Chapter 67
Chapter 67
Zac
~ 45 Minutes Prior ~
It’s barely been 45 minutes since Alyssia had left with Mia in order to have her girls day with Annabel. Mia under strict rules on telling me where they go. Mia texting me earlier in which she tells me they stopped at a little boutique called Starlight.
A small boutique just outside of town. The drive to and from about 45 minutes depending on who drove. Sam currently here beside me as we take that time to go over tactics. That need to protect Alyssia and our child my main top concern, at least, until the child was born and we handled all the loose ends. Or at least that’s what we were trying to do.
My phone soon pinging with an incoming message. Audio. My eye arching a brow as I carefully turn to Sam who simply just shrugs. My curiosity rising when I notice it’s Mia. Huh, interesting. Curious as to what she sent do I move to open the audio only to freeze.
“That isn’t how you speak to somebody who’s a paying customer. Apologize now or Mr. Hunter will hear of this and believe me, you don’t want him mad. Especially with how your treating his girl.”
Frowning, I turn to Sam whose already working on tapping into Starlight’s security feed. Sam top tier when it came to security. Sam the CEO of Midnight Security. Sam easily hacking the system only to pause, a frown rising. “Dude, you better see this.”
Pausing, I set the phone aside and turn my focus over to Sam. Sam angling his computer as he begins showing me footage. The footage of Alyssia, Annabel and Mia. Each of them focused on the lady who stood before them, possibly a sales representative.
“Can you tap into the audio too?”
“Already a head of you.”
Sam quick to open the audio and what we hear next instantly has me seething. “Please, Zac couldn’t do anything. He’s nothing but a simple college professor. He couldn’t hurt a fly even if his life depended on it.”
My blood now cold. Mom. What the fuck was she doing there. My eyes still on the footage when I suddenly notice another. Another woman who I hadn’t yet seen. Her voice equally pissed. “You little whore. Your father and I allow you to attend college only to learn your failing and pregnant with another man’s child? Mr. Lane is clearly not pleased.”
Mr. Lane? Fuck Lane. I don’t give a damn what he thought. Lane had zero say on what happened to MY girl. Alyssia mine. ALL MINE. And the fact that this woman, now clearly Alyssia’s mother, had something to say about her condition, could bring the concern over to me. Not her. My eyes hard when speaking to Sam.
“Send this over to my phone. We need to go. NOW.”
“On it. You handle the video. I’ll drive.”
Nodding, it’s all I can do without flying off the rails. My own mother was tag-teaming Alyssia with the help of her own mom. Her mom clearly a physical woman as I’m forced to watch her grab Alyssia by the arm and shove Annabel. A piece of me hoping that Sam didn’t see. Sam also protective of her. Annabel his, and whether they knew it or not, both would soon become ours permanently. Sam and I both planning to propose and marry them.
Hold on baby, daddies coming. Just hold on. My mind set as Sam races for Starlight.
~ Starlight ~
The moment Sam and I reach Starlight is the moment I race from the car once parked. Having just witness everything prior that I waste no time in running into the shop. The phone long forgotten. My body bursting between the door when I hear the words, “Again… Who knocked you up?” My jaw clenched before finally speaking. Sam standing beside me.
“I did. And I don’t take kindly to other people touching my property. Especially the mother of my unborn child. Now back off or else I’ll gladly show you what this college professor can really do.”
My rage beginning to rise. The nerve of these two.
My eyes still locked upon my own mother and Ayssia’s. Neither pleased at seeing me there, yet I couldn’t care less. The only person I cared about was Alyssia and our child. My mother and her “friend” finally taking the hint before leaving the shop. Alyssia’s mom giving her one final threat. “Your father will hear of this and when he does, we’ll find a way to punish you.”
The hell you will. Nobody and I mean nobody was touching my girl. Not now, not ever. And if anyone did, they best believe I’ll burn down everything to ensure she’s safe. My body still tense until the pair finally leave. Only then do I move to check on her. Sam checking on Annabel.
Alyssia soon breaking the silence. “How?”
My eyes quick in locking with hers. “Sam. But mostly because of Mia. She started sending me audio feed. Those clips are what brought Sam and I to you.” Her eyes still on mine even as she chews her bottom lip. A habit she had only when nervous. My hand quick in cupping her face, while my thumb worked on freeing her lip.
“Stop baby. Your safe, I promise. My mother and yours can’t hurt you, not while I’m here.”
“But… you don’t understand. My mother will do everything within her power to ensure I’m dropped from the school. She’ll do everything she can to make sure Lyra’s father gets me.”
A low, dangerous growl soon rising upon hearing the words. To hell they will. My tone sharp when speaking again. “The HELL she will. Your mine. MINE.” My hand now cupping her belly. “Correction, your both mine. And I don’t care what Lane wants. If he so much as DARES come after my family, then he better think twice. The same for our own families.”
“But… what about school?”
“To fuck with school. As of now, you and I will no longer be going. Besides, it’s high time I took back my company from Ariele.” Alyssia just silent. As if weighing my words.
“Look baby, if school’s that important to you, I can always enroll you and Annabel in online classes, but for now, until everything blows over, I don’t want you anywhere near campus. Not while you carry my child. Plus, you don’t need the added worry.”
Alyssia’s eyes soon narrowing. Her hormones often chaotic when something rubs her the wrong way. An assumption I’m right about when she finally let’s loose. “WORRY? HOW’S THAT RELEVANT ZAC? UNTIL I’M FREE OF MY PARENTS, BRIAN, LYRA, LANE AND HENDRICKS, I’LL ALWAYS WORRY. AND THE PEOPLE I HATE MOST ARE THE ONES MAKING MY LIFE HELL.”
Tears soon rising along her face and all I’m able to do is wrap my arms around her gently and hold her close. Alyssia clinging to me as she continues to cry. My mind working double time to help lessen the burden she carried.
