Chapter 66

Chapter 66
Alyssia

The minute I hang up with Annabel is the moment I feel like I can actually breathe again. My original goal of doing a girls day still fresh within me. That need to do something other than sit here, inside a big mansion a little daunting.

Zac giving me the all clear to leave the house so long as I honored his wish. Take Mia with. Mia pretty cool once you got to know her. And for those few brief times I interacted with her, had really showed. Mia silent yet present unless being directly spoken to, otherwise she hung in the shadows until needed.

My thoughts soon interrupted. “Everything okay?” Blinking, I slowly shift my focus over to the person who spoke, only to see Mia. Mia dressed in casual street clothes as per requested by me. Another simple request and one that Zac honored.

“Yeah, just thinking on where to go with Annabel. We’re planning a girl’s day.”

“Girl’s day?”

“Yeah. A day to just be us. You know, shop, eat, gossip. The usual.”

Mia now silent. Almost like she never did that type of stuff. A realization a bit startling. My curiosity getting the better of me. “Mia, have you never done something like that?” Mia’s silence still present. The silence all the confirmation I needed until Mia speaks again.

“No. But I don’t do things like that either.”

“No?”

“No. I spend my free time doing other things rather than gossip and shop.”

“Oh…”

The tone in which she speaks a clear sign she didn’t but doesn’t scold me for it either. A piece of me happy. “Now then, if your ready for your girl’s day, then please let us go.”

Nodding, I quickly grab my things before following Mia out towards the car. Excitement bubbling within me, and for the awesome time I’d spend with Annabel. My fingers already texting Zac in letting him know. That need to tell him a bit helpful, so he didn’t have to worry.

~ 45 Minutes Later ~

“OMG…” squeals Annabel as we enter the first store we see. Mia great at driving. Mia and I having both picked up Annabel not even 10 minutes after we left the house before taking another 35 minutes to get us to where we currently were. A small boutique called Starlight.

My eyes wide when looking at all the beautiful things. The clothing absolutely amazing and so were the dresses. The dresses all bright and airy and gave you that whimsical feeling. My eyes quick in spotting a dress I liked and made an instant beeline towards it. Annabel close behind me.

“Whatcha see?”

“This. Isn’t it beautiful?” I whisper, my fingers touching the dress. The dress buttery soft like silk but wasn’t.

“Totally. You should totally try it on and let me see it.”

“What? No. I couldn’t. It’s got to be expensive.”

Annabel ready to protest when a new voice reaches our ears. “Ladies, how may I help you? My name’s Nia and I’m one of the salespeople working here today. What brings you lovely ladies to Starlight?”

Annabel and I both quick to turn. The woman, now known as Nia, currently standing beside us. The woman tall. Possibly 5’8 maybe 5’9 while sporting lovely black hair and killer blue eyes. Nia currently in a black blazer and skirt and a pair of black heels. Her appearance chic. Like somebody belonged where she worked.

The previous comment from Zac’s mom still echoing within me. ‘Not his type.’ My eyes still studying the woman, and I begin to wonder if Nia was Zac’s type. An ache beginning to form between my chest plate even as I silently scold myself for thinking such things.

Stop it. He’s already told you his mom was totally wrong. That we’re completely his type.

My mind now working on ways to make me doubt Zac’s love. Annabel the first one to speak. “Yeah. My friend and I would like to try on dresses please.” Her tone firm but clipped. Annabel not one to hold back when speaking her mind, especially to those who were considered rude.

Nia just nodding. Her face neutral. “Of course… please, follow me. I’ll be happy to select gowns for you.”

Heat soon coating my face and a wave of embarrassment then rises. The way Nia spoke almost rude and completely unkind. A piece of me wishing I had a spine and could tell her where to shove it like Annabel. Mia the next one to speak. Her own voice firm.

“That isn’t how you speak to somebody whose a paying customer. Apologize now or Mr. Hunter will hear of this and believe me, you don’t want him mad. Especially with how your treating his girl.”

At the mention of that, do I suddenly shudder. The memories of the night before and every other night a constant reminder of him openly claiming me. His need to remind me daily at who I was and who claimed me just a small, tiny reminder. The other being me carrying his child. A child who laid deep inside me as I lay a hand along my belly.

Zac. My Zac.

Heat rising again, except it wasn’t along my face. No, it was along my core. My center. My pussy wanting his touch. Yet before anyone can speak again does another voice reach our ears. An eerie, familiar voice and one I hadn’t heard since the hospital visit. My body frozen as we all turn towards the person who entered. My eyes wide.

“Please, Zac couldn’t do anything. He’s nothing but a simple college professor. He couldn’t hurt a fly even if his life depended on it.”

“M-Mrs. Hunter.”

My voice soft when speaking. A part of me not ready to face her after the restaurant. Yet after hearing how she addressed Zac, did a piece of me wonder if he was secretly hiding that information. While Mrs. Hunter, otherwise known as Samantha, just simply looks. Her eyes locked on us while clutching a hand full of bags. Samantha clearly shopping. Yet, the shock of seeing her isn’t the only thing that greets me. It’s the fact she’s hanging with somebody else I knew.

“Mom?”

My own mother now standing beside her. A scowl resting along her face. “You little whore. Your father and I allow you to attend college only to learn your failing and pregnant with another man's child? Mr. Lane is clearly not pleased.”

Upon hearing that does my body suddenly freeze. No. He promised to keep it a secret. Fear suddenly rising at the thought of Lyra’s father ratting me out. Of Mr. Lane telling my parents. My mother soon making a beeline over to me. Her hand soon lashing out only to grip me along the arm.

“LOOK AT YOU!” she screams while squeezing my arm. The grip tight. “Our only daughter a whore. Tell me…. Whose child is it. TELL ME.” Her rage clearly present.

A rage so harsh it leaves me speechless. Annabel fuming. Annabel ready to snap. “NOW YOU LISTEN HERE YOU OLD BAT! ALYSSIA DOESN’T ANSWER TO YOU. NOT ANYMORE.”

My mother clearly not pleased as she then turns to Annabel. “Quiet. Nobody asked you. Your nothing but a bad influence.” Her tone clipped as she then takes her free hand and shoves Annabel back.

Annabel quick to stumble before falling on her ass. Mia about ready to act when a stern look from mom causes her to freeze. Mom holding that slight edge to her. The one she typically kept hidden until she was ready to strike. Her eyes back on mine.

“Again… Who knocked you up?”

“I did. And I don’t take kindly to other people touching my property. Especially the mother of my unborn child. Now back off or else I’ll gladly show you what this college professor can really do.”

Zac’s mother along with mine both clearly frowning when hearing Zac’s voice. Both clearly not pleased with seeing him. My mom soon holding his gaze before slowly letting me go. Her eyes back on mine. “Your father will hear of this and when he does, we’ll find a way to punish you.”

My mother’s famous last words before she and Zac’s mom both leave the shop. Sam, who I clearly didn’t see before now rushing for Annabel. Zac slowly approaching me. “How?” is all I clearly ask.

A/N: Hey guys, here’s 66. Hope you enjoy. Again, hoping to stick to 1 chapter a day if possible as chapter 70 is leading towards suspenseful and I’m trying not to rush it.
