CHAPTER TWENTY
As I walked out of Doom's office, and the door shut, Asher's hand dragged me back causing my chest to hit him, but I pushed him away angrily.
"Get off me, you idiot!" I spat.
His anger flared, and his brows arched upward. "I am your worst nightmare woman, I wouldn't get off on you that easily."
"Give up soon then, 'cause no matter what you do…you won't win over me."
"I already won. Look at you, all bruised…too weak perhaps. It's not too late to go back in and tell Doom that you are sick. I would handle all the tasks myself"
I chuckled, surprised at his usual guts. "Not so clever"
I walked away but he followed me again, stopping me by standing in my way. "I am not done talking"
"Get out of my way, Asher."
"You would go back in there and speak to Doom. Tell him you would like me to handle the task alone."
"And why would I do that?"
"Because I say so!" He barked. I chuckled as I stared up at him, his audacity hovering around him.
"You know what?" I placed my hands akimbo and rested on my hips. "You would go in there and tell Doom to let me handle the task alone because I command it"
"Too bad, you do not hold such power, Rosetta." He sparked, and a smirk curled up his lips. "Doom knows I am not one to give up, but he will easily believe you if you told him you were a weak ass and would love to rest in this category."
"You want me to automatically disqualify myself."
"If you interpret it that way, yes."
I was disgusted by his attitude, more irritated because all I saw was the man who killed my parents. The imagination of him forcing things with his mother couldn't stop coming. A pervert, cold-blooded animal.
"Let us settle our scores, Asher. It is simple. We are not pairs, I would do this task alone and you do yours alone!"
"That rule is not allowed."
"If it costs us disqualification, I do not mind."
"Oh, you do mind. I know why you're here, Rosetta and you are too stubborn to let that goal off. "
"Why am I here?" I asked him since he knows too much. Was he aware that I was the King's daughter? Was he aware that I was here to get all the power I needed to cause him destruction?
"You're here to prove you can be a better don than a man can. And I am sorry to say, that rule doesn't apply to the mafia world. We know men are stronger!"
"Oh, are they?" I walked up to him, facing him chest to chest, well not really, because he was taller. "Let's see who wins this game Asher…it would be a waste of my time to speak with losers. I am going to bring you down you horse, baby!"
He maintained a stifled laugh and then pressed his hand on my shoulders. "It is easier to wreck you…but okay, let's do as you say."
He moved away from me as he walked away, but stopped at a distance. "We'll be a pair, but we will work separately. How does that sound fucking bitch?"
I was triggered, but then I still yelled "There's no better way to do this, asshole!"
He cleared out of my sight and I felt my pulse fastened. Something was different about my revenge now, or maybe it was my confidence. I couldn't look Zayn in the eye and speak to him this way, but I could confidently tell Asher that I was going to kill him.
Prison must have toughened me, but also the fact that I knew Asher was barely ten years older, unlike Zayn who was about my father's age. Also knowing we competed and I was not under him as a slave gave me more morale.
Asher wouldn't be able to kill me here, but he could give me near-death experiences. Unless I was out of the competition before the heist, I would continue to hunt him. He was my greatest nightmare as he said, but it wasn't because of the Don heist, but all he did in the past.
I walked back into the main hall, after being certain that Asher had gone way before me. As I entered, the usual stare pierced at me. I scanned the room for a seat and the only empty one was beside my so-called partner, Asher.
I stood where I was, not wanting to go forward until I heard the announcer's voice. "Every participant should sit with their partners or go out of the hall"
I had no choice but to go forward to where Asher sat. I dragged the chair away from him, to give a little distance and then I sat, my hands folded with a frown.
He leaned closer and I arched backward. "We're partners for now, missy" he pulled the chair I was sitting on close to him and I rolled my eyes.
"Before we all move outside for the outdoor game. Here are the rules…" the announcer went on to state the rules of the game.
I wasn't going to follow these rules because it involved a lot of cooperation between my partner and I. Luckily, this game was in rounds, if we failed as a pair the first time, I would ask Doom to pair me with another.
He should understand it was hard being in the same place as my parent's killer. However, I knew he was someone who was in a challenge, and if I couldn't prove that I could cooperate with my teammate during the heist, this was not worth it.
The rules went on and on and as I glanced to my side, I saw Asher with full concentration. He isn't seriously thinking about pairing also so he could take all the credit, is he?
"Let us move…" the announcer said and the doors in the hall opened to the field.
