Chapter 32 Agreeing to work with the devil

Chapter 32 Agreeing to work with the devil
Madison Smith - POV

The minutes gradually passed into hours while I sat at the exact place I met the woman five days ago. The bar slowly began to fill in, and the music got louder when I ordered my eighth glass of wine. “I think you should go home, ma'am. You have already drank more than anyone drinks in an entire week.” The bartender warned me as he placed the glass in front of me.

“I know my limit.” I said it in a monotone, which made him shake his head and move over to serve the next customer. A sarcastic smile appeared on my face at the man’s obvious nature. He has no idea what I am.

“I didn't expect you to come.” I heard the familiar voice of the woman when I turned around to see her approach the bar. Just like last time, she had a hoodie over her head, covering her face as she took a seat next to me.

“I can't live my life running from him.” I asserted when she nodded her head.

“Remember, once you get into this, there is no way out," the woman warned me.

“I know, what should I do?” I asked her.

“First you need to get inside that pack again.”

“Everyone knows who I am. How am I going to do that?” I asked her confusedly when she took out something from her pocket and placed it on the table.

“This is a potion I bought from a witch. This would help to alter your scent and appearance. The effect would last for a week. But after that, come and meet me so that I can give you the second vial," she told me when I nodded my head and took the bottle from her.

“What should I do after I find out about what secret Elijah is hiding?”

“Meet me in this same place; I will tell you what should be done." She told me when I nodded my head, but there was this nagging question at the back of my mind that was bothering me.

“I know no one would risk their life for a complete stranger unless they want something in return.” I asserted.

“You are a smart one, Madison," the woman paused as she continued. “Once you have Elijah wrapped around your finger, I want you to use him to kill someone. But I will tell you who it is later," she told me, and even though her words didn't sound convincing, deep down I knew that I did not have a choice.

“How is Elijah going to obey my command?”

“Oh, he will," she said with confidence when she got up from her place. “You can head over to the White Moon pack tomorrow and join in their displaced rogue program with these.” The woman told me as she took out some fake IDs and laced them on the table with some cash. “I will see you in a week, Madison," the woman told me before she left.

I took the cash and the IDs and placed some cash on the table for my drinks before I walked out of the bar. The streets were crowded with drunks as I quickly walked past them towards my motel.

Alpha Elijah Alastair - POV

It's been a week since the mating ceremony, and my wolf and I have been on edge ever since. I took out my phone from my pocket to see if the witch had responded to my message, but there was no reply yet.

“We are running out of time, Elijah. The blood moon is in thirteen days.” My wolf warned me, which only riled me up.

“Do you think I don't know that?” I snapped at him as I continued pacing in my office.

Ping.

I quickly looked at the message I got, hoping that it was from the witch, but it was from the nurse.

Come to the cabin. urgent.

I didn't think twice when I quickly rushed out of my office. It was past midnight, and not a soul was in the pack house except for the guards standing outside. As I stepped out, a guard approached me. “Alpha Alastair, is there an issue?”

"Nothing. I am going for a run.” I told him before I continued walking towards the forest. The air was cold, yet sweat beads dropped down the side of my forehead as I ran deeper into the forest. My heart was beating so fast I was afraid that it might suddenly stop.

Fifteen minutes later I arrived at the cabin, and without knocking I walked in when I saw the nurse in the kitchen. She was scrubbing a washcloth that was turning the water red. “What's going on?” my voice made her jump when she turned around and bowed her head at me.

“Al…Alpha Alastair, her condition is getting worse," the nurse informed me when she pointed at a basin that was filled with bloodied washcloths. My heart skipped a beat while my eyes slightly widened in horror.

“There…there’s so much blood.” I exclaimed when I looked at the nurse, horrified.

“She started vomiting blood a few hours ago, Alpha Alastair," the nurse said in a dejected tone when I rushed to her room. As I opened the door, I was greeted by a dark room. The curtains were drawn, and the room felt cold when my eyes finally landed on her.

“Elijah?” Her voice was hoarse when she slowly got up and sat against the headboard.

“The nurse told me you vomited blood.” I said when she nodded her head.

“I can feel my soul slipping away. I don't think I can hold on anymore," she whispered when I walked towards her bed and knelt down on the floor.

“I have found her. I just need to make sure that it is Antonella before I bring her home.” I told her as I took her fragile hand in mine.

She turned around and grasped my hand in hers. “The blood moon is approaching. I can feel it, Elijah.”

“I know, I will not let you die.”
