Chapter 60: Declan’s POV

Declan’s POV

After everything that she has done, she still wants to play innocent so that everybody thinks that she is the person. But I was going to make sure that nobody would ever believe anything that comes to us from her mouth. Nothing good will ever come from it.

I took a deep breath and rested on my chair, staring at the screen that was in front of me. June’s name was on the screen like she was the biggest problem I had currently.

But unfortunately, she was.

All she cared about was herself, and she didn’t even want to think about anybody else, forgetting that nobody was perfect.

It was supposed to be something that would be exciting to her and every other person, but she decided to take it personally.

I tapped my fingers slowly on the desk, my eyes narrowing. For days now, I had been watching her. Listening and noticing the small things. The way she spoke was softer, the way she avoided certain questions and the way her eyes always kept looking at me like I was a criminal.

Outside of what happened between us, it was obvious that she was holding something against me and she was hiding it, but I was going to find out. No matter how long it was going to take, I was definitely going to find out.

I quickly dragged the mouse and clicked on another file on the computer screen. She didn’t know that I had gotten someone to investigate her, especially her life before we departed.

Everybody thought I was the one who cheated on her, they didn’t know that she had her own bad side. I was going to bring out everything she was doing about them even after she left me. Where did she go?

She didn’t even have anything, but she was comfortable after she left and that could only get me curious because nobody was just going to stop by the road and see her.

How has she become so confident all of a sudden?

There was really something to check out. I believed her past would show everything.

I have some documents about her already, but I have not read them. I just kept them hoping that nothing good was going to come out of it.

But today was a day I was going to look at it one after the other. I was just hoping that one of these documents would have the story that I was looking for.

The story where she would probably go outside, claim that she was working, and then go to see another man while she was supposed to be with me, and satisfy my needs.

Such a hypocrite.

She wants everybody to sympathize with her and she wasn’t able to help herself.

My lips curved slightly.

“Let’s see who you really are, June.”

I scrolled down the page until something caught my eye.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. She went on a trip to Las Vegas.

This was crazy. How did it even happen and I did not find out.

Who did she go to meet there? Did she have a sugar daddy before me?

So many questions were popping up in my head I didn’t even blame myself for taking such a way because she wasn’t thinking that I used to know a long time ago.

So many things have changed about her.

June didn’t look like the type to go to Las Vegas.

She barely even smiled, let alone partied. Yet, there it was, flight records, hotel booking, three days.

Three days she never mentioned.

Three days she kept hidden.

This was definitely going to be much more interesting than I had thought because I thought I was probably thinking about what she had done when she left me. But it was obvious that she had gone to a party.

She went to see somebody else. The same people who have been distracting her.

But who did she go to see? Was that person even better than me?

I shook my head and then let out a soft laugh from the side of my lips.

“Now this…” I muttered, “This is something.”

I opened the details. The hotel was expensive. Not something a struggling girl would casually book.

And the timing… it lined up with a gap in her life. A time when she had disappeared from everyone.

Why?

Who was she meeting?

I have tried to think about this several times, but nothing was coming up in my head. She wouldn’t just leave to go to a party on her own.

She hardly even does other things. It has just always been about her in the hospital where her mother was receiving treatment.

But how come nobody ever told me about all of this? Even her cousin, withney didn’t even know anything.

There was no place that June was going that Whitney never knew about. She always seems to have all the information and sometimes she only gets a little information.

Yet, she didn’t say anything about this one. Maybe she kept quiet because she had to believe that I might have stopped June from living.

I searched deeper, trying to find a name. A contact. Anything. But there was nothing clear. No obvious person is linked to the trip.

That annoyed me even though I didn’t want to show it out so that everybody would see.

I didn’t just want to bring anything out there, I wanted to bring out the truth and show everybody what type of person she was.

But then, it would also be nice if they didn’t get the whole story.

Because people always assume the worst when they don’t know the truth and I could give them exactly that.

“This wasn’t my fault anymore,” I murmured to myself. “It’s what you are asking for and nobody would even know that I was the one spreading all of this information.”

I wouldn’t get blamed for cheating on her anymore.

I leaned back again, folding my arms as the idea slowly formed in my mind.

June. Always acting like a victim. But what if she wasn’t?

What if she was just pretending? What if she had gone to Las Vegas for something… dirty?

Something selfish. She must have obviously gone there for something dirty. I was very sure of it.

“How am I even going to send this to blogs?” I asked myself several times before I finally concentrated on the computer screen.

“One Hidden Secret of June Bennet!”

I typed a topic on the screen and quickly deleted it. I have to put up something good so that when people read it, there will be a lot of trouble and noise. Especially in this company.

The HR would not see any reason to trust her anymore. They will definitely think that she was the one molesting me and maybe she gets to lose her job too.

Then… I will try to offer her help again, and if she refuses, I’ll make her mother’s life complicated in the hospital and she doesn’t have any other choice but to run to me.
