CHAPTER NINETEEN
Rosetta's POV
There was no bloody way I was remaining paired with Asher as my partner for this upcoming task, no freaking way.
When Doom mentioned the whole pairing thing I wasn't in support but I didn't say anything because I had no choice or say, but the moment he started calling out names and called mine with Asher I hoped it was a mistake but it wasn't, because he continued calling other names.
I took a deep breath as I stared at the door to the Doom's office. I had no idea what his reaction would be like but there was no way I was letting Asher have all the opportunity to make my life even more miserable. Slowly I pushed the door open, I heard voices as I walked in, it only became familiar when I came out of the shadows.
"There is no fucking way you paired me up with a weakling"
I heard Asher say and I frowned and walked toward where he stood in front of Doom's desk.
"What do you mean by weakling? You should be grateful you ever got paired with me" I said, giving him the stink eye. I hated him, I hated the air around him.
"I am guessing you are also here to tell me you don't want to be paired with Grey," Doom said and I nodded my head.
"It could be anybody, anybody, it could have been anybody and I couldn't care, but him! Hell no, I would rather die than work with him" I said, hearing the click of a gun, I turned around to see Asher pointing a gun to my head.
"How about I do that, it would both save us from ever working with each other, yours would just be on a permanent side," he said grinning and I felt infuriated. I wanted to slash the grin out of his face giving him a permanent smile.
"Gun down Asher, you know the rules," Doom said looking and sounding tired.
I didn't even utter a single word and just stared at him down, there was no telling what Asher was going to do to me if we ended up doing the task together seeing as he had access to his gun.
"I could always end you some other time," he said before shoving the gun down his pants and turning his attention over to the Doom.
"You two are going to do this task together and that's final, I don't make these rules alone, we have been watching, this arrangement was based on who complimented the other, and she compliments you well so it wasn't just a days decision, it's been made since" he said and I frowned even deeper. Hell fucking no!
"Then I shall sit this one out," I said, folding my arms across my chest. I don't care if Doom said I was not doing the task with Asher.
"I don't suppose you understand what's going on right now, if you don't do this task you're out," the Doom said "I had high hopes for you but if this is how you want to end it then there's no problem, we would find s-"
"Don't you see what's going to happen if we agree to this partner thing, he has a gun-"
"Like you don't have a knife," Asher said, staring at me, with mischief written all over his face. The bastard was ratting me out and I didn't know how to react, I couldn't wait to chop off his tongue.
"Pretty sure if we searched very well we would find out she's hiding a gun" he continued and I remained quiet still, looking like he was getting the idea that I wasn't talking to him.
"Okay, here is what's going to happen, give me one reason why you both don't want to be paired together and I might reconsider"
"I hate him"
"I hate her"
We said at the same time, why did he hate me? I didn't even do anything, I was the one with a valid reason for my hatred, he killed my family I had every right to hate him, he was just being a man with a bruised ego. I knew that day when we did the pushups I had broken something inside of him that day, he hated me based on pettiness, he wasn't serious about anything, and I wasn't sure if it was real hate according to what Zayn told me about him he would have ended my life a long time.
My hatred for him was valid, I was going to kill him, but until then I didn't want anything to do with him, I didn't want to be around him, and I didn't even want to breathe the same air as he was.
"That's not a valid reason, looks like you both are going to be working with each other on this task, and you can always drop out if you don't want to do it, it's going to make it easier during the disqualification hour. The more people leave the earlier this whole competition comes to an end.
Disqualification time is the only time shit gets to be interesting around here, the threats, the noise, and all that chaos, it's what drives this whole search, we could have picked anybody for the heist but we wanted to take our time screening, we are deep into crime so trust me we know who's perfect for the job but this is the fun part, and if you want to miss all that just because you hate each other then that's fine. I'm done with the both of you, leave my office I have better things that need my attention," he said and I just stood there frozen, he had said a lot of things that made sense.
"Out," he said again and this time I didn't need to be told another time as I moved my feet and left his office with Asher following behind.
