Chapter 66

Annabel

~ A Few Days Later ~

If somebody had told me that one day I’d find myself a drop dead gorgeous man, who also happened to be a billionaire of a multi-billion dollar company, whose job was high tech security, I probably would have laughed and called you crazy.

Yet here I was.

My eyes gazing around Sam’s home like it magically became mine. Sam bringing me here after the night within the restaurant and Zac’s crazy mother. The after glow of the news gone and Alyssia leaving more nervous than happy.

Sam currently within his office typing upon his computer, thus, giving me the time needed to explore my new surroundings. My own parents hardly home most days so me living with Sam didn’t seem to change in how I felt towards him in general.

My love for him still present. Still there. Just more constant instead of weekends and the occasional nights in which I’d come over to his modest 1 bedroom apartment. An apartment he long since vacated to move us into our new home.

My phone soon buzzing beside me, and it’s then I turn to see who only to smile when noticing Alyssia’s name. Alyssia MIA the last few days in order to decompress, or at least, that’s what Zac said when calling to update Sam and I, hence, me learning about the billionaire part.

“Hello? And thank you for calling the hot mess express,” I chime, upon answering the phone. Alyssia giggling.

“Your such a dork.”

“True, but a cute dork.”

“True.”

Pausing, I slowly wait for her to continue but when she doesn’t, do I decide to speak up myself. “Hey, is everything okay? You don’t normally call me unless it’s to make plans or gossip about boys.”

Another wave of giggles soon rising. “Well duh.. who else would I be calling. Certainly not Brian or Lyra.”

At the mention of them do I suddenly wince. Alyssia right about that. Lyra a complete bitch when she wanted to be, and her need to take whatever made Alyssia happy, always made me angry. Especially Brian and his sudden need to claim her, even though she broke up with him many of times.

Alyssia’s voice now reaching my ears. “Any who…. Zac says I can leave the house, but I have to bring Mia along with. So, with that said, I was wondering if you wanted to do something fun?”

Fun? Like what? That three letter word was my jam. My own voice quick in answering her back.

“Uh duh…. Fun’s my middle name.”

“No it’s not and you know it.”

The two of us now giggling. “Well, it should be. I mean, I am the life of the party whenever we’re together. Without me, your life would be completely boring, and you know it.”

Alyssia quick to pause and it’s then, I begin wondering if I said something I shouldn’t of. My mind racing in trying to figure it out. My mind attempting to find something, anything, that I could possibly use to get her to speak. Yet, before I do, does Alyssia finally speak.

“Hey Annabel?”

“Yeah, what’s up?”

Concern suddenly rising. That need to make sure she’s fine more important to me than anything else within that moment. Her happiness more important than my own, which clearly said a lot. The two of us like two peas in a pod. Always joined at the hip. Even for as long as I could remember, we were always together.

Alyssia pausing again before brushing it off. Her voice back before I could push. “Do you think… Do you truly think that what Zac’s mom said was actually right? That I’m really not his type? And I’m only holding him back from what he truly wants??”

“Wait, what? Whoa, back the truck up. Girl, your still hung up about that?? What did Zac say about it? I mean, didn’t you two talk about it. Because between you and me, your totally his type. And I’ll say it however long I need to in order for you to believe it.”

Alyssia just sighing before continuing. “He told me his mom was completely wrong, and I’m 1000 percent his type.”

“See, there you go. Even Zac thinks your worth every cent of his time. His love and affection.”

Alyssia just sighing again and it’s then, I think of the perfect thing to do. A shopping spree. Sam having given me a little black card with my own personal name to it and basically told me I could shop for whatever I wanted. A smirk rising when finally speaking.

“Girl, no more pity party. You and I are going on a shopping spree. We need a day to ourselves; Mia included and have a girls day. No guys. No drama. No nothing except us.”

Silence soon my only answer. A silence that makes me think Alyssia was thinking about declining and tell me no. But if I knew her like I did, I knew she needed the day. A day to just be her and completely unwind and decompress without any more drama.

“Okay… I’ll tell daddy and Mia, and we’ll be on our way over. Okay.”

“Perfect. I’ll see you both soon.”

“See you then.”

And with that said, we both hang up the phone before I silently sigh. Alyssia my only true friend within this world, yet even she could be her own worst enemy at times. Granted, I knew it had something to do with her parents, and what they did to her as a kid, I just didn’t know what, because she never said.

A rich, deep voice soon reaching my ears. A voice that has me pausing only to see Sam. My Sam. His eyes hidden behind a mask of hunger and lust. “Making plans there sweetheart?”

“Yep, you know it. And based on her tone of voice and concern, she really needs a girls day out.”

Sam simply nodding before making his way over to me. His hand holding something small. “Here, take this then. But only use it if something terrible happens, kay.”

Blinking, I slowly take the object that was given to me, before slowly taking a look. “What is it?”

“GPS. In case something happens or you get lost. You can then use that to notify me, and I can then use it to track you.”

My eyes simply blinking. A small silver pin now resting along my hand. The pin normal looking, yet, deep inside sat one of Sam’s super computers. A computer that’s designed to track regardless of where you or he was.

“Thanks,” I say. My fingers slipping on the pin. Sam just smiling. “But.. I don’t think we’ll actually need it though.”

Sam now frowning. “Never say never baby. You’ll never know whose out there until reaching your destination and I’d rather be sane in knowing your safe then go crazy when searching for you.”
