Chapter 12 A stern warning

Chapter 12 A stern warning
Antonella Erickson - POV

I didn't want to believe him, but then I knew that there was no use arguing. “Luna Evangeline?” I was broken out of my trance when I realized that we had arrived at the training grounds. My eyes widened to the size of a tennis ball as I looked around the massive grounds.

There must easily be at least a hundred warriors, both male and female, training right now; that is more than what Elijah has. “You have a huge army.” I commented when I saw a smirk appear on Beta Murphy’s face through my peripheral vision.

“I don't know if Max told you this. But we are currently in a war with the White Moon pack," he leisurely commented.

“Why are you trying to destroy the white moon pack?”

“That is not our intention.” Beta Murphy clarified when I turned to him. “To be honest, I don't know the reason behind this war. But I trust that Max wouldn't go to war against a pack without a reason," he finished, refusing to give me the answer to the question that has been lurking in my mind for three years.

Beta Murphy was good at hiding his emotions because I know that he was lying.

“Beta Murphy, who is this beauty?” I heard someone call out when I broke my gaze from Beta Murphy when I saw three warriors walking towards us.

“She is Luna Evangeline.” "Beta," Murphy said when I saw the smile on the warrior’s face fade.

“I am so sorry, Luna Evangeline. I didn't know," the warrior apologized when he lowered his gaze from me.

“That's all right,” I told him.

“Shall we take a walk around the training ground?” Beta Murphy asked me when I nodded my head. It took us a solid hour to finish touring the training ground, and by the end of it, I was left stunned and shocked to see how brutal the warriors train. “So, how do you like our pack?”

"It's beautiful, and I think I have never seen a pack that trains its warriors this hard.” I commented when we came to a stop by a tree.

“We need to be on the top of our game when we are at war, Luna Evenagleine," Beta Murphy commented. I was about to say something when a warrior approached us.

“Beta Murphy, there has been a breach.” the warrior said when Beta Murphy’s entire demeanor changed.

“That's not possible," he said with certainty when I saw the warrior wearily look at me before he continued.

“I think it would be best if you take a look, Beta Murphy," the warrior insisted.

“Please continue with your duties, Beta Murphy. I think I can find my way back home.” I told him.

“I am sorry that I have to leave like this, Luna Evangeline," he apologized before he left me and walked into the forest with the warrior.

I stayed on the sidelines watching the pack members in front of me when I turned around to leave. “Where are you going, Luna?” I heard a nasal voice, which made me stop. I turned around when I saw a woman standing in front of me. She was wearing a tight sports bra that made her breasts spill out while her jet black hair was pulled back into a tight ponytail.

“Um, hello, I don't think we have met before.” I said hesitantly with a forced smile on my face, but from the scorn on her face, I knew she wasn't here for pleasantries.

Her blue eyes moved up and down my body when a mocking smile appeared on her face. “How did he even fall for this?”

“What?” I asked her as I scrunched my eyebrows.

“I heard you were some rogue," she said when she took a step closer to me. “Alpha Alexus needs a strong Luna beside him, not a street rat who cannot even defend herself," the woman spat out when my hands curled into fists at the disrespect.

“What do you want?” I asked her in a monotone when the smile on her face widened.

“I am just here to warn you, Luna Evangeline,” she told me. “He is not yours, and when Rachel comes back, she will take back what is hers.” The woman warned me, and before I could speak, she turned around and walked away.

I looked around my surroundings when I realized that everyone was looking at me. I quickly turned on my heels and walked back into the forest. I have no idea who this Rachel is, but from the sound of it, I know things would only get messy from here.

“Antonella, where were you?” Alpha Alexus asked me the moment I walked into the house. Alpha Alexus was standing beside the staircase. He was only wearing his boxers, his hair was messed up, and I saw the worry etched on his face.

“I couldn't sleep so I went for a jog.” I told him when I see his muscles relax.

“I thought you left the pack.” Alpha Alexus said.

“If I wanted to leave, I would leave a note before running away, Alpha Alexus.” I told him when a smile appeared on his face.

“Shall we have breakfast?” he asked me when I nodded my head. We walked into the kitchen, and I went over and took a seat at the table while Alpha Alexus began preparing breakfast.

“Who is Rachel?” I asked him while he was frying eggs when I saw his back stiffen.

“Where did you hear that name?” he asked me when he turned off the stove and turned to face me.

“I was at the training grounds when a woman came up to me and warned me to stay away from you.” I causally told him. “Who is this Rachel?” I asked Alpha Alexus.

“I should have told you this earlier," he mumbled when he walked towards me and stopped right in front of me. “Rachel was the woman I was supposed to marry in two weeks," he said. I know I should not feel devastated, but why did my heart sink to the pit of my stomach while my throat tightened with a lump?
