Chapter 56

After a few hours, Reyna checked her phone again. There was no news from Aryan. She felt restless. Maybe she should prepare something more special to welcome Aryan home. Reyna got up from the sofa and headed to the kitchen. She took some additional ingredients to make a simple dessert—chocolate pudding. She wanted to give Aryan a sweet surprise after a long day.

While stirring the pudding mixture, Reyna remembered when they celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Aryan took her to a fancy restaurant and gave her a very meaningful gift. She felt lucky to have Aryan in her life. Her husband was someone who always supported and loved her unconditionally.

After the pudding was done, Reyna put it in the refrigerator to cool. She returned to the living room and waited patiently. The clock showed nine at night, and her stomach started to growl. Reyna tried to hold back her hunger, hoping that Aryan would come home soon.

Finally, the sound of the key turning in the door made Reyna's heart beat faster. She ran to the door and opened it. Aryan stood there, his suit slightly wrinkled and his face tired, but his smile still radiated happiness.

“I’m sorry, honey. The meeting took longer than I expected,” Aryan said as he hugged Reyna tightly.

“It’s okay. I’ve prepared dinner for us,” Reyna replied, trying to hide the lingering disappointment.

They both sat at the dining table, and Reyna served the spaghetti she had prepared. Aryan looked like he was really enjoying his meal, and Reyna was happy to see her husband eating so heartily. After finishing eating, Reyna took out a chocolate pudding from the fridge.

“This is for you, a sweet surprise after dinner,” she said with a smile.

Aryan looked surprised and happy. “You know I really like chocolate pudding! Thank you, honey.”

They enjoyed the pudding while talking about their day. Aryan told about a new project at his office, while Reyna shared stories about activities at home. A warm and laughing atmosphere filled their living room.

After dinner, Aryan pulled Reyna to the sofa and hugged her. “I’m so lucky to have you in my life,” he said softly.

Reyna smiled, but her smile soon faded as nausea hit her. “Yuck, yuck. Go away!” she exclaimed, covering her mouth with her palm. She felt uncomfortable being near Aryan, her husband. Aryan’s scent, which was usually pleasant, now felt disturbing to her.

Aryan, who saw the sudden change in Reyna’s face, immediately frowned. He remembered very well that Reyna didn’t like the smell of his body since she was pregnant. “Sorry, honey. I’m going to take a quick shower,” Aryan said in a soft tone, trying to understand Reyna’s feelings.

Reyna nodded, although her nausea had not completely subsided. She felt guilty for not being able to enjoy the little moments with Aryan like before. Pregnancy did bring many changes, both physical and emotional.

After Aryan went to the bathroom, Reyna sat on the couch, trying to calm herself down. She thought about all the things that had changed in her life. This pregnancy was something she had dreamed of, but sometimes, she felt trapped in unexpected discomfort.

After a few minutes, Aryan returned with a fresh scent of soap. Reyna felt a little better, but the nausea still haunted her. "How about we go for a short walk?" Aryan asked, trying to lighten the mood.

Reyna shook her head. "I'm not sure I can last long outside," she replied softly. She knew Aryan wanted to spend time with her, but his condition made it difficult for her to enjoy the activities they usually did together.

Aryan sat down beside Reyna, holding her hand. "We can do whatever you want. I'm here for you," he said sincerely. Reyna felt warm in her heart hearing his words. She knew Aryan always tried to support her, even though she felt helpless at times.

After a while, Reyna decided to lie down. "Maybe I need a break," she said. Aryan nodded and helped her lie down gently. He then sat down beside her, making sure Reyna felt comfortable.

In the comfortable silence, Reyna began to reflect on their journey. She knew that this pregnancy was the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, although it was full of challenges. With Aryan's support, she was sure she could get through it all.

“Thank you for being here,” Reyna whispered, looking at Aryan lovingly. Aryan smiled, “Forever, honey. We’ll get through this together.”

Aryan woke up with a start when he heard Reyna’s voice calling out to him. In the darkness of the night, he saw his wife’s pale, pained face. Without thinking, he immediately got out of bed and ran to Reyna’s side.

“What’s wrong, honey?” he asked worriedly, holding Reyna’s cold hand.

“My stomach… hurts so bad,” Reyna groaned, trying to hold back the increasing pain. “I feel like I’m having really bad cramps.”

Aryan felt his heart tremble hearing Reyna's complaints. He knew how strong Reyna was, and if she was complaining like this, something must be wrong. He quickly put on his clothes and grabbed his car keys that were lying on the bedside table.

"Hang in there, Reyna. We're going to the hospital soon," he said, trying to calm his wife down. He carefully picked Reyna up and carried her to the car. On the way, Aryan continued to try to distract Reyna by talking about happy things, even though his heart was filled with anxiety.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Aryan immediately took Reyna to the emergency department. The nurses and doctors responded quickly, taking Reyna to the examination room. Aryan could only wait outside, feeling his heart beating faster. He prayed silently that everything would be okay.

After what felt like an eternity, a doctor came out and approached him. "Reyna's husband?" he asked. Aryan nodded, trying to hold back the anxiety that was eating away at his heart.

“Reyna is having quite severe stomach cramps. We need to do some further tests to find out the cause. However, we will immediately provide the necessary treatment,” the doctor explained.

Aryan breathed a sigh of relief, although worry still clouded his mind. He hoped Reyna would recover soon and be able to return home healthy. After a while, he was allowed to come in and accompany Reyna who was now lying in a hospital bed with an IV attached to her hand.

“Honey, I’m here,” he said softly, holding Reyna’s hand. “You’ll be fine.”

Reyna smiled weakly, although her eyes still showed pain. “I’m scared, Aryan. What happened to me?”

“Don’t worry. We’ll find out soon,” Aryan replied, trying to encourage her. “You’re strong, Reyna. We’ll get through this together.”
