Chapter 50 Cannot disagree
Chapter 50 Cannot disagree
Alpha Elijah Alastair - POV
I was scrolling through my phone when the bright headlights of a car caught my attention. I put the phone away and got out of the car just as the vehicle stopped in front of me and the back windows rolled down. “Did I keep you waiting for a long time?” Alpha Jace asked me when I shook my head.
“I know the wait would be worthwhile.” I commented when a smile appeared on Alpha Jace’s face.
“All right, get in," he told me when I nodded my head and hit into the back seat with him. It was a short journey, and as the car pulled up near the pack house entrance, Beta Murphy walked out of the house with a few warriors.
I got out of the car when I saw his expression change from confusion into a bitter look in seconds, but that didn't last long when he saw Alpha Jace. “Alpha Jace, Alpha Alexus didn't inform me that you would be coming here tonight.” Beta Murphy exclaimed.
“Well, I am here to sort out an issue," he said when I heard light footsteps coming towards the pack house. I turned around when I saw Antonella and Maximus walking towards us hand in hand.
“To what do I owe this sudden visit from you, Alpha Jace?” Maximus asked in a cautious tone, but from the furious look on his face, I knew that he must have already guessed what was going on.
“Luna Antonella, I believe you were aware that your mate was looking for you for a week?” "Aloha," Jace questioned, completely ignoring Maximus.
“And I believe Elijah must have told you that I wasn't kidnapped?” She retorted when Alpha Jace looked at me while I maintained a clueless look.
"Let's talk about this in my office.” Maximus suggested when Alpha Jave nodded his head. Beta Murphy led us into the pack house, and as we reached the office, he opened the door and let us through.
“Luna Antonella, Elijah told me that you refused to go back with him?” Alpha Jace asked when she nodded her head. “It is quite common to have misunderstandings among couples, but running away from your pack and your duties isn't the solution for that.” Alpha Jace explained when a sarcastic smile appeared on her face.
“So Elijah didn't tell you the entire truth as to why I ran away?” she asked him, but when he didn't answer, she continued. “I found him cheating on me with another woman, Alpha Jace. How could you think I would stay back even after everything that happened?” she asked him with a raised eyebrow while I maintained my composure because one wrong move and everything would come downhill.
“I am aware of this misunderstanding.” Alpha Jace said in a calm tone. “But Elijah has already submitted the evidence, Luna Antonella. He was drugged by that woman, which made him sleep with her. I know it's a betrayal to the bond you share, but I don't think such a harsh punishment is needed for something as trivial as this.”
“That wasn't the first time," she said, anger seeping into her voice.
“And do you have evidence for that?” Alpha Jace asked when she shook her head. “I think the issue is sorted now. I would suggest you go home with your mate.”
“I don't want him anymore, Alpha Jace. And we do have the right to reject our mate.”
“Yes, but I believe you need to think this through before going through that rejection, Luna Antonella.”
“I don't think that's necessary," she asserted when she moved her hair and showed a birthmark that wasn't mine. My hands curled into fists while my eyes locked with Maximus, who had a neutral look on his face.
“How the fuck could you mark her!” I growled as I charged towards him. But he was expecting my behavior because he easily tackled me to the ground and landed a few punches on my cheekbone.
“Stop it!” Antonella yelled when I saw her pull Maximus off me.
“Alpha Alexus, you have broken the sacred rule about the mate bond!” Alpha Jace yelled when Maximus turned to face him.
“They do not share a fucking bond. Ask him if you want.” Maximus spat out when a frown appeared on Alpha Jace’s face while my heart raced in panic.
"That's because you marked her, and that made her bond with me fade away.” I accused him when he flared up again, but this time Alpha Jace stepped in between us.
“Alpha Alexus, till now we have been on your side, but this is unacceptable. Stealing another man’s mate is a punishable offense when they haven't even broken the bond between them.”
“I am not going to let them take Antonella from me.” "Maximus said in finality when I looked at Alpha Jace, hoping that he would give out a fair judgment."
“I don't think you have the right to do that. I think it's best if Luna Antoenlla returns to Alpha Alatair’s pack with him.”
“But I don't want him!” Antonella yelled when Alpha Jace raised his hand to silence her.
“I am not saying that you have no right to reject him, Luna Antonella. But he is still your mate, and until we figure out a solution for this, it would be better if you stay with Elijah.”
“But…” Antonella tries to protest when Maximus held her hand.
“You should go, Ella. We will deal with this legally," he reassured her while on the inside I was dancing in joy. Today was the blood moon, and in just a few hours I will have my mother standing beside me while Antonella lies in a body bag.
"Okay," she said in a dejected tone when a smile broke out on my face.
“Thank you, Alpha Alexus.” Alpha Jace said when Antonella walked towards me. “Shall we go?” I asked her when she nodded her head. I snaked my arm around Antonella’s waist and walked out of the office.
