CHAPTER TWENTY ONE

Rosetta's pov

"The first team to return with the item wins this session, after everybody has returned from the search please gather in the announcement room, this is the opportunity to redeem yourself, it's why you were paired with someone Worthy…"

I turned to stare at Asher with a frown on my face, someone Worthy of my ass.

"Each of the teams is provided with a map, and some other necessary equipment, it's a short round so get ready at the sound of the gun" 

I was ready, but I wasn't sure if Asher was, there was no need to wait for him as I was the one holding the map, I could just do the task myself and win this round, he didn't need to come, the gun sounded and I raced into the field, I planned to ditch him but he caught up with me in an instant. Shit! I need to learn how to run faster!

"What the fuck?, Was this your plan?" He asked me to pull me by my arm, I pushed his hands away, almost smacking him in the face.

"Touch me again and I promise you'll lose your hand!" I said trying to sound threatening but I only sounded ridiculous because I was trying to gather my breath from the little running I need, fuck I needed to start working out.

"Threaten me again and I'd put a hole in your head, now give me the fucking map!" He said stretching out his hands and I stared at it like there was a shit tree growing out of it.

"What makes you think I'd give you this map? Can't have you mess this up for me" I said and started walking. I was wasting time talking to him and we only had so much time until the task was over, his footsteps behind me were loud and it irritated the crap out of me.

"Quit following me!" I said loudly and he scoffed, looking pissed but I didn't care and kept walking.

"What the fuck is wrong with you, if you can't put your hatred aside for us to work together on this task then maybe you should sit this one out and hand me the map," he said trying to snatch the map out of my hand but I shoved him in his sides to my surprise he didn't budge or groan in pain like I thought he would so I could use the opportunity to run from him.

"Ouch," he said, staring down at me, he grabbed me by my shoulders and I hit him again. This time I shoved my elbow into his stomach and he pulled on my hair making me scream out in pain giving him the perfect opportunity to pull the map from under my arm.

"Give that back right now!" I said holding my head which was throbbing from pain. He didn't answer me as he opened the map staring at it while walking forward, he didn't ask for the bag they prepared for us so I was guessing he was ready for us to work together but there was no way I was letting that happen, so I ran up to him and jumped on his back as my fingers dipped into his shoulders, he tries to shake me off of him by moving side to side while I stretched trying to grab the map from him, I was just about to jump down from him the moment my hands touched the map but he pulled me by my hair making me tug on the map harder than I planned and it ripped into two halves, one with me and the other with him.

"What did you fucking do!" I asked in shock, he looked so fucking pissed like he would take out his gun and shoot me in the foot kind of pissed.

"I should be asking you that question you fool, I don't understand how self-centered you can be that you'd go to the extent of ruining this, what the fuck is wrong with you!" He yelled at me and I just stared at the other half in my hand, I didn't care for what he was saying as I tried to figure out what I could say to get him to hand me the other half of the map, we were running out of time.

"Just give me your half so I can complete this task before the time runs out on us," I said stretching my hand for the other half, he took a step towards me, and without thinking I also took a step back.

"Looks like we are going to get disqualified, I am only here for the fun of it, I could get disqualified and not give a shit, unless you're ready to work with me then get ready to be sent out," he said and as much as I hated all he had said I knew he was right, I was here for a reason, I could put hatred aside for five minutes and work with him, sighing I stretched my hand to hand over my half of the map when there was a loud siren sound.

"Don't tell me that's the sound of the game ending?" I said with my eyes wide open, Asher slapped his forehead and walked away from me angrily.

"If you had just fucking listened to me!" He said yelling as he walked away, I was too stunned to speak so I stood there wondering what the fuck I was going to do, my whole dream and plan for revenge had completely died, and fuck did it hurt.

The siren was louder and louder I was being pushed around I headed for the announcement room as I tried to come to terms with the idea that I was going to be asked to leave, it was all Asher's fault since the asshole knew he wasn't interested in the benefits he could have just allowed me to go on the task alone.

"Bastard!" I cursed out and continued my walk to the hall, with my heart in my hand.
