Antonella Erickson - POV

As I walked out of the pack house, I felt a painful tug on my heart. I turned around when I saw Maximus standing there with a stoic look on his face. I never felt this agony when I left Elijah that night, but the thought of leaving Maximus made my heart constrict. “Antonella, let's go,” Elijah said, but I couldn't hold back my emotions anymore.

I wriggled my hand out of Elijah’s and rushed towards Maximus. “Antonella!” Elijah yelled, but I didn't turn around when I landed in his arms.

“I…I can't leave you, Maximus. The pain feels worse the further I move away from you.” I said.

“Trust me, Antonella. I will sort this out and come to take you back as soon as I can.” He promised, and without a second thought, I hit up on my tiptoes and placed my lips on his. The kiss was fierce when he kissed me back harder.

My hands moved to the back of his neck and lightly tucked at his hair while he gripped my waist a little tighter, making my heart race.

His lips were soft and wet as I devoured it like my last meal and soon pulled back. My eyes were moist with tears, but I will not cry now. “I love you, Maximus.” My words made his eyes widen in shock as he stood stunned when I felt Elijah’s hand on my arm as he roughly pulled me away.

“What the fuck is wrong with you, Ella!” Elijah screamed, but my eyes were locked on Maximus.

Elijah dragged me down the few steps and soon forced me into the car. When he got inside with Alpha Jace. “Are you sure she is your mate, Elijah?” I heard Alpha Jace question while I looked out through the window.

“She is my mate, Alpha Jace," Elijah said with finality.

“Well, based on her actions earlier, it is a little hard to believe," he commented when the car stopped at the curb. “Thank you for your help, Alpha Jace.” Elijah said when my door was opened and one of Elijah’s warriors stood outside.

"Don't get too excited, Alpha Alastair. This case will be out in court.” Alpha Jace warned as I got down, and Elijah did the same.

“I understand," he said when Alpha Jace nodded his head, and soon the car drove off.

Madison Smith—POV

I was helping Doctor Riley to change the bandages on Luna Chanel’s arm when we heard something break outside. “Did you hear that?” she asked me when I nodded my head. “Wait here; I will go and check it out," she told me when I nodded my head.

Doctor Riley walked out of the cabin while I stayed beside Luna Chanel. Ten minutes passed, and when she didn't return, I walked out. The cabin door was open, and Doctor Riley was lying on the floor unconscious.

I was about to scream when I saw the woman step into my view. “What did you do to her?” I asked panickedly.

“She is in an induced coma. Now, where is Luna Chanel?” the woman asked me when I pointed to the bedroom.

“Why are you even here?” I asked the woman when she walked into the bedroom with two men behind her.

“I want you to show Alpha Alastair who you are when he comes here. And he is bound to get angry, but he would not kill you since his mother is missing. This is the only way to get him to listen to us, Madison," the woman explained.

I walked into the bedroom when I saw the two men were carefully removing the equipment from the room ready to take her away. “Do you think he would agree to our demands?” I asked her when she nodded her head.

“Don't stutter and don't show your fear," she encouraged me when I nodded my head.

The men successfully placed Luna Chanel on a stretcher and took her out, and just as the woman was about to leave, her hoodie fell off, revealing her face. My eyes widened in shock when I saw who it was.

“Rachel?” I said in a daze when her eyes widened in shock, but soon a neutral look crossed her face. “Why are you doing this?” I asked her.

“Like I said earlier, Madison. I am not doing this out of the good of my heart. I have my own intentions.”

“You want to use Elijah to kill someone. So can I know who it is?” I asked her when a bitter smile crossed her face.

“Maximus’s mate," she said in a cold tone when a frown appeared on my face.

“You mean Luna Evangeline?” I asked her for confirmation when she nodded her head.

“I worked so hard to gain Maximus’s trust and finally make him understand that I would be the perfect fit for the Luna position. But when everything was happening according to my plan, she ruined it all.”

“Do you think Alpha Alexus would accept you as his mate when she is dead?” I asked her when a smirk appeared on her face.

“I have done this before, and I know how to make him see me again," she said, and even though I did not understand what she meant, I didn't bother asking for an explanation.

“I guess we both want the same thing after all.”

“Indeed. Give me a call after speaking with Elijah.” Rachel told me when I nodded my head. “After I leave, spray this all over the cabin to erase our scent.” She gave me a bottle, and she walked out of the cabin.

I walked into Luna Chanel’s room and sprayed the room and every corner of the cabin.

“I think he is coming.” Freya said when I felt his presence get closer. I walked out of the cabin and stood beside Doctor Riley’s body. I can feel the potion’s effect wear off, and simultaneously, Elijah stepped out of the forest.

“Madison!”

“Nice to see you again, darling.” I greeted him, my voice dripping with venom.
