Chapter 61 Declan’s POV

Chapter 61 Declan’s POV
Declan’s POV

I had everything structured in my head, and I just had to find a way to execute my plans. I sighed and stood up, immediately walking towards the window.

I didn’t just go there to look I was trying to examine the city. Especially the people that we were moving around like ants while others are so busy with their lives.

That was how she was making everything look so easy in her sight. She didn’t know how easy it was going to be for me to change the whole narrative.

I was going to change her reputation and make it very fragile in my hands.

The very moment it breaks, it is never going to come back again. I will make sure that she is destroyed and will not see any other option but to run back to me.

June actually had no idea what was coming her way. I smiled and then went back to my desk and picked up my phone.

Without hesitation, I quickly dialed Whitney’s number. “Whitney,” I said as soon as she answered. “Come to my office.”

She didn’t ask questions. She never did.

A few minutes later after I had dropped the call, I heard a knock on my door.

“Come in,” I responded immediately.

Whitney stepped inside, closing the door behind her. She looked as composed as always, with perfect hair, perfect smile, and perfect posture.

I just don’t know why people didn’t see her like that. Most especially June. She still believes that Whitney collected everything from her, even though they were cousins.

But I had never seen it like that, I always see Whitney as somebody who stepped in because June was not capable of doing what she was supposed to do.

I looked at her carefully and noticed there was something completely off about her. She was trying so hard to force a smile on her face. I could still see the differences that were there.

I wanted to ask, but I just found a way to ignore it. That was the perfect option that came out of my head.

“Sit,” I said, gesturing to the chair.

She did, crossing her legs neatly. “You sounded serious.”

Of course, I should be sounding serious because these were moments that we have to take everything seriously.

“I found something,” I finally replied to her.

When she heard that, it immediately caught her attention. “What did you see? Who is this about?”

She could already tell that it was about somebody, but I didn’t reply to her. I just slid the laptop towards her and gestured for her to check the screen.

The look on her face immediately became calm, but it did not last long. Everything changed in a matter of seconds.

I was surprised that it took so long, but still, it was just a few seconds and even some people wouldn’t even notice for an hour if I had given them the laptop to check out my strategy.

This was a clever part that I knew about her.

Whitney blinked, then looked up at me. “Vegas?”

“Three days,” I said. “No explanation.”

She looked back at the screen. “Do we know who she met?”

When the question came, her mouth was shaking. It was almost like she knew something about Las Vegas. But if she knew something, she would have spoken up already and she wouldn’t even be asking me about it right now.

“No,” I said simply.

She hesitated for a while, probably thinking or processing what I had said.

But this was new, Whitney never hesitates, she always wants us to proceed with anything as soon as possible even when there is no straight plan.

“But…” she started slowly, “what if it’s nothing?”

I let out a small laugh.

Was she trying to defend June?

No… it can’t be possible.

“Nothing?” I repeated. “People don’t just disappear to Las Vegas for nothing, Whitney.”

I couldn’t believe that she was asking such a terrible question when she knew exactly how Las Vegas could be. It was a bubbling place and people don’t just go there.

People go there because they want to party and most people also go there for vacation.

June wasn’t the time that goes for vacation and it wasn’t a business trip either. It could be something different and I had a strong feeling that there was a guy involved in the picture.

She didn’t answer immediately. But her fingers tapped lightly against her leg.

“That’s not enough,” she said finally. “It’s… suggestive, but not solid.”

I studied her. She just said that it was a suggestion, and it wasn’t solid enough to go against her.

I couldn’t believe it. “You sound like you’re defending her.” I snapped.

Her head snapped up. “I’m not.”

“Then what is this?” I asked, gesturing to her.

She straightened slightly. “I’m just saying we should be careful. If we push something without proof, it could backfire.”

I smirked. “There doesn’t need to be proof,” I said calmly. “There just needs to be doubt.”

She went quiet.

I could see it now, the tension in her shoulders, the slight stiffness in her posture.

Something was bothering her. But I didn’t care enough to dig into it.

Not right now. But I already had it in mind that I was going to talk to her about it. I can’t continue if she’s going to give me this attitude.

Maybe she was covering up something and I will have to find out.

“This is how it works,” I continued. “We don’t accuse directly. We imply. We ask questions. We let people connect the breaking lines themselves.”
Whitney exhaled slowly. “And you think this will destroy her?”

I shrugged. “It won’t take much. People already whisper about her. This will just give them a reason to believe it.”

For a moment, I thought she might argue. But then she nodded.

“Okay,” she said quietly. “What do you need me to do?”

This was exactly what I was waiting for. I wanted her to give him the same energy that she had been using all this time.

“Spread it,” I said. “Carefully. Start small.

Conversations. Rumors. Make it sound like concern, not attack.”

She already has a lot of friends around her, and it might be difficult if girls were the ones to spread information. It will be known that I didn’t leave June.

She left all by herself and started flirting around.
Whitney gave a small nod. “I can do that… I would just tell everyone that June is trying to take you away from me after he had left you to be with somebody else.”

“I know you can,” I responded almost immediately.

She stood up, but before she reached the door, she paused. “Declan,” she called out with a loud voice, without turning around.

“Are you sure about this?”

I couldn’t even believe that she was asking that question again. If I wasn’t sure I wasn’t going to ask her to perform a task.

Repeating the question several times made me sick and I didn’t like it.

“Of course I am,” I said. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
