find a guy with good genes, then keep the baby but ditch the father. Do you think... Thalia would do something like that?"
William didn't need to think about it - he knew Thalia was capable of it. Thalia, who was always at the forefront of fashion, what couldn't she do? Besides, keeping the baby but ditching the father was extremely common in real life.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Harper heard Amara's words and scolded her.
"Mom, don't you think it's perfectly normal?"
"It's not normal. William wouldn't get into this kind of situation. Shut up."
Amara glanced at William, thinking to herself that the probability of this happening to him was over a hundred percent. With that mouth of his - criticizing everything and everyone, not gentle, not considerate, and scheming on top of it all.
Someone as proud as Thalia would either find an obedient man to make her happy, or find someone more capable than her to protect her.
William... forget it, he didn't stand a chance.
"William..."
Before Amara could finish, William's phone rang. He glanced at the name on the screen, not really wanting to answer, knowing he'd just get yelled at.
"William, answer it!"
"So I can get yelled at?" William said helplessly.
"If Ms. Smith yells at you, that's your blessing!" Amara said with a smile, cheerfully tapping the answer button for him.
As soon as the call connected, Thalia asked William in a relatively calm manner: "You choose! Either you take down that trending topic for me, or starting today, the first thing I do every morning is pray that your son is born without an asshole."
William was very sensible and said after a pause: "I choose option one."
William ended the call, pushed aside Amara who was blocking his way, and nodded to Harper: "I'm heading back now."
Seeing William come out, Finn hurried over: "Mr. Brown, the trending topic is down."
"Find out which media outlet it was."
"Shining Entertainment."
"Send them a lawyer's letter!" For making Thalia yell at him, they had some nerve.
These clueless people were the root cause of his miserable life.
"Mom, what did I tell you? William does listen to what Thalia says."
"Thalia will be William's wife sooner or later."
Amara said proudly.
She had made a bet with people in her department.
She couldn't lose!
If she lost, she'd put laxatives in William's cup every day.
The next day, Thalia scheduled a meeting with a lawyer.
Before leaving, Thalia deliberately chose a fitted suit that showed off her perfect figure.
Her long hair was casually pinned up, giving her the elegant air of a refined socialite.
When Thalia arrived at the law firm, they had been waiting for a while.
When Dashiell Blackwell saw Thalia, a flash of amazement crossed his eyes.
The title of Emerald City's number one beauty was truly well-deserved.
"Ms. Smith."
"Dashiell," Thalia greeted him politely.
Dashiell glanced at Thalia and teased with a light smile: "Looks like yesterday's trending topic was fake."
Thalia set her bag on the nearby sofa and said with a slight smile: "If the rumors were true, I'd have five kids by now."
Dashiell chuckled: "When Elon mentioned Ms. Smith to me, actually, I was reluctant to take the case. The Smith family's case is far too complex. Although Ms. Smith is offering generous compensation, for us, it's not worth it. Taking the Smith family's case means offending many big shots in Emerald City, which would essentially cut off the firm's income."
"What does this have to do with Emerald City's big shots?"
"The Smith family's assets involve all kinds of industries. If Ms. Smith has no interest in running the company and just wants to divide the assets, that means consolidating the Smith family's holdings. And consolidating assets will inevitably cause major disruptions. Ms. Smith understands what I mean, right?"
Dashiell's words made Thalia's heart sink, but she maintained her composure: "Just say it straight, Dashiell."
"Mr. Brown would be your best choice."
William again? Was there no one else in Emerald City who could take the Smith family's case?
"Why?" Thalia frowned slightly.
"Ms. Smith may not know this, but Mr. Smith was able to secure his position as number one in Emerald City's business world because he had his methods. And in all of Emerald City, currently the only lawyer with an undefeated record is Mr. Brown."
Thalia took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
She tried hard to calm this frustrating emotion.
